Welcome to The Self-Care Issue.
For our cover we have Zieda Sharipova, Founder of Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic on the business of beauty and delivering best-in-class skin innovation as a form of self-care in Beyond Skin Deep on page 14.
DO WHAT SERVES YOU.
This month focuses on self-care, and this is something that will look different for everyone. For some, self-care is working overtime to ensure you build your dreams, for others it’s dialling things down a notch and reassesing what it means to have peace in your life.
We speak to CEO of Aman Essentials, Kristina Romanova, on creating a line of wellness essentials that instills stillness and
the inspiration behind Aman Tennis Club in Pause and Play on page 62; Natalie Holloway, founder of Bala, discusses changing the game in the fitness industry in The Game Changer on page 80; and we discover the latest spaces in the region that cultivate self-care in Power Up, Power Down on page 88. If taking time to read is a form of self-care for you, both Annalie Howling and Mimi Bouchard speak on their latest book launches in Unapologetically Yourself on page 84 and Your Future Self on page 82 respectively.
Which ever end of the spectrum you’re sitting at in terms of what self-care means for you, we invite you to listen to your intuition and do more of what serves you.

BEYOND SKIN DEEP
ZIEDA SHARIPOVA, FOUNDER OF ZIEDA’S AESTHETIC CLINIC, ON THE BUSINESS OF BEAUTY AND DELIVERING BEST-IN-CLASS SKIN INNOVATION AS SELF-CARE
CREATIVE DIRECTION: AMY SESSIONS
PHOTOGRAPHER: LESHA LICH WORDS: CAMILLE MACAWILI
What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like, your morning routine? I begin my day with 10 minutes of mindfulness – either light meditation or a gratitude journal. Then, I drink a glass of warm water with lemon to awaken my system, followed by a quick skincare routine using Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic’s signature products. I avoid my phone for the first 30 minutes to stay centred.
How did you know it was the right time to launch Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic, and which steps previously led you to this path? I always had a deep passion for beauty and wellness, and after years of working in the beauty industry and studying architecture and aesthetics, I knew it was time to create a space where advanced technology meets personalised care. The idea grew organically from my desire to give clients long-lasting results while honouring natural beauty. What are the core values that define and set Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic apart from the rest? Authenticity, excellence, innovation, and holistic care. We don’t follow trends – we set them. Every client receives a bespoke approach, and we only use the most advanced, clinically proven technologies with a focus on long-term wellness, not just quick fixes. What does an experience look like at Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic, and where do you start when it comes to working with a new client? It starts with listening. We take time to understand the client’s goals, lifestyle, and skin history. From there, we do a full diagnostic scan and customise a journey that may combine laser, facial, and body contouring treatments – all paired with education, so they feel empowered and supported.
What are the most common skincare issues you are seeing with your clients today? We see a lot of pigmentation, active acne, dehydration, and premature aging – often due to stress, hormones, or lifestyle. Our goal is to treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.
“Consistency, passion, and listening to my clients. I never compromise on quality and always evolve with innovation”
What new treatment that you have implemented in your offering is worth investing in regularly, and what are its benefits? BBL (BroadBand Light) combined with HALO has been a game-changer. It not only improves pigmentation and texture but also stimulates deep collagen production. The results are natural and cumulative – perfect for clients who want long-term rejuvenation. Time is a real luxury – which treatment would save time for clients who are time poor and deliver results? Morpheus8. It’s quick, minimally invasive, and delivers visible skin tightening and contouring in one session. It’s ideal for busy professionals who need powerful results without downtime.
Beyond treatments, what can we be doing to look after our skin naturally in a holistic way? Sleep, hydration, clean nutrition, daily SPF, and stress management are essential. I also encourage clients to take supplements based on their skin concerns and incorporate lymphatic drainage or gentle facial massages at home.
You’ve had an incredible journey in building the business. What are the milestones you’re most proud of? Opening the dental department, expanding into slimming and body contouring, introducing cuttingedge equipment like Ultherapy and Emsculpt NEO, and building a
team of strong, compassionate professionals. But most of all – gaining the trust of our loyal clients.
What are the challenges you’ve experienced, and what have you learned about yourself in overcoming them? Building a business as a female entrepreneur in a competitive market came with challenges – balancing creativity with business decisions, facing unexpected costs, and managing team dynamics. I’ve learned I’m far more resilient than I ever imagined.
To what do you credit your phenomenal success in business? Consistency, passion, and listening to my clients. I never compromise on quality and always evolve with innovation. My background in art and architecture also helped me design not just a clinic, but an inspiring experience.
This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you make time for yourself after a long day, and what are your non-negotiable self-care practices? Even on my busiest days, I carve out time for quiet. I love aromatherapy baths, a good facial mask, reading, or simply sitting in silence. My non-negotiables: skincare, sleep, journaling, and surrounding myself with beauty – both in people and spaces.

The Art of Self-Elevation
How Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic redefines luxury beauty with precision, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to leveling up
THE AESTHETICS: Stepping into Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic is to witness restraint perfected, like the kind of quiet luxury that speaks in marble, clean lines, and minimalism. The space offers a lesson in modern sophistication, where every detail has been considered, from the veined stone surfaces to the soft, ambient lighting. The interiors, inspired by the purity of high-end wellness sanctuaries, evoke a sense of calm, which is a welcome prelude to the precision treatments that follow. The aesthetic of the clinic is not merely visual, but also experiential.
THE EXPERIENCE: The clinic understands that true luxury lies in the details. It defines that it is not just in the technology it houses, but also in the way it is delivered. The experience is orchestrated with the finesse of a private concierge: consultations are thorough, treatments are tailored, and the rhythm of each visit is calibrated to the individual. Whether it’s the clinic’s famed skin lasers –Ulthera, Halo, BBL – or the sculpting prowess of Morpheus and Emsculpt, every service is rendered with precision. Yet, it never feels clinical. Instead, there’s an artful balance between science and indulgence, where a HydraFacial can be paired with an IV drip for layered rejuvenation, or a teeth-whitening session is elevated with cutting-edge X-ray diagnostics.
THE ETHOS: Zieda’s Aesthetic Clinic is unique in how it redefines the very notion of aesthetic enhancement. The clinic’s approach to dermatology, body contouring, and even complex scar treatments is rooted in the belief that the best results are those that appear effortless. It’s a philosophy that extends beyond the treatment room, reflected in the brand’s ambitions to offer best-in-class treatments while deepening its commitment to creating a community.

rituals and their personal take on true wellness
“Self-care, for me, is about slowing down and being present. It’s finding simple ways to reconnect with myself”
Sheyma Al Hammadi
Sheyma Al Hammadi
FOUNDER – GABI DUBAI
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? I then take a moment to disconnect – phone on silent, lights dimmed, and a quick skincare reset with cold water and a facial mist. I usually step outside for some fresh air. It helps me clear my mind and reset. What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? Right now, it’s the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Sensitive and the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Face Mist. Together they keep my skin calm and hydrated. I always pair that with a cup of chamomile tea – it’s a simple routine that helps me feel balanced. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Yes – the Dyson Airwrap. It changed my hair routine completely. It saves time, protects my hair, and gives that fresh, salon-like finish every time. Worth it. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Pilates has been such a positive shift for me. It’s become something I genuinely look forward to. It makes me feel stronger, more focused, and just better overall – physically and mentally. What does self-care mean to you? Self-care, for me, is about slowing down and being present. It’s finding simple ways to reconnect with myself – through movement, skincare, quiet moments, or anything that brings ease and clarity into my day.
Nouf Omar
PILOT
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? I like journaling, and setting down all my thoughts on a paper and rearranging them to priortise them. When my brain is too busy, and I put my emotions and feelings onto paper, it makes them easier to process. It calms me down but also helps me priortise my thoughts. Basically, it’s like brainstorming with myself.
What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? A massage and a spa
treatment. When I feel stressed, I feel like the only way to release that would be to physically release the pressure points by having a massage, and I feel like it takes me to a different world of pure relaxation and a blankness of not thinking about anything. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? I had laser hair removal done. I had delayed it for so long because of the pain that comes with it. But I realised that I actually really needed it and when I saw the results, I was very happy with my decision. My skin was much smoother and I felt much more confident.
Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? I think sticking to a skincare routine for me was life-changing. There was a point when I did a lot of research to figure out what worked best for my skin. And when I stick to my personalised skincare routine, it makes a difference in my appearance. My skin became better, and people around me saw the difference as well. Having a daily day and night routine helps me clear my mind and sets the tone for the rest of the day. What does self-care mean to you? It means putting me first, and prioritising myself in the hassle of life.
“When my brain is too busy, and I put my emotions and feelings onto paper, it makes them easier to process. It calms me down but also helps me priortise my thoughts”

“Sometimes it’s silence. Sometimes a purposeless walk. Or a moment alone. It’s not about routines or perfect checklists. It’s about attentiveness and gentleness toward yourself”
Ani Han
FOUNDER – ENSO DESIGN
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? When I feel like everything is piling up, I simply disconnect, from the phone, from tasks, from conversations. If I can, I step outside and walk barefoot on sand or grass. The key is to feel the ground and return to the body, to the moment, to myself. What’s your hero grail self-care product or treatment you swear by? Morning is my anchor. It has to begin without rush and with a ritual that restores focus: a spoonful of warm ghee on an empty stomach, a short walk outdoors, and a few moments in silence. It’s how I collect myself before stepping into the rhythm of the day.
Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? I spent nearly a month on an island designed for slowing down and
Asma Al Matrooshi
FOUNDER – EPIPHANY
reconnecting with nature. It was at Soneva, a place where the details speak for themselves. Biking in the rain, jungle silence, a sky open above your bed, it all recharges you from within. Solitude there isn’t an escape, but a way to hear yourself more deeply. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Breathing. I didn’t realise how much it affects everything, from energy to calm. Now each morning I breathe slowly, with pauses. This simple act helps align body and mind, making it easier to return to the present, without rush, without noise, just to be.
What does self-care mean to you? Self-care means starting to hear what you truly need, even when it doesn’t look like traditional “care.” Sometimes it’s silence. Sometimes a purposeless walk. Or a moment alone. It’s not about routines or perfect checklists. It’s about attentiveness and gentleness toward yourself.
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? Feeling overwhelmed is something very normal to go through on daily basis as a mom of three boys who is also an entrepreneur. I love being in nature, it has the most powerful effect on me. During winters, I love being close to the desert or mountains but in the summer, I prefer being close to the ocean: whether it’s diving, snorkeling or just swimming. I find doing an activity works the best to give me a glow.
What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? Vitamin C face creams or serums.
Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? La Prairie – it is an absolute splurge but very effective on my skin, personally.
Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? I tried body cold plunges and it was not something I enjoyed at all, but saunas works beautifully for my skin. What does self-care mean to you? Physical self-care is the most important part in my ritual as everything else falls after it. I believe the moment I stop working on it my emotional, spiritual and personal self-care get unorganised and heavy to maintain.

Roxie Nafousi
AUTHOR – MANIFEST
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? I have a long shower, get into pjs, and read a trashy fiction book on the sofa.
What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? Humantra!
They are the best electrolytes and keep my hydrated, energised and feeling well. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? My Oura ring. I am obsessed with knowing my sleep scores and working to improve them. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? I’m obsessed with Sound Baths – they are so healing; they help calm my nervous system and they’re a great way to have a nap! What does self-care mean to you? Nourishing your mind, body and soul and giving yourself the love and attention you deserve.

“When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I instinctively turn to a massage – it’s a grounding ritual that helps me reconnect with my body and quiet my mind”
Ingie Chalhoub
Ingie Chalhoub
FOUNDER & PRESIDENT –ETOILE GROUP
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I instinctively turn to a massage – it’s a grounding ritual that helps me reconnect with my body and quiet my mind. What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? The Abeille Royale Advanced Youth Watery Oil by Guerlain is my go-to skincare essential. Lightweight yet powerful, it blends honey and royal jelly to deeply hydrate and revitalise the skin. What makes it even more special is Guerlain’s commitment to sustainability – through bee conservation programs and eco-friendly practices, the brand ensures that beauty and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Yes – I once gifted myself for my birthday a rejuvenating stay at ChivaSom Health & Wellness Retreat in Thailand. It was a transformative experience that offered a true mental and physical reset. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Pilates has been truly impactful, especially for improving posture and overall body awareness. Whether on the mat, reformer, Cadillac, or on the Wunda Chair, the combination of mindful movement and a skilled instructor has been invaluable to my wellbeing. What does self-care mean to you? To me, self-care is the intentional act of pausing –of carving out space to breathe deeply, reconnect with my inner self, and attune to what my mind and body truly need. It’s found in the quiet rhythm of a song, the clarity that movement brings, and the moments of stillness that allow me to realign with my own sense of balance and presence.
Nada Al Ghurair FOUNDER – LIVIT
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? When I’m overwhelmed, I take it as a clear sign that my body’s asking for rest. I prioritise sleep, often planning an early night in to allow myself to slow down and reset. A calming tea, a hot bath, and a few quiet minutes with my journal help me let go of the mental clutter. I’ll step outside for a breath of fresh air and nourish myself with something gut-loving. It’s my way of listening inwards, softening the noise, grounding my energy, and giving myself a moment to pause. What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? Microneedling for my face has become a cornerstone in my skincare ritual. Over the past year, I’ve committed to
it consistently, and the transformation has been incredible, refined texture, a more luminous complexion, and an evenness that no serum alone could achieve. For me, skincare isn’t an indulgence; it’s an investment. Radiant, healthy skin is the ultimate luxury. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Absolutely, my silk pillowcases and sheets. They were definitely a splurge, but they’ve become a cherished part of my bedtime ritual. It’s helped me romanticise rest, and it’s made winding down something I genuinely look forward to. Plus, my skin and hair have never been happier. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? For me, it’s all about consistency over extremes. I try to fit in one sauna session per week, it’s my way to sweat, switch off, and reset. I also make time for a weekly massage, alternating between deep tissue and lymphatic, depending on how I’m feeling. Some weeks I need a full-body reset, others I just want something light and feel good. It’s become a form of maintenance for me, supporting both my body and mind. What does self-care mean to you? To me, self-care means creating space to pause, protect my peace, and reconnect with myself. It’s an act of self respect, choosing softness over pressure, presence over autopilot. It’s how I nurture my wellbeing, restore balance, and remind myself that I’m worthy of care, always.
Durana Elmi
CO-FOUNDER & COO –CYMBIOTIKA
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? I unplug and retreat into stillness. A red light sauna session followed by complete silence – no phone, no noise, just breath – has become my reset button. What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? The LYMA Laser is my go-to. It’s the only at-home treatment I’ve found that visibly lifts, firms, and transforms my skin. I also can’t live without Dr. Diamond’s Metacine. Which is luxury skincare with retinol, hyaluronic acid, plasma for youthful, glowing skin.
Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Yes – my red light sauna. It’s my sanctuary and has elevated everything from my sleep and stress response to overall recovery.
Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Cymbiotika’s Colostrum has been a game-changer for my gut health and skin. It also tastes amazing so I selfishly indulge and reap all the benefits. Also, regular acupuncture took my wellness to the next level. It brings balance, reduces stress, and helps me stay centered in the midst of a demanding schedule.
“Self-care is discipline – it’s about creating boundaries, honouring your energy, and choosing rituals that nourish your body and spirit”

ARTIST
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? When I feel overwhelmed I often take a step back and ground myself through something tactile like working with ceramics or drawing. It becomes less about fixing the feeling and more about making space for it. There’s something really calming about working with materials that respond to touch. It becomes a quiet conversation between me and the medium.
Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? I constantly find myself splurging on tools, materials, or equipment,
especially when I’m in the early stages of an idea. The moment I believe in a project, I feel the need to support it with whatever it needs to grow. Whether it’s a new material I’m curious about or a tool that can help bring out a specific texture or form, I tend to go all in. For me, it’s not just about the object itself, but about committing to the process. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Pilates has definitely been one of the few wellness practices
that’s made a lasting difference for me. Over time, it’s become more than just a workout. It’s a way to reset, especially when I’m overwhelmed or creatively drained. It grounds me, clears out that mental fog, and reminds me to move with intention.
What does self-care mean to you? Self-care, for me, has become less about routines and more about self-awareness. It’s about knowing when to slow down, when to say no, and when to give myself space – mentally, emotionally, and physically. It’s not always the obvious things like skincare or a day off. Sometimes self-care is doing the difficult stuff, like setting boundaries or being honest with myself when something isn’t working.
Khulood
Mohammed
PODCASTER & DIGITAL CREATOR
What’s your go-to ritual when you’re feeling overwhelmed? I like to unplug literally from everything. Mentally, me time is very important to me so you’ll usually find me in my cosy bed with my favourite snack and watching my comfort movies or maybe listen to a podcast What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? My self-care products are my babies. I could name a few but if something stands out it would always be a rich body oil that smells so heavenly it makes me feel like a princess.
Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Of course! Every face mask product I ever bought was worth every penny. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? Cold plunges are something I tried a while back, and they made a huge difference, especially with my sleep. I felt more energised, like there was more ‘life’ in me, so yes, definitely a game changer. What does self-care mean to you? Protecting my peace is what self-care means to me. I don’t mind being a little selfish sometimes, cancelling plans and just having some me time at home. I also believe self-care is about getting to know yourself better, what you like, what you don’t. We’re often so invested in others (which isn’t a bad thing), but we tend to forget to check in with our own needs. Learning yourself is just as important.
“Self-care has become less about routines and more about selfawareness. It’s about knowing when to slow down, when to say no, and when to give myself space – mentally, emotionally, and physically”
“Protecting my peace is what selfcare means to me”

Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed I usually either go for a walk by the beach to recharge myself and clear my head a little, or sometimes even go in for an evening Lagree class. But my usual remedy that works on me like a charm is a nice long, warm everything shower.
What’s your hero self-care product or treatment you swear by? I’ve noticed a great difference when I started icing my face first thing in the morning. I go in with massaging my face for as long as I can, concentrating on certain areas to also help achieve that snatched look. I find that the cold sensation gets the blood flowing across my face, giving me a great morning pick-me-up. My product holy grail is a tough one but if I really had to choose it would be The Fix face potion from Khus+Khus. Have you invested in a self-care splurge that was 100% worth it? Maybe not beauty related. But I would consider vacations or trips investment or self-care splurges that are always 100% worth it. I think it’s very important to take time off, allowing your nervous system to heal and recharge. Is there a wellness practice that actually made a difference for you? I personally am not a fan of the cold so no cold plunges for

me, but I do believe in having regular lymphatic massages to help with blood circulation as well and breaking down toxins to then flush them out. I am a fan of traditional Finnish saunas as well. I love a good Moroccan bath (hammam) as well. What does self-care mean to you? Over time
the meaning of self-care has evolved and has become more of a state of mind. Being able to take time to recluse, be offline and off the grid when I need to slow down is what I consider self-care. More simply, it’s recognising when I’m overwhelmed and addressing that instead of just pushing through with a band aid fix.

INNOVATING WELLNESS
Andy Mant, Co-Founder & CEO of BON CHARGE on selfcare through
detoxing, red light therapy and the future of wellness powered by tech
What was the catalyst to launching BON CHARGE ? Struggling to get a good night’s sleep, I discovered the negative impact of blue light and began experimenting with my own solutions to get a better night’s rest. Nothing that was available on the market really met my needs in terms of both function and style, hence I decided to develop my own. It was a long and sometimes difficult journey – but incredibly rewarding when my wife Katie and I realised we were growing a viable business that provides real, tangible benefits to people’s everyday lives. It wasn’t long before we started looking into the benefits of red light – and built out our ranges as you see them today across sleep, beauty, recovery and wellness. Can you explain how red and near-infrared light therapy works at a cellular level, especially in terms of skin health? Red light (wavelengths between 620–700 nm) and near infrared (wavelengths between 700–1100 nm) penetrate the skin, bone and muscle to stimulate cellular processes through what is called photobiomodulation. These wavelengths are absorbed by the mitochondria – the energy centres of cells, or our ‘batteries’ if you will – leading to increased production of the substance adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main source of our cells’ energy. Near infrared penetrates deeper than red light, reaching tissues beyond the skin, so being exposed to both types can be beneficial for not just the skin but also our muscles and joints. It’s also why we have integrated both into most of our product designs – to maximise these benefits and make them available for everyday use.
Skincare tech can feel intimidating. How do you approach educating customers on proper use and benefits? Simply making the information available in a way that people can easily understand - and giving examples or analogies where possible that might be relevant for our audiences. We are lucky to have technical writers and content specialists in the team, who take complex scientific detail and concepts, turning them into clear and digestible content – but at its core, we always aim to give straightforward guidance. This includes things like the basic premise of red light and how it benefits our bodies, to how to use specific products, including duration, frequency, and any important safety precautions. How has LED light therapy changed the at home skincare game? We believe that we’ve helped to democratise skincare. By making what used
to be professional treatments accessible at home, devices like our Red Light Face Mask and Red Light Face Wand allow people to target specific skin issues without the need for frequent salon visits. Of course at-home treatments can be done at any time, fitting into busy schedules – but there’s a cost benefit as well in addition to the convenience. All of this is part of the bigger reason why there is increasing interest and demand for highquality wellness and beauty tech products. Which product consistently drives sales? Our red light face mask. It was launched about two years ago and very quickly became our best-selling product globally.
Where do you see the future of at-home light therapy heading in the next 5 years? We love the way wellness is converging and integrating into everyday life. BON CHARGE™ is doing our part as well, such as integrating both red and near infrared light into our other products, such as our infrared PEMF Sauna dome, which is the culmination of three different types of cutting edge technology; PEMF, Sauna and Red Light Therapy. As people continue to be increasingly short on time and flexibility, we need to provide products that maximise the benefits of an at-home self-care session. There will be plenty more to come in the next five years from us, too – but I don’t want to be too specific and give anything away just yet.
How did you identify blue light as the first problem to tackle in the wellness space? It was a personal experience that started it all! Both Katie and I were experiencing sleep problems, and in looking into some possible solutions, we decided to try minimising the blue light in our evenings by using blue light blocking glasses and human centric lighting.
Small changes had an immediate and noticeable impact, and from that day we wanted to make sure there were products available to people who were like us, and wanted a functional, but stylish solution that they could wear to improve their sleep quality as well. Our first range of products were blue light blocking glasses, and it’s grown exponentially since then into many other areas of wellness.
What does your own wellness routine look like, and how do BON CHARGE products fit into it? I am an early riser. I love to get up just before the sun rises and take myself outside. This helps align my circadian rhythm for the day which fills me full of energy and also helps me sleep better later in the evening. I also ensure I walk barefoot on the grass whilst watching the sunrise to help my ground to the earth to boost my energy for the day. I have to work a lot in front of screens so I ensure I get regular sun breaks outside to keep my hormones happy and healthy. I balance the blue light on my screen with red light, which is beneficial for the wellbeing of my eyes and energy levels. I then watch the sunset, practice breathwork and then perform 20 minutes of Red Light Therapy before putting on my
Blue Light Blocking Glasses and relaxing into my evening. I also practice the 3.2.1 rule before bed to ensure optional sleep. That’s stop eating three hours before bed, stop drinking two hours before and no screen one hour before sleep.
Since launching in 2017, how has the wellness tech landscape changed – and how has BON CHARGE adapted? As with everything, the landscape has become more advanced and in line with this, customer expectations have also evolved to become more sophisticated. In 2017, at-home wellness devices were a luxury and to a degree, a bit of a novelty. Now however, products like our face mask or neck and chest mask are commonly seen as a key step in daily skincare routines, for example. The impact that blue light
emitted by our screen use has on our bodies is also much more widely understood and recognised, so again blue light blocking devices are no longer unusual or uncommon like they used to be. In response to this evolution, we ourselves continue to innovate. This is why we’re looking at converging features to maximise benefits for modern daily life, and bringing other unique product offerings to market. It’s through innovation – and the really exciting products we have in the pipeline – that we’ll remain leaders in the global wellness technology space.
This is The Self-care Issue – what’s a non-negotiable in your self-care routine? A complete non-negotiable for me is wearing my Blue Light Blocking Glasses three hours before bed, watching the sunrise and being outside as much as possible throughout the day. I believe light plays an incredibly important role in human health and longevity and ensuring I am under the correct natural light throughout my day and into the evening is essential for me.

PAUSE AND PLAY
CEO of Aman Essentials, Kristina Romanova, on creating a line of wellness essentials that instills stillness and the inspiration behind Aman Tennis Club - a new, refined leisurewear line of on- and off-court staples
What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like, your morning routine? I start my mornings quietly and without rush. I wake up early, take a few moments to breathe deeply, and ease into the day with warm water and a short walk or stretch – ideally outdoors. It’s a way to check in with myself before the world starts asking things of me. That sense of calm is essential – it sets the tone for everything that follows.
What are the values that define Aman Essentials as a brand and how do you ensure that it meets these expectations in every product?
Aman Essentials is rooted in simplicity, integrity, and sensory depth. Every product we create must feel purposeful – never excessive, never trend-led. From formulation to design, it’s about delivering quiet luxury that genuinely supports wellbeing. I’m involved in the details, always asking: does this feel aligned with how we want our customers to feel – held, restored, and at peace? The products are designed to bring the Aman experience into daily life. How do you envision Aman Essentials enhancing one’s personal rituals? We all yearn for grounding moments in our day – especially in a world that moves so quickly. Aman Essentials harnesses the healing powers of the earth to create these moments. A body oil that turns your morning into a ritual, a fragrance that signals transition from work to rest, or a T-shirt from The Aman Tennis Club that fuses function and style. These are tools that elevate the everyday into something more intentional. Aman is synonymous with serenity and intentionality. How do you personally define selfcare, and how does that philosophy shape the products you develop? For me, self-care means creating space to pause and reconnect – whether that’s through skincare, a walk in nature, or simply turning off notifications. It’s about tuning in rather than tuning out. Our products are designed to support that mindset. They’re not about masking or fixing; they’re about caring – deeply and consistently. We believe that self-care is not just at the surface level but comes from within. The Aman lifestyle emphasises minimalism and mindfulness. How do you balance the demands of entrepreneurship and lead with intention while maintaining a centered mindset? It’s an ongoing practice. I’ve learned to prioritise clarity over control – choosing what truly needs my attention. That’s where stillness comes in. Whether it’s taking 10 minutes to reset between meetings or walking instead of emailing, I lead best when I’m grounded. Intention is a muscle – it gets stronger with use.
Aman Essentials offers a range of skincare collections – Grounding, Purifying, Nourishing, and Essential Skin. How do these lines reflect different facets of well-being? Each line
supports a different emotional and physical state. Grounding helps anchor you when life feels hectic. Purifying is about releasing and restoring clarity. Nourishing offers comfort and replenishment, while Essential Skin is a minimalist, everyday foundation. They’re designed to meet you where you are and support what you need most in the moment. Aman Essentials has expanded into readyto-wear and accessories. How do these offerings complement the brand’s wellnessfocused origins? Our expansion into readyto-wear and accessories has been a natural extension of our philosophy – thoughtful, timeless, and deeply attuned to how something makes you feel. These pieces are not just about form, but about function, grounded in comfort and confidence. Whether it’s the softness of hand-combed cashmere, the fluid elegance of silk, or the refined tailoring of a versatile silhouette, each item is crafted to support ease and presence in motion.
The Aman Tennis Club collection is a beautiful example – athletic yet elevated, it reflects the harmony between movement and mindfulness. Designed for both performance and leisure, it carries the spirit of Aman into moments of play, discipline, and self-discovery. Together, these offerings extend our vision of wellness into every layer of daily life – from rituals of rest to rituals of activity.
The recently launched Aman Tennis Club spans on- and off-court essentials. What inspired this? The Aman Tennis Club was born from a desire to explore movement as a mindful ritual – where precision, rhythm, and breath come together in quiet focus. Tennis, in particular, embodies that duality: it’s both powerful and poised, competitive yet deeply meditative. We envisioned a collection that could support this experience holistically – on the court with refined, technical performance pieces, and off the court with elevated layers designed for recovery, travel, and everyday elegance. Rooted in Aman’s philosophy of intentional living, the Aman Tennis Club reflects the beauty of presence in motion.
To you, what are the brand’s hero products? It’s hard to say as I love them all. However, several pieces have become essential to me, each for different reasons. The Nourishing Sacred Heart Balm is something I reach for daily – it’s deeply comforting, both physically and emotionally. The Purifying Palo Santo Salve is incredibly grounding, especially during travel or transitional moments. Our Essential Skin collection, developed and made in Japan, is the quiet hero of my skincare ritual – elegant in formulation, intuitive in use, and incredibly effective. And of course, the Grounding Smoked Body Butter continues to be a personal favourite – its scent alone is transformative. These

products each reflect a different dimension of wellbeing, and together they form a powerful foundation for ritual and renewal.
As a mother and CEO, how do you instill the values of balance and intentional living in both your family and your company culture? It starts with presence. I try to be fully wherever I am – whether that’s at home, at work, or with myself. At Aman, we talk a lot about quality over quantity – creating space to think, create, and care well. At home, I
model that by protecting quiet moments with my family and encouraging my children to slow down and notice how they feel. This is The Self-Care Issue – what are your non-negotiable self-care rituals? Breathwork is at the heart of my self-care. Just a few conscious minutes of deep, intentional breathing can shift everything – energy, focus, emotion. I try to begin and end my day that way. Whenever possible, I take my yoga practice outdoors. Moving through breath and posture in nature – under open sky, with the sounds of the earth around me – is both humbling and restorative. It’s a ritual that recenters me, no matter where I am in the world.
HOLISTIC AESTHETICS
Dr. Nina Bal,

skin laxity is a concern. Device-led treatments such as InMode Contoura and Endolift work beautifully to create a sculpting and lifting effect, the results of these can have a huge impact on the lower third of the face where we often witness skin laxity.
You focus on the ‘Golden Ratio of Beauty’ in your work. Could you explain how this concept guides your treatments? The Golden Ratio defines how the human eye perceives beauty. I follow the ratio rules when I am analysing a patient’s facial structure. I firstly look for the symmetry for the three thirds of the face and combine this with a mathematical ratio approach to consider the features, then, I use my artistic side to create a beautiful and harmonious balance to the face. This is a delicate equation of mathematics and creative skill. For example, in practice, if a patient has a recessive or weak chin, I look at the ratio of the three thirds of the face and measure it with a ruler, then I consider the side profile to increase the projection to where it should align with the positioning of the lips. There is a very specific ratio between the top and bottom lips, if someone has a very thin upper lip, I work to increase the volume to create a balance to the proportions. On a malocclusion class 2 (where the chin is retracted), I increase the horizontal projection of the chin with fillers. In a malocclusion class 3 (where the chin is over projecting), I increase the lip projection with filler, with the goal to create a softer and more aligned profile and balance between the lips and chin.

Talk us through your background. I am one hundred percent Italian. My medical background is in dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. After completing my degree in Milan, I worked in cosmetic dentistry and decided to move to London – this was 15 years ago. In London, I started my move into facial aesthetics. I always loved the art of symmetry and beauty, so facial aesthetics I believe has always been destined for me.
How do you define face sculpting with a holistic approach? My approach is always holistic. When I analyse my patients, I consider the ageing process, I ensure to educate them on how and why we age so they understand the clinical procedures fully. My reports are very detailed, and I look to target all three skin layers: the epidermis at the top, the dermis (middle) and the subcutaneous layer underneath. I often rely on my anatomical knowledge from my dentistry background that helps me to identify areas to treat using the skeletal and dental form as my guide. From this analysis, I can create a very bespoke treatment plan to deliver beautiful results. What inspired you to transition from cosmetic dental surgery to facial aesthetics? It was a very natural pathway for me, I allowed myself to follow my passions for medicine, aesthetics and fashion. I found my dream job in facial aesthetics, where I can use my aesthetic creativity and my medical expertise. I love science and creativity. What emerging trends or technologies in aesthetics are you most excited about? First and foremost, I love the art of injectables, and I see daily how they can be used to sculpt and perfect the architecture of the face. There’s a surge in popularity of injectables to address skin quality and focus on skin regeneration like polynucleotides, Profhilo, and skin boosters. I witness such a difference in improved skin quality when I integrate these regenerative treatments both for myself and for my patients. I am a believer in a good skin peel to address skin clarity. I Like the new AlumierMD Radiant TXA Peel– it truly helped me with my melasma. I turn to device-led treatments where
How do you ensure subtlety while achieving noticeable enhancements? For me, my work is all about bringing out someone’s natural beauty. I am not changing anything, I am just correcting, balancing and enhancing. Working on the symmetry and facial structure and then addressing the canvas – ensuring the skin tone and clarity is also enhanced.
“For me, my work is all about bringing out someone’s natural beauty. I am not changing anything, I am just correcting, balancing and enhancing”
How do you approach creating personalised treatment plans for your clients? It’s all about understanding the ageing process and the structure of the skin. Assessing the facial contours and taking into consideration any malocclusions. Applying the golden ratio to create the perfect balance and then addressing any skin conditions. Why does gut health matter when it comes to good skin? Gut health is at the basis of skin health, skin conditions such as rosacea and acne are related to gut health and the skin can be a window to reflect what is going on, on the inside. I work closely with my patients to help their skin glow with health. I encourage a healthy lifestyle and work with my clients often via the GetHarley platform, to prescribe a tailored, clinicalgrade skincare routine. I also advocate daily supplements and work with the nutritionists at W-Wellness to ensure the right supplements are integrated into their daily routine. It is important my patients are working on their skinhealth from the inside and out. What advice would you offer someone considering their first aesthetic treatment? Do your research and ensure you are going to a qualified medical professional. Aesthetic treatments are medical treatments and are not to be undertaken lightly. I think it’s also paramount that you align with the aesthetic of the practitioner. Study the before and after photos to see whether you like their eye. I also advise to have a consultation so you can see whether you feel at ease with the person and take the opportunity to ask all the questions to include downtime and address complications.
This is The Self-Care Issue – what is your non-negotiable when it comes to your self-care routine? For me exercising and moving the body is important. Prioritising sleep and eating well and daily meditation for me is a must.

MIND & BODY
We discuss the mindbody connection, going with the flow and being kind to yourself with Dubai & London based Pilates and Yoga instructor, and founder of Cruz the Label, Kitti Gomobos
WORDS: AMY SESSIONS
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change according to your travel schedule? My morning routine is so important to me – it allows me to start my day feeling calm and sets me up to move through it in the most optimal way. I wake up at 5:30 am every day, take my dog out for a quick 5 minutes, then I make my coffee. I love my coffee in the morning – it’s my non-negotiable. While I sip it in silence, I write in my journal and set out my to-do list for the day to keep me focused and accountable. I follow that with putting on my Cruz the Label socks and doing a short 5 to 10-minute Pilates and stretch session on the mat to get my body moving. This is my moment of stillness where I reflect, set my intentions, and check in with myself – before my son wakes up and the stillness quickly shifts into the kind of chaos only single parents truly understand. To show up as the best version of myself – for my son and for my clients – that quiet hour in the morning is absolutely essential. I travel a lot – mainly every five weeks – between London and Dubai, so my routine naturally shifts when I’m away. With jet lag, I tend to wake up much later than usual, but one thing that never changes is my morning coffee and a quick 5 to 10-minute Pilates session to get my body moving after a long flight. It makes such a difference, not just physically, but it also helps me shake off jet lag. When I travel, I love exploring new studios, trying out different movement classes, playing paddle, and soaking in the local culture and restaurants. My routine becomes more fluid, and I truly believe in balance – so I don’t hold myself to a strict schedule when I’m away. I like to go with the flow and enjoy the experience. That said, my short morning movement practice is something I always find time for, no matter where I am in the world. What drove you to become interested in the mind-body connection and how beneficial is it in daily life? My interest in the mind-body connection started sixteen years ago when I began practicing yoga. At the time, I was working long hours while studying at university, running on very little sleep and living on poor nutrition. It all caught up with me when I fainted – first in the office, and then at home. It was a wake-up call that something had to change.
“The unknown is scary. The risk of failure is scary. But the biggest loss of all is not trying”
I turned to yoga to calm both my body and mind, and I started nourishing myself with healthier, more balanced food. That combination changed my life forever. I discovered Pilates nine years ago after my son was born, when I developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrist so I could not keep up with the yoga classes. The combination of yoga, Pilates, and balanced nutrition has helped me find true balance – mentally and physically – and it continues to be the foundation of my well-being today. What is the biggest difference you see in clients you teach regularly? Most of my clients usually start Pilates because they want to feel stronger, more toned, or they have an important event coming up where they want to look and feel their best. But what’s really beautiful to see is that after just a few sessions, they keep coming back – not just for the physical results, but for the mental clarity and mood-boosting benefits. Practicing something you love, that brings calm and focus
into your life, is the true magic of Pilates. That’s when the real transformation happens – when you start to shine from the inside out. How would you differentiate the benefits of Pilates compared with yoga? I love them both – yoga and Pilates are incredible practices for building the mind-body connection, as they both link movement with the control of the breath. Pilates, however, focuses more on strengthening the core and activating those deep, often overlooked muscles. Through the power of the exhale, Pilates helps to build a strong foundation that supports the body in everyday life, in other sports, and as we age, by strengthening the muscles that need extra attention. It leaves you feeling calm, centered, and balanced – while also giving you a toned and resilient body. Yoga, on the other hand, is a powerful practice for building flexibility, mobility, and mental strength. It combines movement with breath, and often includes meditation and relaxation at the end of the class, helping to create a deep sense of peace and clarity. The two truly complement each other, and I always recommend finding time for both in your weekly routine to experience their full benefits.
How often do you practice and how long for? I do my morning routine of 5 to 10 minutes of Pilates six days a week. It’s short, but it’s consistent – and it sets me up for the day ahead. I lead group classes and work with clients five days a week, and because I demonstrate a lot, I’m moving throughout the day. Even so, I still find it important to add intentional movement outside of my teaching. Walking is one of my favourite ways to move. I also try to attend at least one full 50-minute class each week, not just for the workout, but because I believe it’s important to keep learning and stay inspired.
How much should we be doing to see results by summer? Consistency is key. I truly believe it’s far more effective to do 5, 10, or 20 minutes a day, five to six days a week, than to rely on just one class a week. When you enjoy it and build it into your routine, it becomes a habit –and that’s when the real results start to show. It’s not about ticking off a chore you have to do once or twice a week; it’s about making movement part of your lifestyle. It’s also about building that mind-body connection and feeling confident from the inside out. I always encourage my clients to stay consistent and develop a routine – whether it’s 10 minutes of mat Pilates a day or adding in Reformer classes or yoga when their schedule allows. My clients are always surprised by how much of a difference just 10 minutes a day can make – not only in how they look but more importantly, in how they feel when they stick with it.
You launched Cruz the Label. How did you know it was the right time to launch your own brand and how did you get started? I launched Cruz the Label just over a year ago because I saw a real gap in the market – socks that weren’t tied to one specific studio or plastered with oversized branding. I wanted to create something people could wear confidently all day long – not just in class.
For me, socks are the first step in my morning routine. You slip them on, you start moving, and that small action already sets the tone for the day. I wanted Cruz the Label socks to feel soft, comfortable, and easy to wear with anything – whether you’re heading to a class, walking the dog, or just going about your day.
It was important to me that they weren’t the kind of socks you leave at home by accident and end up buying another pair at the studio – just because you have to, not because you love them. I put a lot of thought, time, and research into sourcing the best materials and creating a design that feels as good as it looks.
What are the core values of your brand? At Cruz the Label, we’re on a mission to revolutionise your workout experience with our exceptional Pilates grip socks. Our journey began with a simple idea: to merge fashion-forward design with functionality, offering sleek Pilates grip socks to streamline your busy lifestyle. With our modern, minimalist approach, these socks seamlessly transition from the mat to the street, ensuring you’re always ready for whatever the day brings. We believe that being workout-ready anytime leads to more movement, greater gains, and radiant self-confidence.
We want to empower women to live a beautiful healthy life and shine from the inside out!
What was the inspiration behind the collection? I wanted Cruz the Label socks to feel sleek, timeless, classic, and elegant – which is why we started with three essential colours: Coconut (white), Sand (beige), and Smoke (black). These are the kind of colours you can wear effortlessly with any outfit, all day long – whether you’re heading to class, running errands, or relaxing at home.
We also introduced limited-edition styles like our pink and grey socks featuring playful martini glass grips on the bottom. These were designed with a fun, summer energy in mind – something a little more colourful to brighten your mood or bring a smile to your day. And yes, the martini glasses were inspired by my personal fa-
vourite drink – a dirty vodka martini with olives. It felt like the perfect playful touch to balance the classic core collection with something unexpected and lighthearted. We’ve also added scrunchies to match our core collection colours. These are designed to be stylish enough to wear on your wrist all day long, so they’re always ready when it’s time to tie your hair back and start your workout routine. With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve? I’m simply trying to stay true to myself – sharing what I feel, what I do, and how I navigate life as a boy mum, a dog mom, and a Pilates instructor. I’m not here to impress anyone. My hope is to inspire others to start moving and to experience the calm, confidence, and happiness that movement can bring.
I can only hope that this shines through in my posts. In the middle of all the noise – where everyone is chasing the next technique, trend, reel, video, post, story, or TikTok to beat the algorithm – I truly believe one thing will never change: authenticity is the key. And that’s what I choose to show up with every single day.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Show up with confidence and let go of any imposter syndrome. We only receive what we are bold enough to ask for, and what we’re brave enough to take a leap of faith for. The unknown is scary. The risk of failure is scary. But the biggest loss of all is not trying.
If you believe in yourself and put your heart and soul into what you do, the universe will respond. Trust the process, take the leap, and go after what you truly want.
This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? Practicing gratitude has been my anchor throughout the years. I always try to find something good and positive in my life, even during the most challenging times. Between the highs and lows, life holds a beautiful balance – and it’s up to us to notice and appreciate the small moments that bring us joy.
I also believe in the power of letting go. I often visualise releasing stress, past experiences, and anxiety with every exhale while practicing Pilates or yoga and I encourage my clients to do the same. There will always be things outside of our control, and worrying about them only drains our energy. Instead, I try to focus on what is in my control – how I move, how I show up, and where I choose to direct my thoughts. I choose to put my energy into the present, the future, and all the good that already exists in my life.

SELF INVESTMENT
Accredited Psychological Coach and Founder of The Lucy Spicer Practice, Lucy Spicer has over a decade of expericne in the psychology field. We discuss what it means to invest in being your best self and when it matters most
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change or not according to your travel schedule? I truly believe that your best day starts with your best mindset. Too often, our mornings start with picking up our phones, scrolling through social media, and instantly comparing our lives to others, draining our dopamine levels and overwhelming our minds before the day has even begun. My morning routine is designed to counter that: I start with a coffee in bed (this always feels like a small luxury), followed by journaling, taking my supplements and going for a walk around my local area, all before I have checked my phone. This routine is intentionally minimal but impactful, and is easy to maintain wherever I am in the world – you’ll even find me journaling mid-flight.
What drove you to become interested in psychology and how important is focusing on taking care of your mind? I started studying psychology when I was sixteen years old and it was the first topic I was completely captivated by at school. I was fascinated by the power of the mind and human behaviour, and went on to achieve an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in the field. At 17 I went on a trip to Lourdes in France to care for the sick and dying. It was this experience that shaped my ‘why’, a deeprooted desire to make a real difference in people’s lives. It’s what fuelled my work in specialist hospitals during my time in the NHS, and continues to drive me in my private practice today. You are the one person you’re guaranteed to live with for the rest of your life, so it’s important to make your internal world a place you want to be. Do you see common themes clients come to you for support with and how does this differ across genders or age ranges? I feel incredibly
fortunate to work with such a diverse range of clients, but despite that variety, there are definitely common themes that come up time and time again. Many seek support for anxiety, imposter syndrome, self-criticism, and low self-esteem. I also work with clients navigating relationship challenges, dating, career transitions, launching businesses, or simply feeling lost and disconnected from life. A significant number of my clients are high performers on paper, their lives might look ‘perfect’ on the outside, but internally, they’re struggling with pressure, burnout, or a deep sense of dissatisfaction. Each person’s experience is unique. I always tailor my approach to the individual, taking into account their personality, stage of life and goals. For example, a challenge I’m supporting more clients with recently is the anxiety and emotional toll surrounding fertility and the journey to conceive. Ultimately, regardless of age or gender, my goal is always to help people feel more connected to themselves and empowered to create change.
What is the biggest difference you see in clients you work with on a regular basis, what improvements do you see? I’m grateful to receive such amazing client feedback, which I keep in a document titled ‘Love Notes.’ Clients have shared that I’ve been “the best investment” they’ve ever made, that I’ve “changed their life,” and that they “never imagined this level of change was possible.”
“You are the one person you’re guaranteed to live with for the rest of your life, so it’s important to make your internal world a place you want to be”
The biggest difference I see in the clients I work with regularly is the complete transformation in their mindset and overall wellbeing. They gain real clarity on their vision for life – what they want, what they value, and how they want to feel day to day. Their mental health becomes stronger, and they experience a deep sense of inner peace. They’re no longer running on autopilot or people-pleasing –they’re anchored in gratitude, unafraid to set boundaries, and finally prioritise their own needs without guilt. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how this inner work ripples out into their wider world too. Many of my clients go on to secure promotions, (some with 50% pay rises), others make bold life changes, launch their own business or start new, healthy relationships. They describe feeling genuinely happy, free and content. They move from self-doubt to self-belief, equipped with practical tools they can come back to time and again. Ultimately, they develop a whole new mindset – confident, calm and in control of their own lives. What small acts of self-care could you share that people can do daily to decompress if they are feeling stressed or anxious? Stress and anxiety often stem from our perception of threat, triggering the
sympathetic nervous system activating the body’s stress response. To counter this, I focus on quick, effective, and science-backed strategies that help regulate the nervous system and restore a sense of inner calm. One of the most powerful tools we all have is our breath. Try inhaling for a count of four and exhaling for a count of six on repeat, this slower breath sends a signal to your brain that you’re safe and can relax. To deepen the effect, pair your breath with the affirmation: “I am safe.” When we feel stressed and anxious, we’re often caught in thoughts about the future. A simple grounding technique can help bring you back to the present: name five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can feel, two you can smell, and one you can taste. This sensory ‘check-in’ helps anchor your mind in the moment and soothes the body’s stress response. These small acts of self-care can be done anywhere and are powerful tools to support your emotional wellbeing each day. How did you know it was the right time to launch your own practice and how did you get started? I don’t believe there’s ever a perfect time to launch a business. In fact, many people hold themselves back waiting for the “right moment” instead of taking the leap and starting. In 2019, with one client paying me £100 a month and living back at home with my parents, I launched The Lucy Spicer Practice from my childhood bedroom. I had already built a following on social media through my hobbies in the wellness and fitness space in London, so I pivoted my content to focus on psychology and coaching. Like many entrepreneurs, I quickly became a one-woman show – teaching myself everything from marketing and branding, to bookkeeping and web design. Shortly after I launched, the world went into lockdown. It was a time when many began reflecting on their lives and prioritising their mental health. As a result, my business grew rapidly and I was able to support people globally through such an uncertain time. Looking back, it wasn’t about the timing being perfect – it was about trusting my vision and being willing to take a risk.
Have you encountered any negativity in the wellness space and how did you deal with it? I’ve been in the wellness space for over a decade and, overall, it’s been an incredibly positive and supportive environment. I’ve built a global network of founders, brands, and likeminded professionals, many of whom I now call friends. A reflection of this is the calibre of guests who have featured on my podcast, The Journal with Lucy Spicer. Every guest I’ve invited, irrespective of status, social media following or ‘fame’, has said yes! In fact, three of my four bridesmaids are women I’ve met through my business, which highlights the depth of connection this industry can offer.
Of course, no journey is without its challenges. In a social media-driven world, visibility also opens you up to being copied or imitated. I’ve experienced instances where my website and content have been replicated by other coaches. While it’s frustrating to see your work reproduced, I’ve chosen to handle these situations professionally and stay grounded in the knowledge that your true value lies in your individuality. No one can replicate your voice, energy, or authenticity, no one is you – and that’s your greatest strength! What are the core values of your brand? At the center of my brand are six core values: Freedom, Flexibility, Trust, Credibility, Expertise, and Luxury. These values guide everything I create and offer, from coaching and events to internal systems and resources. My mission is to help clients build lives that feel authentic, empowered, and fulfilling. Every aspect of my work is designed to be flexible and accessible, meeting clients where they are, regardless of how busy their schedules may be. With a strong foundation in psychology and over a decade of hands-on experience, I take an evidencebased approach that is both credible and impactful to create sustainable change that lasts. Most importantly, I believe wellness should be experienced as a luxury, something that elevates your life
rather than feeling like a chore. My business is structured to allow me to support clients across the globe, while also giving me the freedom to work from anywhere too!
With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve? With social media constantly evolving, I stay ahead of the curve by staying connected to my community, leading with intention and implementing their feedback - rather than simply following trends. I focus on creating content that adds genuine value, whether that’s through psych-education, inspiration, or connection. I also make a point to regularly invest in my own learning, whether it’s through courses, working with a social media manager or keeping an eye on emerging platforms and features. Most importantly, I stay grounded in my brand values and message, so no matter how the algorithm shifts, my content remains authentic, relevant, and impactful.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self, it would be: Believe in yourself. I attended a selective all-girls school, and with that came a lot of toxicity that impacted my self-esteem. I often underestimated my own abilities, not realising that the conventional education system wasn’t the right fit for me and that I had surrounded myself with the wrong influences.
Looking back now, especially when I reflect on milestones like selling out events, hosting corporate masterclasses, collaborating with dream brands and receiving opportunities I once couldn’t have imagined, I often wonder, what would my younger self think? I believe she would be incredibly proud of the life I’ve built.
This is The Self- Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? We can often be our own harshest critics, saying things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to others. The relationship we have with ourselves is essential, especially during challenging times. I strive to treat myself as my own best friend, checking in regularly to understand how I’m feeling, why I’m feeling that way, and most importantly, what I need at that moment to get myself back on track. Whether it’s journaling my thoughts, booking a Pilates class, leaning on my support network, or simply taking time to rest, I have a range of self-care tools that help me navigate tough moments with kindness and self-compassion. It’s about being gentle with myself and allowing space to recharge, so that I can feel like the best version of me.

AM TO PM BEAUTY
Wellness entrepreneur Maitha Al Matrooshi shares her morning to evening beauty routine
Talk us through your morning routine. My mornings are my foundation; I start with movement, even if it’s just ten minutes of stretching or breathwork. As an athlete and coach, I believe in waking the body up with intention. After that, I dive into my skincare, which I treat like a grounding ritual more than a beauty step. I begin with Shu Uemura’s Tsubaki cleansing oil; it’s gentle, luxurious, and leaves my skin feeling clean without stripping it. Next, I apply Decorté’s serum to hydrate and prep my skin. For moisture, I swear by Crème de la Mer as it’s rich, restorative, and especially great after a morning workout. I use Clinique’s eye gel to de-puff and brighten my under-
eye area, then finish with sunscreen. Either Supergoop or Beauty of Joseon, depending on whether I’m training indoors or out. My routine is quick but intentional. How does your evening routine differ My evening routine is my little wind-down ritual. I start with a Bioderma makeup remover to gently melt my makeup, followed by a cleanse; sometimes with my La Mer face cleanser if I feel like treating my skin. Then comes my favourite part: double-cleansing with Shu Uemura Tsubaki cleansing oil, which leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. I apply Clinique’s eye gel (tried and true), followed by Decorté repair serum and Decorté advanced repair cream. I really believe in layering hy-
dration at night. It’s all about replenishing what the day has taken away. What are your go-to skincare products? I’m loyal to products that keep my skin calm, radiant, and balanced. Crème de la Mer is my forever moisturiser; it just works. I stick to Clinique’s eye gel for a no-fuss, refreshing lift. Sunscreen is non-negotiable: I rotate between Supergoop, Beauty of Joseon, and Esthederm depending on my mood or the weather. For lips, it’s always Dior Addict Lip Glow: hydrating, flattering, and effortless. Are you a fan of masks? Surprisingly, not really. I feel like when your skin is healthy and happy, you don’t need the extra layers. Less is definitely more for me.
Clockwise from top left:
Crème de la Mer Hydrating Cream 30ml Dhs830 La Mer; The Hydrating Shampoo 227ml Dhs140 Crown Affair; Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum 50ml Dhs770 Byredo; Women Hair + Skin + Nail Supplement Dhs275 Wellbel; Comète Les Exclusifs De Chanel Eau de Parfum 200ml Dhs1,835 Chanel Beauty; Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50 Dhs105 Beauty of Joseon
How would you describe your approach to makeup? Minimal and fresh. I’m all about the no-makeup makeup look, because I believe that your skin is the base of everything. Good sleep, good water and amazing products can make that work.
What can always be found in your makeup bag? Benefit Splash Tint (Fine cloud) for that perfect flushed look, and Dior Addict Lip Glow, it lives there permanently. Which fragrances are your current favourites? Right now I’m in love with Chanel Comete and Byredo Mojave Ghost; two totally different moods but both very me. I tend to shift between fragrances with the seasons, but I always gravitate towards
soft powdery or musky bases. There’s just something about them that feels powerful. Talk us through your hair routine. My hair is such a big part of my identity. It’s my accessory, personality, and energy. I’ve been religious about Wellbel hair vitamins for four years, they seriously transformed my hair. I rotate between shampoos but always include something that cleanses my scalp, especially because I work out so much and I’m a fitness coach. I love Crown Affair’s shampoo and conditioner, AMC’s scalp cleansing shampoo, or the Crown Affair scalp scrub. I use their full styling range –gel, oil, and spray and I just got the new Wellbel shampoo, which I’m so excited
to test. For tools, it’s Dyson all the way! I swear by it to minimise heat damage. What is the most unusual item in your makeup bag? Probably my eyebrow gel – it’s a tiny tube of magic that keeps everything in place and makes me feel put-together in 10 seconds. What’s unusual is I sometimes use it for my baby hair too!
This is The Self-Care Issue – what is your self-care non-negotiable? Listening to my body. I’m so in tune with how I feel. Movement, stillness, hydration, skincare, solitude, sweat. I flow through them depending on what I need. I’m deeply connected to my skin, my rhythm, and I’ve learned to treat myself with care and patience.
WORDS:
THE GAME CHANGER
We discuss changing the game in the fitness industry with Natalie Holloway, founder
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change or not according to your travel schedule? Sleep is incredibly important to me – especially with three little ones – so my mornings vary depending on how the night went. No two mornings look exactly the same, and I’ve learned to embrace that. I try to move my body, even if it’s just ten minutes of stretching or breathwork. Movement really helps me feel grounded and ready for the day. What was the catalyst to founding Bala and how did you know it was the right time? Bala was born out of an idea during a yoga class while traveling to Asia with my husband. We started brainstorming how we could’ve made the class more challenging – and more fun. We saw a white space where workout equipment was either overly masculine or purely functional. We realised the market was saturated with overly serious equipment, but nothing seemed playful or aesthetic. It wasn’t about the “right” time, it was about the right feeling. The idea was drawn on a napkin and the rest is history!
“Taking care of myself helps me be more present – as a mom, a wife, and in my work – so I’ve learned to give myself a lot of grace along the way”
What learnings did you take with you to equip you for this from previous roles, and how much did you learn as you built the brand? I came from a background in advertising, which definitely helped – especially with branding and communication. But honestly, most of the real learning came on the job. Scaling a product-based business is a masterclass in resilience. From navigating manufacturing to understanding community engagement, operations, and logistics – it’s been a hands-on education every single day. How would you differentiate Bala from what else exists and what are the key pillars the brand is built on? Bala is grounded in the idea that movement should be enjoyable and fun! At Bala, we believe beautiful, functional fitness equipment will change the way you move. Because we understand that your life includes exercise but is not exclusively defined by it.
What are the core values of your brand? Creativity, inclusivity, intentionality, and joy. Those values are woven into everything from our product design to our partnerships. We want people to feel uplifted by the brand – like they’re part of something personal and elevated. What was your approach to investment and what would you advise others if they are building a brand themselves? We were very scrappy in the beginning. Shark Tank was a pivotal moment for us – not just in funding, but in visibility. My advice to others: know your numbers, understand your customer deeply, and only bring in partners who align with your vision.
What do you look for in terms of partnerships? We look for partners who share our values – wellness, creativity, and authenticity are big for us. But honestly, the most exciting collaborations are often the
of Bala
unexpected ones. Our partnership with PUCCI is a perfect example –playful, bold, and totally outside the box. We love when a collab brings a little surprise and sparks joy in a way people didn’t see coming. The colourways you use are super aesthetic. How conscious was design as well as functionality in terms of brand positioning? Design has always been at the heart of Bala. We’ve said from the beginning,we’re a design-led fitness brand. We approached our products the way a fashion or interiors brand might, thinking carefully about colour, material, and feel. But it wasn’t perfect from day one – it’s been a lot of trial and error, listening closely to our community, and evolving along the way. Over time, we’ve landed on core colours that really reflect who we are (Sea, Sage, Charcoal, Blush, Sand) and we’re so proud of how they’ve become such a recognisable part of the brand. How do you approach scaling without compromising on quality? We’re very hands-on with our manufacturing partners and have a strong internal team dedicated to quality control. We’d rather grow slowly and maintain integrity than scale fast and lose trust. Quality is non-negotiable for us!
With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve? We try not to get caught up in chasing every trend –instead, we stay grounded by listening to our community. Platforms change, algorithms shift, but what doesn’t change is the importance of showing up with intention and authenticity. We adapt where it makes sense, but we really focus on staying true to our brand rather than doing what’s trendy. How has being LA-based helped or hindered the brand growth? LA has definitely helped. It’s a wellnessforward city with a strong creative pulse. Being here has opened doors to great partnerships, studios, talent, and visibility. That said, we’re conscious of creating a brand that resonates globally –not just in an LA bubble.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Keep working hard. Keep trusting your gut. You are on the right path and it will all pay off in the end to lead you to your dream job and life.
This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? As a mother of three, staying kind to myself means giving myself permission to pause. Movement is a big part of how I reset – but so is rest. Whether it’s a walk, a quick stretch, or just five quiet minutes to myself, I try to carve out little moments to recharge. I’ve learned that disconnecting when I need to is just as important as showing up. Taking care of myself helps me be more present – as a mother, a wife, and in my work – so I’ve learned to give myself a lot of grace along the way.

YOUR FUTURE SELF
Mimi Bouchard, founder of audio app Activations, discusses her book launch, building a business and being your future self
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change or not according to your travel schedule? My mornings are sacred. They’re where I lock into the energy of my Future Self before the world even touches me. Whether I’m home or jet-lagged on the other side of the world, I always play an Activation first thing – it’s an audio experience I created to shift your state fast. I don’t just meditate; I activate. I rewire my focus, my emotions, and my energy to meet the version of me I’m building. Some mornings it’s five minutes, sometimes it’s longer – but the point is consistency. It’s the quickest way to recalibrate. On the app, we have an Activation called “Embody Magnetic Manifestation Energy” –that’s a firm favourite for new app users. What was the catalyst to writing your book and how did you know it was the right time? Honestly, I wrote Activate Your Future Self because I lived it. After building the Activations app and seeing hundreds of thousands of people transform, I realised the deeper story – the science, the method, and the soul – needed to live somewhere tangible. I wanted to create a handbook for the mindset shift behind the success. I’d been doing Future Self work for almost a decade, and I knew it was time to teach others how to not just envision – but embody – the person they’re meant to become.
How your publishers came about is a great story – can you expand on this as your vision came to life? It’s a beautiful fullcircle moment. I had visualised being a published author for years –it was even in one of my original Activations! When Hay House reached out, I had goosebumps. It was aligned on every level. I wasn’t chasing – it came to me, which is a core theme in the book: when you embody your Future Self energetically, you attract the life meant for you. What is the core message of the book and who do you think this will resonate with most right now? The heart of the book is simple but lifechanging: You don’t become successful and then believe in yourself – you believe in yourself first, and that’s what makes you successful. This book is for the high-potential woman who knows she’s meant for more but hasn’t fully stepped into it yet. It’s for the dreamers ready to do. And it’s especially powerful for those craving clarity, confidence, and momentum.
this, but in short: your thoughts and emotions emit a biofield – a measurable electromagnetic frequency. When you consistently embody emotions like joy, confidence, or abundance (even before external results appear), you shift your energetic set point. This literally makes you a magnet for aligned opportunities. That’s why Activations are so powerful – they combine visualisation, music, and affirmations to encode this new frequency into your body.
Activations is audio-based – what are the most popular Activations? Right now, “Lucky Girl Energy Affirmations,” “Manifest $100,000,” and “Be Your Future Self Now” are topping the charts. Each one meets you where you are and raises you into the mindset of who you’re becoming. And with our 14-day free trial, people can explore the whole library and find their favourite frequency.
Activations is at an accessible price–point – was this a key driver from the outset? Absolutely. I built Activations for the woman I used to be – struggling, hustling, unsure. I wanted this to be the most powerful investment she could make in herself – for less than a weekly latte run. Accessibility is empowerment. And transformation should be available, not elite.
“Comparison fades when you’re deeply connected to your purpose”
How do you tap into your Future Self on a daily basis now compared to when you started? In the beginning, I was forcing belief into being – I was repeating affirmations, journaling, trying to override old programming. Now, I feel it in my body. I use Activations to shift into that elevated energy in real-time. Whether I’m walking into a big meeting or just making coffee, I access that frequency of expansion, abundance, and confidence. And when I wobble? I bounce back fast – something I teach in the book through a concept I call the Bounce Back Rate™.
For someone at the beginning of this journey – where should they start when becoming their Future Self? Start with one Activation a day. Let it become your companion. Even if you don’t believe the words at first, your nervous system is listening. From there, get radically clear on what your Future Self actually looks and feels like. Who is she? What does she believe about herself? That’s your blueprint. And remember – you don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. Tiny shifts, stacked daily, create exponential change. Can you define the science bit around how acting as our Future Self aligns us with the vision we have for it? Sure! The book dives deep into
Have you been surprised by how quickly the business has scaled and what has been the biggest driver of this since launch? In some ways, yes. But also – no. I saw it. I felt it before it existed. That’s the magic of this method. The biggest driver? Word of mouth. The shifts are so visceral that people talk about it. The moment someone hears their friend say, “You have to try this thing – it changed my energy instantly,” they’re in. With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve while still maintaining privacy? It’s about alignment over algorithms. I don’t chase virality – I share what’s real. And I protect my energy fiercely. That sometimes means pulling back from sharing when I need to reset. But that’s part of the brand now – realness, not performance.
How has taking a break from social media benefited you and what advice would you give others who have their own business – is it necessary? It changed everything. I came back clearer, stronger, and more intentional. You’re not your content. The world doesn’t fall apart when you rest. In fact, it often falls into place. My advice: detach your worth from your online presence. Your power is in your energy – not your engagement rate. When launching a new project and with social media so prevalent – how do you keep comparison in check and still move forward by silencing the inner critic? Comparison fades when you’re deeply connected to your purpose. I come back to my Future Self – she wouldn’t be scrolling and doubting, she’d be moving and trusting. I use Activations to reset my mind when the noise gets loud. I also set boundaries: limited scroll time, muted accounts, and lots of self-coaching. What’s one thing we should all say daily to be kinder to ourselves?
“You’re doing better than you think.” We’re so quick to measure what’s missing. Try measuring how far you’ve come instead.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Everything you’re dreaming of is real. Keep going. The path isn’t perfect, but your vision is sacred.
This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? Self-care isn’t bubble baths – it’s self–honesty. I let myself feel the hard moments without judgment. I give myself space. And then, I shift back using my tools. An Activation. A walk. A breath. I remind myself: even now, I am becoming her.

UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOURSELF
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change or not according to your travel schedule? I know that I am the most energetic in the morning so prioritising exercise for the morning is important to me. I love Pilates and mix that in with resistance training at the gym a couple of times per week. Any tasks that require my focus and attention uninterrupted also happen in the morning and that includes any writing that I may do. I save the afternoons for inperson sessions, calls, meetings and events in the evenings or time with my daughter. I find that I am much more present in each of these scenarios when I have reset my body and the business in the morning. When travelling I try to stick to a similar routine or look at where time zone changes may lend themselves to best supporting this structure and I love the chance to try out new classes in a city that I haven’t visited yet. I was in Nashville in April and found Tremble, a Lagree-based, reformer-style class that really did have me trembling! What was the catalyst to writing your book and how did you know it was the right time?
I am a big fan of serendipity and had been manifesting the opportunity to share what I see in my therapy room in a book for some time. My passion is ensuring that everyone knows that a life without limitations caused from trauma and shame is absolutely possible. At any age and for anyone. I was approached at the same time by two major publishers and both wanted to bring a book to the world in a style that we hadn’t seen before. Unapologetic is part memoir, part manual, offering a new paradigm shift to look at shame as the root of our suffering and – critically – what we can do about it. What is the core message of Unapologetic and who do you think this will resonate with audiences so well now? Unapologetic does
Annalie Howling is a globally sought-after performance coach, trauma specialist, and now author of Unapologetic: Unshackle Your Shame. Reclaim Your Power. We discuss silencing your inner critic and being kinder to ourselves
not mean being harsh or cruel. It’s quite the opposite. It is about looking at all of the places we dim to fit in, where we shrink and minimise to make others more comfortable, putting their needs above our own. Fundamentally, it is asking us to consider all of the places that we apologise for being ourselves, people please and burnout in a constant pursuit of perfectionism by diminishing & denying our true essence. Unapologetic is a world first. I have given shame a voice. Shame is a felt sense, it is very hard to put into words but we know when we feel our shame. There are a myriad of terrific ‘how to’ books in the self-help genre but none tackle shame in this way. In my view from the countless hours I have spent working with clients on limiting beliefs it is the unshackling of shame that truly holds the keys to our peace and healing.
With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve and how do you allow this medium to serve you rather than hinder your potential? I try to ‘stay in my lane’ with regards to social media. We adapt and try to look for any aesthetic changes an audience may be responsive to but I am resolute in my responsibility to deliver meaningful content, answers & help where I can to people that are in pain. This lives well outside of any ‘trends’. Social media for all of its challenges has made a hugely postive impact on my connections that may have started over a screen but have now become friends ‘IRL’ which I am so grateful for. Being able to travel the world and connect to someone like-minded is a really postive and powerful part of social media and I feel has been the biggest personal postive outcome. When launching a new project and with social media so prevalent – how do you keep comparison in check and still move forward by silencing the inner critic? I won’t lie, Instagram has been brutal of late with various changes
and shifts to the algorithm. However, I listened to a very good podcast a few years ago from James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits. He wisely stated that you ‘never own Instagram.’ Which also goes for a number of other social media platforms. But you can and should focus on making changes in places you can own. Your website, newsletter and books as an example for myself. This helps me keep my inner critic under control when something doesn’t land or get the reach that I had hoped. Lastly, remembering my own ‘why’. Which is to help people out of pain. I know I have written a brilliant book that
“Your voice matters, it helps people, find ways to use it”
I really believe in and creates big shifts for people. My book, in my words, my clients’ stories, the expert interviews – these are all evergreen. This book will stand the test of time far outside of social media trends, which keeps me focused and energised. If we could say one thing daily to be kinder to ourselves, what should it be? Self care is not selfish! A good way of looking at this, which really helped me especially around (single) mum guilt, is this explanation. Being selfish is acting in your own self interest whilst knowingly causing harm / at the detriment to another. Self-care is prioritising our own needs so that we are better able to care for those that we love.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Your voice matters, it helps people, find ways to use it. This is The Self-Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? Having been through a catastrophic burnout when I was approaching my 30th birthday I know when the warning light appears on my dashboard now I am in my mid-forties.
When I feel overwhelmed and anxiety (the inability to access the present moment) has hold of me I approach my self care psychologically and physiologically. I practice what I call ‘stripping the engine’. I look at the absolute essential tasks / things / events that absolutely have to be done and focus on those. Then for everything else I either outsource, ask for help, delete or diarise it for a few days / weeks later. Then I look to my physical foundations. I can control how I move my body, the nutrition that I consume, prioritise sleep, create time for a brief guided meditation and spend time with people that re-energise me. Last but not least I use the most powerful phrase (said with kindness) in my self care armoury, ‘No, thank you,’ to ensure that I am not taking on any more load than I can carry.
A HEALTHY MICROBIOME
The
Acne Nutritionist, Maria
Marlowe on gut health to prep yourself for a summer of natural skin
WORDS: SARAH JOSEPH
Can you talk us through your background and how you became an expert? I struggled with acne for almost five years. Despite trying seemingly all of the conventional acne treatments, including both over the counter and prescription, my acne would just not go away. At first, I was frustrated because I thought there must be something wrong with me, that my skin was not responding to all the popular acne products and medications, but I was eventually introduced to the concept of food as medicine, and realised it was my diet and poor gut health that was fueling my acne. I drastically overhauled my diet, and my skin cleared up in about three months. I was so blown away by my own transformation, that I decided to change career paths to study nutrition and did additional courses in integrative dermatology on top of that, so that I could really focus on nutrition for skin health. I became the first Certified Nutritionist to specialise in acne, earning me the nickname of The Acne Nutritionist.
What are the key factors in keeping gut health in check, especially when travelling? Travel can throw off our routines and disrupt the gut microbiome, but with a little preparation, you can stay on track. I always recommend packing a high-quality probiotic, like Glow Biome, to support digestion and regularity – especially when your meals may be less than ideal. Constipation on the road can quickly lead to bloating, gas, and even breakouts. Staying well-hydrated is key, particularly during flights, so don’t forget to pack an electrolyte pack, and stir it into your water pre-flight. You’ll also want to focus on getting fibre-rich foods daily to help keep things moving. One of my favourite things to do when travelling is to stop by a local farmers market (or health food store) and pick up fresh fruit. When dining out, stick to whole, minimally processed meals – think grilled veggies, hearty soups + salads, and
grilled proteins. As much as possible, steer clear of excess sugar and inflammatory seed oils, which can irritate the gut, but don’t stress if you do have them. Honestly, I think the stress can be worse for our health than the food.
You’ve mentioned the benefits of intermittent fasting, how does this support gut health? Intermittent fasting gives your digestive system the rest it often doesn’t get, allowing time for repair, rebalancing, and restoration. This break can help enhance microbiome diversity, reduce inflammation, and support the
integrity of the gut lining. It may also improve insulin sensitivity and help stabilise blood sugar – both key for overall health and clearer skin. That said, intermittent fasting isn’t one-size-fits-all. Those with hormonal imbalances, chronic stress, a history of disordered eating, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid fasting and focus instead on balanced, consistent nourishment.
How do mental and emotional health intersect with physical wellness? The gutbrain-skin connection is real – your mental and emotional state directly impacts your digestion and skin. Summer often brings travel, social events, and changes in routine, which can throw off our sleep, eating habits, and self-care practices. That’s why grounding rituals like morning sunlight, mindful meals, and even five-minute meditations are so important. When we nourish our emotional well-being, our gut and skin respond positively.
What dietary adjustments can optimise energy levels and support a healthy body? Summer is the perfect time to lean into hydrating, high-water-content foods like cucumbers, berries, watermelon, and leafy greens. Not only are they refreshing on a hot day, but they also support skin hydration, healthy digestion, and natural elimination pathways – essential for radiant skin and sustained energy. I recommend focusing on nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory meals: think grilled wild-caught fish with seasonal veggies, a big vibrant salad with your favourite protein, or a fruit + protein smoothie with a mix of plant protein, and grass fed collagen. Cut back on high-glycemic foods like baked goods, candy, and refined cereals to support balanced blood sugar, which helps maintain energy levels and is crucial for weight management and a clear complexion.
You’ve shared your personal health journey. How did addressing gut health specifically contribute to your overall wellness transformation? Addressing gut health was the catalyst for my entire transformation. Once I focused on healing my gut – with anti-inflammatory foods, targeted probiotics, and removing trigger foods – my acne cleared, my energy soared, and the extra weight naturally melted off. Gut health isn’t just about digestion; it’s the foundation for clear skin, mental clarity, hormone balance, and overall vitality. A healthy, well-functioning gut allows us to absorb nutrients more efficiently, regulate inflammation, and support the body’s natural detoxification pathways. When your gut is in balance, everything else – from your mood to your metabolism – begins to align. What final piece of advice would you offer to those looking to embrace a healthier lifestyle while enjoying the pleasures of life? A healthier lifestyle isn’t about restriction – it’s about upgrades. Whatever you’re craving – chips, cookies, chocolate – there’s almost always a better for you version made with nourishing ingredients. Start with small swaps: try a sweet treat made with dates instead of refined sugar, or opt for snacks cooked in avocado or olive oil instead of inflammatory vegetable oils. Most importantly, focus on what you’re adding in: vibrant, whole foods that make you feel energised and satisfied, not just in the moment but hours later. Over time, your taste buds and cravings will naturally shift toward the nourishing stuff. That said, life is meant to be enjoyed. A truly healthy lifestyle should feel pleasurable, not punishing. What you do most of the time matters far more than what you do occasionally. So give yourself permission to enjoy the 10–20% guilt-free, knowing the 80–90% is building the foundation for your wellness. And remember: how you feel about your choices matters too – a calm, joyful mindset is just as important for your health as the food on your plate. How can we select the right supplements to support gut health, and what role do they play in digestion and immunity? With so many probiotic supplements on the market, it can be
tough to know which one to trust. I always recommend looking for a high-quality formula that includes a diverse range of clinically studied strains – you’ll recognise them by the letters or numbers at the end of the strain name, like L. acidophilus La-14. It’s also important to choose a product that guarantees its CFU (colony-forming unit) count through the end of shelf life, not just at the time of manufacturing. And ideally, it should include prebiotics to help nourish those beneficial bacteria. Another green flag? Brands that have gone the extra mile to clinically test their products. Fewer than 1% of supplement companies run clinical trials – so if they do, it’s a strong sign they stand behind the efficacy of their formula. Probiotics support far more than just digestion – they’re foundational for immune health, mood regulation, skin clarity, and even hormonal balance. You may want to select a formula tailored to your specific goals, whether that’s improved regularity, better skin, or enhanced immune resilience. That’s exactly why I created Glow Biome – a next-gen, clinically tested synbiotic that blends probiotics and prebiotics to support both gut and skin health. I like to say it helps tackle both bloat and breakouts, by promoting healthy digestion, regularity, and clearer, more balanced, and hydrated skin.
This is The Self-Care Issue – what is your non-negotiable when it comes to your self-care routine? My number one non-negotiable is starting the day with a nutrient-dense, nourishing breakfast – something like a veggie-packed omelette with gluten-free avocado toast or my go-to Blemish Blast Smoothie. A well-balanced breakfast sets the tone for everything that follows. It fuels your energy, stabilises blood sugar, and helps prevent cravings, mood swings, and that late-afternoon crash. I also prioritise movement – walking at least 30 minutes a day, ideally 60. I usually take a 30-minute walk after breakfast to get sunlight and support digestion, and another before dinner to wind down and reset. To me, self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate. It’s about small, consistent rituals that help you feel grounded, energised, and glowing from the inside out.

HEAL FOR REAL
We discuss nutrition, scaling a business and not cutting corners with founder of Nourishing, Jeffery Zorn
What pillars is Nourishing built on? Nourishing was built on the belief that food is medicine. Our core pillars are nutrient density, ingredient integrity, and deep personalisation. We focus on ancestral nutrition – prioritising meats, organ cuts, wild seafood, and seasonal produce – while being 100% free from gluten, dairy, and industrial seed oils. We don’t follow trends. We follow truth.
The depth of knowledge you have in nutrition is vast. How has your business adapted as your knowledge has grown since Nourishing was founded in 2014? In 2014, we were considered radical for removing gluten and dairy – back then, few even knew what seed oils were. Now, it’s almost mainstream. What’s evolved is how targeted we’ve become – refining our protocols to support autoimmune conditions, metabolic health, and fertility. As the science deepens, so does our menu. We’ve gone from simply removing inflammatory foods to actively using ingredients that help the body repair, regenerate, and thrive.
Are all meals gluten & dairy and industrial seed oil free nutritional powerhouses? Yes – without exception. Every meal is built from scratch with anti-inflammatory fats, grass-fed meats, and produce chosen for function as well as flavour. There are no synthetic fillers, preservatives, or shortcuts. We serve meals that foster clarity, energy, and recovery. They’re delicious, but more importantly, they support long-term wellbeing. What challenges have you faced to date? Educating the market. For years, people associated “healthy” with low-calorie or plant-based. We had to reframe that narrative – showing that healing requires nourishment, not deprivation. Operationally, scaling without compromising quality has been our biggest hurdle. But we’d rather grow slowly with integrity than quickly with compromise.
routine to your identity, not your weight. Say: “I’m someone who prioritises health” rather than “I’m on a diet.” That mental shift makes consistency automatic.
How important is diversity to clients when it comes to meal plans, and do you see this differ across genders? It’s very important. Our female clients often crave variety and flavour – while men tend to focus on performance and portion size. We design for both: rotating menus, textures, and options like meat and nuts breakfasts or hormone-friendly meals for women. Variety prevents boredom and supports goals – be it muscle gain, reducing excess fat, promoting fertility, or autoimmune support.
Can you give us an example of some hero dishes that are popular on Nourishing and how do you cater to those with a sweet tooth? Our gluten and dairy free paleo lasagna is a client favourite – flavourful, satisfying, and low-inflammatory. For the sweet tooth, we focus on gradual lifestyle changes that retrain the palate – reducing sugar cravings and helping clients rediscover the natural sweetness in real food. We offer a line of meatless breakfasts that includes lemon zest crêpes, pumpkin spiced waffles and a variety of smoothie bowls. They feel indulgent but are blood-sugar friendly and loaded with real ingredients.
What is your advice on nutrition when travelling? I’ve found you never need to compromise on exciting food while travelling – and that’s one of the reasons I love it. Prioritise protein and good fats, and don’t fall into the trap of “vacation eating” if it doesn’t serve you. I always scout restaurants with simple, real food and get recommendations from locals. On my last trip to London, the cheesemonger at Borough Market shared some phenomenal, under-the-radar restaurant tips. How do you see Nourishing expanding? We’re building a tech-enabled ecosystem that brings healing food to more people across the GCC. Beyond the UAE, we’re preparing to enter Saudi Arabia. The vision is to make optimal nourishment the norm, not the exception – whether at home, work, or travelling.
“That one act – cutting out gluten, seed oils, sugar, and artificial ingredients – will unlock clarity, energy, and a stable mood”
If you could give one piece of advice to those wanting to overhaul their nutrition and diet, what would it be? Remove processed foods. That one act – cutting out gluten, seed oils, sugar, and artificial ingredients – will unlock clarity, energy, and a stable mood. From there, add in high quality meats, bone broth, and seasonal produce. Simplicity works. Your body knows how to heal when you stop interrupting it.
People sometimes look for quick fixes – what would be your suggestion to those wanting to change habits when their hit their goal, so they do not slip back? Build systems, not motivation. Once the goal is hit, the excitement fades – but habits remain. Anchor your
Your ingredients and meats come from optimal sources – how challenging is it to balance building a scalable business while delivering the best quality and do you find this is a very different practice to other subscription models? We built the business backwards: first, define what optimal looks like – then scale with that as the nonnegotiable. Most companies do the reverse: scale fast, then figure out quality later. That’s why we source from the same farms year after year, make everything in-house, and only serve what we’d feed our own families. It’s slower – but far more sustainable.

THE ART OF SCALE
FLOWERBX founder and CEO
Whitney Bromberg Hawkings discusses scaling without compromising on quality and making elevated floristry accessible
How does your morning routine set you up for optimal success and how does this change or not according to your travel schedule? I am very disciplined with my morning routine, and it becomes even more indispensable when I am travelling. I always start my day with a litre of warm water with apple cider vinegar – it seems to be working well for Victoria Beckham, so why not? I eat Greek yoghurt with flax and hemp seeds and seasonal berries, and I always, always exercise. That’s non-negotiable. If it’s an early start, I get up even earlier. Exercise and sleep are fundamental for my physical and mental health. I mean, being a founder is an endurance sport. What was the catalyst to launching FLOWERBX and how did you know it was the right time? My move from fashion to flowers was really fuelled by my frustration at not having a floral solution for my many floral needs –whether it was flowers for a dinner party at home, flowers for gifting, or florals for corporate events, I was consistently disappointed by what was available on the market, so I set out to create the first global flower brand, which guaranteed the same quality, consistency and curation with every single delivery.
As for the timing, my boss of 20 years, Tom Ford, always used to say that it’s important to have a 10-year plan. My twenties were all about climbing the career ladder, and I worked day and night for Tom, both at Gucci and Tom Ford. I knew I wanted children in my 30s, so family was the overarching focus
creating desire around a product and its storytelling, and I have applied all of these learnings to FLOWERBX. How would you differentiate FLOWERBX from what else exists in the market and what are the key pillars the brand is built on? After 19 years in the high-end fashion industry, I was constantly asking the florists to send single stem bunches and would incessantly repeat – no filler, no mixed bunches, no baby’s breath, just SINGLE STEM BUNCHES. In the fashion world, flowers are currency, and sending the “right” flowers is seen as an extension of the brand’s image. Especially with the emergence of Instagram and social media, the bunch of flowers that you send WILL get seen by potentially thousands and WILL be a reflection of you and your brand. I noticed that everyone who was sending flowers to the office, from Karl and Anna to Calvin and Miuccia, were sending single stem bunches – and the seeds of FLOWERBX were planted. For me, single-stem bunches are the most beautiful way to consume flowers, and, if offering only the freshest flowers, this makes it impossible to go wrong when buying for yourself or for someone else. It always has been – and always will be – central to our aesthetic, and something that sets us apart in the market.
What are the core values of FLOWERBX? Sustainability, quality, beauty and ease.
What was your approach to investment and what would you advise others if they are building a brand themselves? I raised money early on in the journey as a founder, as the opportunity to scale was apparent, and Natalie Massenet, Carmen Busquets and Mark Sebba, of legendary Net-A-Porter fame, came on as my first angels. I have since raised money from angels and institutional investors; but, like all founders, have found it much more difficult to raise money in the current climate so have pivoted to prioritise profitability over growth. My advice to other founders is to grow as much as you can without investment and give away as little equity as you need to, as it can be demotivating to be heavily diluted in the company that you founded.
What do you look for in terms of partnerships? Brand alignment is the most important part of a partnership, and I say no to probably nine out of ten brands that want to partner as they must share the same values, the same obsession with beauty and quality, and the same aesthetic. I see FLOWERBX as an industry leader in florals, so I seek to partner with other industry leaders in different categories. It is also imperative to me that the partnership is reciprocal and holistic, as that’s when the real magic happens.
of that decade, along with my career. Then, as I approached 40, I had this idea centred on creating the first global premium flower brand, I was pregnant with my third child and it was a “now or never” moment, so I took the leap and have never looked back. You worked for many years in the luxury industry, how did this equip you best to launch your own business? What I saw as the real opportunity when I started FLOWERBX was to create an international flower brand, with the consistency of product, quality and image that have become synonymous with luxury fashion but never before applied to the floral industry. I couldn’t have learned from a better teacher or in a better school how to build a successful, recognisable and powerful brand, but also about the art of
As you’ve scaled, what has been the biggest challeng to date and how did you overcome this? International expansion has been a huge challenge given the complexities of Brexit, Covid, and now tariffs - it has felt quite never-ending for the past five years. That’s not mentioning the war, soaring energy costs, inflation and threat of economic crisis, which makes capital more scarce and means investors are more risk averse. That said, we have been able to make a meaningful business in the US to prove that the ethos, brand, execution and values resonate with a discerning international customer who loves quality above all else, and we are excited to bring our unique approach to florals to Dubai!
How do you approach scaling without compromising on quality? Quality is paramount in every single thing that we do and is ingrained in our culture and in every member of the team, from our customer care team to our florists and our delivery drivers. Beauty and quality is at the core of all that we do at FLOWERBX, and we will never compromise on quality, even if that means growing more slowly than I would like at times. With social media constantly changing, how do you stay ahead of the curve? Flowers naturally lend themselves to being photographed, like babies and puppies, as who doesn’t love flowers? So luckily, I work in a
very photogenic medium, and I think it’s important to continue to tell new stories with flowers, both with brands, artists, hotels, and installations – like with art and poetry, there are endless stories to tell with flowers. You’re launching in the Middle East – why was this market important for you as a next step? The Middle East is the most exciting market in the world right now for luxury, hospitality, and business, and the energy in the region is palpable. A lot of our existing clients are creating a more meaningful presences in Dubai right now, and we are thrilled to be there to partner with them. If you could give one piece of advice to your
younger self, what would it be? You are more special than you think you are. I had so much self-doubt as a young lady and was so consumed with how much smarter, prettier, and better everyone around me was. I hope to instil a great sense of confidence and self-worth in my daughter from a young age so that she grows up knowing how totally fierce she is. This is The Self- Care Issue – how do you stay kind to yourself during challenging times? I am so lucky to have my amazing husband and children who help me reset and reboot during challenging times. They are my refuge in difficult times and my vital driving force for all that I do.

AARA FLOWERS
Manisha Raney, the woman behind Aara Floral Luxury shares her story of building a brand with soul
What do the first 30 minutes of your day look like, your morning routine? The first 30 minutes of my day are all about setting the mood - for the flowers, the space, and myself. I open up the boutique just as the city is starting to stir, and there’s something so special about that early quiet. I check the stock of fresh blooms and start arranging the display so it draws people in – it’s a small space, but I want it to feel warm and welcoming. I sip my coffee and go over the day’s orders - any special arrangements, events, or deliveries. Honestly, it’s my favorite part of the day – it’s calm and meaningful. What inspired you to start Aara Floral Luxury, and what does the name “Aara” mean to you personally? Flowers have always spoken to me in a way words sometimes can’t – they lift moods and soften moments. Starting my own flower boutique felt like the most natural extension of who I am. Whether it’s a quick bouquet on the way home or something custom for a big occasion, I get to be a small part of people’s stories. That’s what inspired me – the chance to create small moments of joy, one bloom at a time. The name Aara is actually a combination of my children’s names, so from the very beginning, the boutique has been rooted in love, family, and meaning. What truly sealed it for me, though, was discovering that Aara also means “light” and “adornment” in different cultures. It felt perfect – because that’s exactly what flowers do: they brighten spaces, lift spirits, and mark the moments that matter. Starting this boutique wasn’t just about florals – it was about creating something meaningful, inspired by the people I love most. Aara is a reflection of my family, my passion, and the joy I hope to share through every bouquet. Can you take us back to the moment the idea for Aara first came to you, what sparked it? It was a mix of passion and timing, really. I’ve always felt drawn to flowers – their beauty, their symbolism, the way they can completely shift someone’s day. But what truly sparked the idea was realising how much joy I felt in creating small, thoughtful arrangements for friends and family. It wasn’t just about the flowers – it was about the feeling behind them.
What makes Aara Floral Luxury different from other floral concepts in the region? What makes my boutique different is the heart behind it. Aara takes a deeply personal approach to floral design. From the carefully curated blooms to the thoughtful finishing touches, everything is crafted with heart, elegance, and soul. I’m personally involved in selecting the flowers, choosing the right color palette, and designing each bouquet and arrangement. We focus on intentional florals - less about trends, more about connection. Whether it’s a spontaneous gift or a grand celebration, I want people to truly feel something when they receive our flowers. It’s personal, soulful, and curated with care – that’s what sets us apart. Where do you usually draw inspiration from when curating your floral arrangements? I draw inspiration from many places, but nature is always my starting point. The changing seasons, the textures of leaves, even the way light filters through petals – those small, natural details guide my colour choices and composition. Emotion plays a huge role too; I often think about what I want the arrangement to feel like – whether it’s calming, romantic, or bold – and build from there. Each piece becomes a kind of visual story, rooted in both intuition and inspiration. What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while launching Aara, and how did you overcome them? One of the greatest challenges I faced while launching my brand was striking a balance between creative expression and the realities of running a business. I knew how to work with flowers and create meaningful arrangements, but building a brand meant stepping into roles I wasn’t initially comfortable with - marketing, pricing, sourcing, logistics. At times, it was overwhelming, but I embraced it as part of the creative journey. I spent time refining my voice, understanding my audience, and trusting my instincts. Another challenge was carving out a unique identity in a space filled with incredible talent. I overcame that by staying true to my aesthetic and focusing on storytelling – letting each arrangement carry emotion, texture, and intention.
“Aara isn’t just a business; it’s a reflection of the strength and love my family has always given me”
What flowers would you suggest as a gift to uplift any home? To uplift any home, I love suggesting flowers that feel fresh, vibrant, and full of life. You can never go wrong with sunflowers – they instantly brighten a room with their bold, happy energy. Peonies are another favourite; their soft, full blooms bring a sense of romance and elegance. For something timeless, white lilies or hydrangeas offer a fresh, calming beauty.
How did your background or personal experiences shape the creative vision behind the boutique? My family has always been my strongest support system, and their encouragement was key to the vision behind Aara. Through their love and support, I was able to build something that feels deeply personal. The values they instilled in me –hard work, resilience, and the importance of family – have shaped how I approach this business. Aara isn’t just a business; it’s a reflection of the strength and love my family has always given me. It’s a reminder that with the right support system, anything is possible.
What have been some of your proudest milestones since launching Aara? Since launching Aara, every small step has felt like a big, meaningful milestone. Seeing our very first customer walk away smiling with a bouquet was unforgettable. One of my biggest milestones has been building a community of loyal customers who connect with the heart behind Aara. Every positive message, every returning client, every recommendation – it all reminds me why I started. What’s next for Aara Floral Luxury? Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing Aara with the same heart and creativity it began with. I plan to introduce seasonal collections, host flower arranging workshops, and collaborate with other local businesses to create unique experiences for our community. I also hope to expand into a second location and enhance our online presence, so more people can experience the beauty and spirit of Aara – wherever they are. This is The Self-Care Issue; what does self-care look like for you on a daily or weekly basis? To me, self-care means giving yourself permission to slow down and reconnect – with your mind, your body, and your heart. It’s about listening to what you need in the moment – whether that’s rest, creativity, or movement. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a walk, spending time with my family, arranging flowers just for myself, or setting boundaries to protect my energy. Self-care is really about balance, kindness, and being present.

How long have you been in this space? Fifteen years ago, we bought our home, envisioning a space that would one day reflect our family's needs. Five years later, we moved to a lively compound to provide a safe, social environment for our children. However, as they grew into teenagers, we realised the importance of having our own space again, prompting us to put our mark on our home. Have you custom-built any bespoke pieces? When we returned, we completely renovated the house. It was gutted, extended, and rebuilt to suit our style. Every element is custom-made, from the wooden stairs and stone tiles to the kitchen and sofas. Each piece reflects our family’s personality and needs.
How do you think your home interior reflects you? For me, being close to nature is essential. I need plants and green landscapes around me, and living near the sea is fundamental to my peace of mind. Creating a tranquil environment was a priority, so I designed an open space that blends indoor and outdoor living. This area allows me to relax and connect with family and friends. Describe your taste in three words. Nature-Inspired, Tranquil, Bespoke. These words best describe my approach to home design – grounded in the natural world, focused on peace, and tailored to our unique lifestyle. In this space, we continue to build memories and enjoy life together as a family.
THE ART OF BEING STILLNESS A ND

Dr. Jan Stritzke, Medical Director at Lanserhof Sylt, and Eva-Maria Hasenauer, Chief Commercial Officer at Lanserhof Group, on how Lanserhof remains an unmatched wellness destination with a unique approach to self-care and well-being
Lanserhof is synonymous with transformative healing. How does Lanserhof Sylt respond to the wellness needs of the modern woman?
JS: Lanserhof Sylt is uniquely attuned to the evolving needs of the modern woman – a woman who is navigating the complex demands of career, family, ageing, and self-development, often all at once. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, Lanserhof Sylt delivers deeply personalised programmes that address physical, hormonal, emotional, and mental well-being in a holistic yet clinically grounded way. From advanced diagnostics and metabolic support to hormone balancing, detoxification, and stress recovery, every aspect of care is tailored to support long-term vitality and inner resilience. There is particular emphasis on life phases that are often overlooked – including perimenopause, burnout, and postnatal recovery – with treatments designed to empower women to feel in control of their bodies, energy, and clarity.
Set against the serene backdrop of the North Sea, Lanserhof Sylt offers more than
just a retreat – it creates space for women to pause, recalibrate, and reconnect with themselves. It’s where transformation feels not only possible, but sustainable – grounded in science, delivered with empathy, and tailored to the rhythm of modern life.
From hormonal balance to stress recovery, how are your programmes curated to meet the unique needs of female guests at every life stage, and how are these treatments tailored with a woman’s body in mind? JS: At Lanserhof, we recognise that a woman’s health journey is dynamic – shaped by hormonal shifts, life transitions, and evolving demands on both body and mind. That’s why our programmes are not only deeply personalised, but also designed with a deep understanding of female physiology and psychology at every life stage. From menstruation to menopause and beyond, we offer comprehensive diagnostics to assess hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, stress load, and metabolic health. Treatments are then precisely tailored – whether that means bioidentical
hormone support, lymphatic therapies, gut healing, or nervous system regulation – always taking into account the interconnectedness of the female body. Stress recovery is another key focus. Many of our female guests arrive in a state of chronic fatigue or emotional burnout, often the result of balancing professional ambition with caregiving roles. We address this with restorative therapies such as sleep medicine, stress modulation techniques, gentle detoxification, and mindbody integration practices. Each programme is crafted not just to heal, but to empower. Our female guests leave with greater selfawareness, better hormonal harmony, and a renewed sense of agency over their well-being – all supported by the science, safety, and serenity that define the Lanserhof approach. Tell us more about the signature therapies or diagnostics at Lanserhof Sylt that have resonated most with your female clientele. JS: At Lanserhof Sylt, several signature therapies and diagnostics have proven particularly impactful for our female guests – not only
for their clinical efficacy but for the way they help women reconnect with their bodies and restore balance in a meaningful, lasting way.
Many female guests appreciate our wellfounded hormonal diagnostics, which go far beyond what is often offered in regular care. The analysis of the endocrine system provides precise insights, particularly in phases such as menopause or in cases of unexplained exhaustion. Based on this, we create individualised treatment plans – for example, with micronutrients, plant substances, or, if indicated, bioidentical hormones.
Colon hydrotherapy and detoxification are also popular, particularly among women seeking to reset their gut health and reduce systemic inflammation. Paired with nutrition consultations and fasting protocols, these therapies support metabolic clarity, hormonal regulation, and improved energy levels.
Comprehensive diagnostics for chronic fatigue and stress symptoms are also popular. Here we measure parameters such as cortisol levels, heart rate variability, and inflammation markers. Combined with mental coaching, breath work, and targeted regeneration (e.g. through massages, baths, sleep optimisation), this helps women with high stress levels in particular to regain their strength.
“Our approach is to create a sanctuary where the pace naturally slows, allowing the nervous system to reset and the mind to find clarity”
How does Lanserhof Sylt reimagine the concept of self-care? JS: Lanserhof Sylt redefines self-care as an intentional, sciencedriven, and holistic practice, far beyond the traditional notions of occasional pampering or surface-level relaxation. Here, self-care is a transformative journey that integrates advanced medical diagnostics, personalised therapies, and lifestyle coaching to promote lasting health and vitality.
The focus shifts from reactive treatment to proactive optimisation. Self-care becomes a daily commitment to nurturing the body, mind, and spirit, grounded in evidence-based protocols designed to enhance resilience, balance hormones, detoxify the system, and reduce stress.
In a world where silence and stillness are considered luxuries, how does Lanserhof encourage women to embrace the power of slowing
down? JS: Lanserhof invites women to rediscover the profound healing that comes from silence and stillness – precious commodities often lost in the noise of modern life. Our approach is to create a sanctuary where the pace naturally slows, allowing the nervous system to reset and the mind to find clarity. Through carefully curated experiences – ranging from guided meditation and breathwork to nature immersion along the tranquil shores of Sylt –women are gently encouraged to release tension and cultivate presence. This intentional slowing down fosters deep reflection and emotional restoration, creating space for insights that busy lives rarely allow. We believe that embracing stillness is not a passive act but an empowering one. It reconnects women to their inner wisdom and resilience, equipping them to face the demands of daily life with renewed calm and strength.
Many women today are seeking both science-backed solutions and soulful practices. How does Lanserhof Sylt strike a balance between the two? JS: On the one hand, our overall medical concept is based on evidence-based diagnostics, modern laboratory medicine, and individualised treatment plans. Hormone analyses, microbiome tests, and cardiometabolic measurements create a clear, objective basis for health work. On the other hand, we consciously create space for physical-emotional experience: through mindfulness practice, breathing therapy, bodywork, or rituals of deceleration. These emotional elements are not an accessory, but an integral part of healing, especially for women, whose health challenges often arise from complex interactions between body, psyche, and the reality of life.
Can you speak to the emotional shifts guests often experience – how does transformation unfold internally, not just physically? JS: Many of our female guests report that the inner transformation is often more profound than the external, physical changes. What initially begins as a health break becomes a moment of honest self-encounter for many. Reduction – whether through digital detox, a clear daily structure, or targeted retreats – creates space for introspection. Emotions that are covered up or suppressed in everyday life come to the fore. Many women experience not only relaxation, but also clarification: What is really bothering me? What needs to change? What do I want to take responsibility for? Through therapeutic conversations, bodywork, but also through simple rest, a new access to one’s
own inner self is created. This often leads to more self-compassion, clarity and a stronger sense of autonomy. The transformation is therefore not only physically noticeable – it also manifests itself in a new, more conscious way of dealing with oneself. Beyond treatments, what would a woman leave with after her time at Lanserhof? JS: It is often a change of perspective: away from reactive functioning towards a more mindful, self-determined approach to body and mind. Routines such as eating more consciously, better sleep hygiene, and small daily rituals of slowing down or trusting your intuition often have a long-lasting effect. Lanserhof London offers a distinctly urban approach to wellness. How does the experience differ from the retreat-style reset guests receive at Sylt? EMH: In contrast to Lan-
