Summer Solstice Parade Santa Barbara’s largest festival is the Summer Solstice Festival. Every year, there’s a different theme. This year, the theme is “CREATURES”. People from all around display their interpretation of this theme through costumes. There’s even a parade where you’ll see over 1000 participants in costume dancing merrily. With live performances and delicious food stalls, this festival can be enjoyed by the whole family. 夏至の日を祝う、 サンタバーバラ最大のお祭り。毎年テーマが変わっていて、 今年は’”CREATURES”。思い思いにテーマを表現し、個性あふれるコスチューム を纏った1000人以上の人々が陽気に踊るパレードは必見！ パフォーマンスを 見たり、屋台のおいしい料理を食べたりと、家族みんなでエンジョイできます。

This parade marches from Downtown to Alameda Park. In the parade, you can see many costumes, masks, and floats made by the locals. Everything is built from the bottom up (from the materials used, to the design). And when you see the creativity behind each outfit and compare them to one another, you will be amazed. ダウンタウンを練り歩きAlameda Park に到着するパレード。 コスチュームや仮 面、山車は、地元の人たちが手作りした もの。素材からデザインまでクリエイテ ィブなアイディアが散りばめられている ので、見比べてみるとおもしろいはず。

The heart of this festival is in Alameda Park. You’ll find concerts by musicians and other artistic performances. On top of that, there are many shops that sell homemade goods. Of course, there’s food! You can enjoy food from popular restaurants in Santa Barbara. There’s even a kidsonly area! Perfect for the whole family!

Enjoy Independence Day fireworks at Steams Wharf. In the surrounding park, barbecue parties start from noon. It’ll be congested with people waiting for the fireworks show, so if you want to secure a great spot, you had better get there early! Only on this day out of the year, you will find such a quiet city to be bustling until late night. 独立記念日の夜はSteams Wharfで花火が上がります。 周辺の公園は 昼からBBQパーティーをしながら花火を待つ人で混雑するので、 いい場 所で見たい場合は早めに確保すべし！ この日ばかりは閑静な街が夜 遅くまでにぎわい、 いつもとは違った一面を垣間見ることができます。
