Enjoy A Wine & Beer Passport This Winter In NC Wine Country

The Yadkin Valley Winter Wine & Beer Passport serves up a season of tastings in North Carolina wine country.

Whether buying for yourself or giving as a gift, each passport is a money-saving pass to tasting experiences at 18 wineries and breweries. The tastings can be redeemed all winter long through March 26, 2023.

Wineries participating this winter are Adagio Vineyards, Carolina Heritage, Elkin Creek, Golden Road, Grassy Creek, Haze Gray, Pilot Mountain, Roaring River, Round Peak, Serre Vineyards, Shelton Vineyards, Slightly Askew and Stony Knoll.

Meanwhile, four craft breweries – Angry Troll, Skull Camp, Thirsty Souls and White Elephant – add variety to the tasting options, along with Mayberry Spirits Distillery.

The vineyards and breweries are located in and around the popular Yadkin Valley towns of

“People love the passports. Many come back year after year or give them as gifts to family and friends,” says Becky Muhlenberg of Haze Gray Vineyards. “It’s really just the idea of having something fun to do for a weekend in winter, or spreading it across several winter weekends.”

Passport holders also receive special discounts on dining, shopping and lodging, including cabins in the vineyards.

Rates are $95 for an individual passport and $145 for a two-person passport (which provides 36 tastings). Those are bargain rates for a passport with an estimated value of $340.

Gather With Family And Friends. In Granville

December is a time to celebrate the Christmas Season - and in Granville County, it’s also a time to gather with family and friends.

All Month (Oxford) – The Granville Christmas Farm incredible drive-through Christmas light show is open all month!

Dec. 2 (Oxford) – Come to Main Street and see downtown light up with the tree “Lighting on the Green” at 6:45 pm, followed by the Christmas Parade featuring floats, dancers, and of course Santa.

Dec 2 – 3 (Butner) – Bring the kids with their letters to Santa and join us Dec. 2nd for the Christmas in the Park celebration of songs and the lighting of the tree in the decorated Gazebo Park. Begins at 7:00 pm. The Butner Community Association presents the annual Christmas Parade on the 3rd at 2:00 pm.

Dec 2 – 3 (Creedmoor) – The Tree Lighting takes place at the Community Center at 7 pm on the 2nd, and the Creedmoor Christmas Parade will be held on Main Street at 11:00 am on the 3rd.

Dec. 4 (Stem ) – Cocoa with Santa at The Barn at Vino – Each child gets to decorate Christmas cookies, make an ornament, enjoy hot cocoa, write a letter to Santa, and capture a picture with your family and Santa & Mrs. Claus!

Dec. 8 (Oxford) – Jingle & Mingle – Come see all that Oxford’s downtown merchants have to offer this Holiday Season. Runs from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Dec. 10 (Grassy Creek) – This Christmas Parade is guaranteed to be a special event for the whole family. Begins at 2:00 pm.

Dec. 10 (Oxford) – Carlee Farm Market Place – Come out and support over 30 local vendors selling Christmas items.

Dec. 10 – 12 (Oxford) – “Back to Bethlehem” – Drive-Thru Nativity - Delrayno Baptist Church – Relive the miraculous events. Follow the brilliant light seen from afar. Event runs from 6:00 pm –8:30 pm nightly.

A Great Time Of Year To Visit Stokes County

December is a great time to go for that off-thebeaten-path ride with friends! Wait, what am I saying? It’s always a great time to go exploring! We all jumped in the Jeep and headed toward Stokes County.

On the way into Danbury, we wanted to check out the Old-Fashioned Christmas at Priddy’s General Store. A great way to experience Christmas at the rural corner General Store. Sample old-fashioned candies and delicious hoop cheese while you sip a cup of hot apple cider or a warm stew from the black kettle. Shopping for that unique, heartfelt gift has never felt so personal.

The beautiful scenery and the incredible twisty roads are always my favorite. Our next stop was at the Arts Council in Danbury for a little retail

Small-town Holiday Destinations are what Christmas is all about. I wanted to make a difference this year with my family and avoid the big box. I want to walk along the quaint sidewalk of a small country town in Eden and chat with the owner of the little shop that sells local crafts and artisan products. I want to pick up the unique piece and say mom would look so beautiful wearing that.

I want that joyful feeling of Christmas as I buy something from a local shop. That not only do I get that wonderful feeling of excitement that I’ve picked the right thing out, but I also know I’ve helped a small community by shopping locally.

Holiday shopping is half the fun at Christmas time. Traveling to a small town, walking down the sidewalks filled with history. Historical buildings are reborn with businesses for all your shopping needs. Downtown Reidsville is waking up with new sidewalks, streetscapes, murals, and more. The town is known for many artists in its community in multiple mediums. You’re looking for a theater to enjoy a show, a brewery to sit and enjoy with friends, looking for a Bed & Breakfast, or an event venue to host a gathering. Downtown has more to offer than just shopping! Boutiques, Antiques, crafts, and more.

artists have exhibited here. It’s great finding a one-of-a-kind item for that special person. It’s also a great place to grab some snack items for the next destination just up the road.

JuneNext, off to Hanging Rock State Park for a brisk but beautiful hike. The Park is consistently rated one of the best state parks in North Carolina. On the coldest of days, the Park’s five waterfalls — Window Falls, Hidden Falls, Tory’s Den Falls, Upper Cascades, and Lower Cascades — can be found frozen in time — a majestic and awe-inspiring sight. I wonder if they will be frozen yet?

After the usually chilly hike we head to King for something warm and cozy. We stopped into the King Kitchen for some good ol’ comfort food. Heading towards downtown King we see Fannie and Ira’s Provisions and decide to explore inside. Trying a craft beer, some more snacks and enjoying a bit of music while there. Such a cool place.

Still needing to purchase a few gifts, some antiquing is now required. So, we travel to Walnut Cove and hit the motherload of all times. Two of the largest markets are located in town. I had A great day exploring with friends and knocking out a ton of Christmas shopping. Perfect!
