The latest edition of Macallan Masters of Photography series whisky features one of Hollywood’s most renowned photographers – as well as a classic peaty finish He’s photographed Kate Moss and Rihanna, shot a music video for Kanye, collaborated with Madonna, and shot ads for Lady Gaga; and now Steven Klein has lent his expertise to the Macallan Masters of Photography franchise. A 700ml bottle comes in a presentation box, featuring a Klein panorama taken from the short film he created for the franchise. Klein chose to explore the concept of time for the project, shooting a 30-second film entitled Time Captured. Fashion designer, singer and socialite Daphne Guinness was chosen as his muse for the shoot, and plays a starring role in a film that employs his typical disruptive style. Klein believed the concept of time was also an important ingredient for Macallan, and of course, each of the characters in the short film is sipping on Macallan too. It’s the first time that moving images have been used in the Masters of Photography franchise. This bottle doesn’t only represent a first in style, however, the price is pretty special, too. Previous limited edition bottles in the Masters of Photography franchise sold for US$3,500, but Macallan is appealing to a different consumer this time around. You can pick up a bottle of Rare Cask Black Steven Klein Edition in Dubai Duty Free for US$495. Finally, you’ll also get a specially created ice ball maker, designed in collaboration with US-based ice experts WinterSmiths. This allows the Macallan drinker to create the original crystal-clear ice spheres, distinctive of a Macallan serve, at home. It’s a one-of-a-kind product, and won’t be available outside of the set. Most notable for its distinctive smoky flavour, Macallan Rare Cask Black has notes of dried fruits, nutmeg, ginger, dates, figs, raisins and polished oak, and a long, fruity finish, but it’s the thread of peat smoke on the nose sets it apart.
