A New Look for Miles Ahead MINI Driving School in 2016 Our West Coast Editor Norman Nelson recently sat down with Miles Ahead principals Ted Woener and Stephan Gregoire to discuss the new track day format they will be using at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The new format will offer more access to the MINI motoring enthusiast with broader options and more affordable opportunities. Miles Ahead will remain at the world famous Indy race track and have the same talented professional instructors, but incorporating what they have dubbed the “Hypercross” which will be somewhat of an autocross and driving experience. The participants will still get the introductory laps following some
of the Indy instructors, but add in some autocross exercises and friendly competition. By splitting up the sessions into shorter spurts, they can offer packages starting as low as $99. They have also worked with the Indianapolis Museum to offer package tours to make the day a complete motoring experience. The program will continue to use the F56 John Cooper Works MINIS as this car offers the optimum performance to the widest range of drivers. From the first timer on course to the experienced racer, the JCW is capable of providing the challenges and stability for everyone. In our next issue we will provide a full report on the new and

Editors Note: Having completed the Miles Ahead school in the Fall of 2014 I have to say that this change will allow many more MINIacs the chance of adding to their bucket list at a very affordable cost. Believe me, there is nothing like crossing that yard of brick at speed; up to recently it was something restricted to Indycar, NASCAR, Grand Am or Formula 1 drivers. And adding in a ‘Hypercoss’ event to the experience just gets your competitive juices flowing. Without a doubt this will become a favorite of MINIacs come Christmas and birthday time.
