01.5 BOTANICAL SEED BANK
ABOUT PROJECT
The Emantini Seed Bank in Swaziland has showcased simple construction methods and innovative use of materials so as to sculpt the user’s experience in an unexpected and inspiring way. It is hoped that this landmark project, encourage its replication as a template for similar Seed Banks elsewhere.
The Emantini Seed Bank is a hi-tech form of conservation to safeguard genetic diversity whereby scientists collect and document seeds, and then store them in a refrigerated facility, effectively creating a ‘library’ of plant genetics. The project consists of two well-insulated refrigerated storage facilities, a laboratory, amenities, and a courtyard space designed with to host functions.
The project brief specified a tight budget, and our success is a testament to how we act, as a practice, can add value to any project by making the most of any budget. It also demonstrates our mastery in design, and a capability to work in any market sector Due to the budgetary constraints, the most cost effective construction method was to use cinderblocks.
The humble cinderblock is no stranger to a rural context. By demonstrating that one can use unfinished, cost-effective concrete blocks to create a beautiful piece of architecture, you hopefully inspire and encourage others in the community
SCOPE: (ALL STAGES)
These cinderblocks were manufactured locally, which means minimal transportation costs. Some of the blocks were altered by placing them on their sides on a shutter board and pouring concrete in 10 form a base. These altered blocks were then used for the ‘holes’ in the wall, as well asfor planters and lights. The faces of the blocks were topped off with a matt sealer.
The Emantini Seed Bank is located on a private estate and forms part of a private nature reserve, nursery, and botanical garden. The client is a keen plant enthusiast and would like his personal legacy to be a priceless gift back to society. Thus he had this vision of popularising the idea of safeguarding plant genetics. The first step in this mammoth task has been to create a cost-effective and beautiful Seed Bank as a prototype, in the hope to inspire other like-minded people to do the same.

An interior design for a functional and pleasant SPA starts from very precise planning of the spa concept; consequently defining a layout with the distribution of the treatment paths. It is also fundamental to plan all the relative technical installations, as well as a careful analysis of the management costs and profits. Above all, a successful SPA project must provide for coordinated management of all expertise already in the early stages of design; so this allows to control costs, the quality of the realization, and respect the project timing.

LADOSIA SEA POINT CITY
4.1 MASTER PLAN | GRADUATION PROJECT
Ladosia City is a Mixed-Use development project that aims to create a residential and touristic investment to the largest possible extent at the individual and community level. And with a concept inspired by water environmental elements to includes rocks, sand, and water bubbles, so we expressed the rocky area with a bubble focused on the anchorages for tourist yachts, which protect the entire area from waves.
LADOSIA SEA POINT CITY
MASTER PLAN | GRADUATION PROJECT
In addition, the development provides a marina port to accommodates approximately 60-80 boats of various sizes and a variants seafood restaurant with seating areas to practice the hobby of fishing.
The project also offers a 5-star hotel by following a modern and contemporary methodology in the engineering field, where it is designed in a way that secures a full view of the sea, taking advantage of the overlooks on three different facades to secure the largest angle of sea view. The facade of the hotel started gradually from the level of the first floor to the level of the eighth floor to give the shape of its flexibility in height and taking the shape of the flowing sea wave in the design concept.
The concept of the chalets was taken from the end of the beach waves forming circular bubbles at the beginning that fade in straight lines on the sandy beach. It was inspired by the circular chalets at the beginning of the lowest level (+2m level) to the level (+4m) to end with rectangular and simple villas that express the simplicity of the idea and clarify its aesthetic in the design.
Taking the design of the Ladosia Shopping Mega Mall on the waterfronts overlooking the Corniche, taking the form that contains the Marina, and bringing out the two main towers that form the center as an iconic point.
The Malls shape was also designed to give balance to the design and create courtyards decorated with gardens, natural elements, and pedestrian movement.
The masterplan contains a residential and commercial element, which includes the towers that have been designed to provide the residents an aesthetic sense of views with an overlooking the sea to give the project a modern architectural style with the highest standards of modern design, distinct from a functional point of view and achieving the environmental goal through taking the advantage of nature.
Moving to the tourist section that is represented by the presence of a five-star hotel resort in addition to the villas units for longer stays, this space covers the visitor’s needs of the project, to achieve an economical goal. The project also an entertainment facility and services for all categories of the project, to be a tourist attraction point and achieve the social goal.
COMPLEX GEOMETRY
PARAMETRIC DESIGNS | MAG LAB
A workshop design platform to explore emergent architectural systems by innovative digital technology and applications to respond to social dynamics and environmental forces. collaborating with other architects, engineers, artists, and biologists with strength in advanced computational design knowledge, techniques, and experiences.
MAG LAB focuses on optimizing complex geometry with parametric design tools in conjunction with economic efficiency, structural performance, environmental impact, and programmatic progress. It aims to create adaptable spatial organization by integrating architecture, landscape, infrastructure, and urban planning, of which the formal consequences are generated through a variety of information in order to accommodate more possibilities of the future.
The workshop operates a critical design approach that recognizes the inherent complexity in building and construction and which harnesses this complexity to produce projects that are robust and adaptable. It is a practice where design and tactical decisions operate in relationship to the numerous constraints and unforeseen developments of any project, whether large or small. The ability to not only accepts change and alteration but to use these critical events
