WESTON — The entire town is encouraged to come be a part of a video to show the pride of Weston on Wednesday. Main Street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to take a drone video of the community showing pride in their hometown for entry to a popular HGTV show. The participants are encouraged to bring signs and wear their blue and grey. HGTV is having a nationwide contest in search for See Makeover on Page 6
BOE hears complaints

WESTON — The bus drivers and an incident with a bulletin board at Lewis County High School were the hot topics of the night at the Lewis County Board of Education meeting on Monday. The ongoing situation with the Lewis County bus drivers did not get resolved at Monday night’s BOE meeting, but there could be a light at the end of the tunnel in sight. Bus driver Rob Smith handed to the board copies of the policy and asked for changes, removals and additions. The drivers said they want a consistent hourly rate and to get this situated as soon as possible, without fear of retaliation. Despite discussion, the BOE will not hold a special session before the next meeting to fix the policy. WESTON — Weston will soon enjoy another shopping option with discount prices. My Thrifty Mama is the new thrift store opening on Highway 33 by the Furner-Vaughn family. The grand opening is Wednesday, February 5. The store has three rooms. The front room is the “antique and vintage” room, as well as the jewelry corner. Two walls covered in jewelry to show off the passion that Hollie Vaughn’s grandmother, Faye Furner, “a jewelry-aholic,” has collected throughout the years. Voting open for My Thrifty Education Levy Mama opening
WESTON — On Saturday, February 8, Lewis County citizens will have the opportunity to vote on the 2020 – 2025 Lewis County Education Levy. Early voting is also currently open at the Lewis County Courthouse and encouraged. Hoping to address the needs of the community and use the levy money as efficiently as possible, there have been some major improvements from the current levy.
