Stories of Perseverance #11

A New Beginning : Welcome to RISE

There’s something so special about new beginnings. They ask us to pause, reflect, and remember why we started in the first place. As I sit here today, watching RISE Magazine come to life, our rebrand from Stories of Perseverance my heart is full.

When we first started this magazine, we never imagined the way it would grow or how deeply it would touch people’s hearts. What began as a simple dream to share stories of strength and hope has turned into something far greater a movement rooted in community, inclusion and connection. We’ve evolved, just like the people we feature, and this rebrand to RISE feels like the most natural next chapter.

RISE stands for Resilience,

Inspiration, Success, and Empowerment four words that hold the heartbeat of everything we believe in. It’s a magazine, yes, but it’s also a reminder. A reminder that no matter what we face, we can always rise. That faith and perseverance go hand in hand. That kindness and community are what hold us together.

The Meaning of RISE

When I look at the word RISE, I think of all the people I’ve met who embody it. The single mother working two jobs but still finding time to tuck her kids in at night. The local business owner who started with nothing but a dream and now gives back to others. The young girl who was told she’d never make it and did.

That’s what RISE represents. Not perfection, not privilege but real people. Real people who keep going, who hold onto faith when it’s hard, and who lift others as they climb.

For me, this rebrand isn’t about changing who we are. It’s about stepping more fully into what we’ve always been. Stories of Perseverance will always be a part of our roots the foundation that taught us how powerful sharing our experiences and knowledge can be. But RISE is about expansion. It’s about growth, hope, and lighting up every corner of our city with purpose.

December has always been my favorite month. Christmas has my heart. Maybe it’s because it feels like a deep breath before the new

year, or maybe it’s because it carries the spirit of giving and grace. As a Christian, it’s also the month that reminds me why I do everything I do to serve with love and to honor the light that God placed within each of us.

This season represents the birth of hope. It’s about the power of faith, the beauty of forgiveness, and the warmth of love that binds families and communities together. For me, that’s what RISE embodies not just the success stories or the glamorous photos, but the heart and people behind it all.

Every feature in this magazine is chosen with intention. In a time when it’s easy to feel disconnected or divided, we want RISE to be a space that feels like home. A reminder that you’re not alone. That goodness still wins. That there are people in Las Vegas right here in our neighborhoods doing incredible things quietly, humbly, and wholeheartedly.

Our Heart for the Community

Las Vegas has a heartbeat unlike anywhere else. It’s a city built on energy, creativity, and resilience. Behind the bright lights are people with stories that deserve to be told stories of rebuilding and reinventing. That’s what our team loves most about this work.

We’ve met so many individuals and organizations that pour love into this community from nonprofits serving families in need to small business owners who see their customers as family to large corporations with inclusive programs and non profits they are loyal to. These are the stories that RISE exists to amplify. We don’t just cover the wins; we honor the work behind them.

Our goal is to shine a light on

people who reflect what our company believes in caring for one another, leading with heart, and building legacies that lift others. Because when one of us rises, we all do.

Community is the soul of this magazine. Every article, event, and partnership is built on connection. We believe that media should heal, not divide. It should inspire, not overwhelm. RISE is our way of giving back a love letter to the people who remind us that kindness is still powerful and dreams are still worth chasing.

From Perseverance to Purpose

Looking back, Stories of Perseverance was the beginning of something beautiful. It gave us a foundation built on courage and compassion. Through it, we learned that everyone has a story worth sharing and that by listening, we help others feel seen.

But as we grew, we felt a calling to take it further. To not only tell stories of perseverance, but to show people what’s possible after it. To highlight the becoming, not just the surviving. RISE is that evolution. It’s about turning pain into power, lessons into leadership, and dreams into reality.

This rebrand is also personal for me. It reflects my own growth as a woman, a mother, a believer, and an entrepreneur. I’ve seen what faith can do. I’ve witnessed the miracles that happen when you keep showing up, even when the world feels heavy. And I’ve learned that the most powerful thing you can do is stay true to your heart.

Gratitude and Vision

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s been part of this journey. Our readers, writers,

photographers, partners, and the incredible individuals who share their stories with us you are the reason RISE exists.

To our team, thank you for believing in this vision. For bringing your creativity, your heart, and your energy to every issue. You’ve helped turn an idea into something that’s changing lives, and we couldn’t be more proud.

As we move into this new chapter, my hope is that RISE becomes more than a magazine. We want it to be a movement. A daily reminder that no matter where you are in your journey, you have the strength to keep going. That your story has value. That your faith matters, you’re not alone and you can do incredible things.

We’ll continue to spotlight those who inspire, those who serve, and those who rise with grace and grit. Because together, we’re building a platform that celebrates humanity at its best where resilience is honored, inspiration is shared, success is defined by purpose, and empowerment is magnetic.

A Final Thought

As we enter this holiday season, I hope RISE reminds you to slow down and reflect. To look at how far you’ve come. To celebrate the people who have stood by you. To remember that every setback you faced was preparing you for something greater.

This magazine is our love letter to this city to the dreamers, the doers, the believers. To those who refuse to give up, and to those still finding their way. May every page remind you that light will always outshine darkness, and that your story yes, yours has the power to change lives.

Here’s to faith. Here’s to new beginnings. And here’s to rising, together.

Holiday Magic: Creative Gifts, Joyful Moments, and Sensory-Smart Celebrations

The holiday season sparkles with lights, laughter, and love, but for some families, it can also bring unique considerations. Overstimulation from crowds, noise, and bright decorations might turn festive cheer into overwhelming moments for children with extra sensitivities. Yet, with a bit of creativity and planning, holidays can be a time of pure joy, tailored to every child’s comfort. This special edition article is dedicated to parents and kids alike, offering ideas for thoughtful gifts, heartwarming activities, and strategies to keep things calm and magical. Whether your child thrives in quieter settings, benefits from adaptive tools, or simply enjoys a gentler pace, we’ll explore ways to celebrate inclusively. Let’s dive in and make this season one to remember, for all the right reasons.

Creative Gifts That Spark Joy Without the Overwhelm

Gift-giving is at the heart of the holidays, but choosing presents for children requires thoughtfulness, especially when considering varying sensitivities and needs. The key is to focus on items that engage without overwhelming, promoting creativity, independence, and fun. Avoid toys that mainly stimulate, with flashing lights, loud sounds, or complex instructions that could frustrate or heighten sensory input. Instead, opt for gentle, adaptable options that align with your child’s interests and comfort level, things that bring our their creativity and playfulness.

Start with adaptive art supplies. For children who might appreciate easier-to-grip tools,

consider chunky crayons, nomess paint sets, or magnetic drawing boards. Brands like Crayola offer mess-free markers that only color on special paper, reducing cleanup stress. A personalized art kit could include washable finger paints in soft, muted colors, think pastels over neons, to encourage expression in a soothing way. Pair it with a sturdy easel that adjusts to different heights for easy access.

For kids who enjoy tactile experiences, sensory bins make fantastic gifts. Fill a shallow container with soft materials like kinetic sand, rice, or foam beads, adding hidden treasures such as small figurines or textured balls. These can be themed around holidays: a winter wonderland bin with fake snow (made from shredded coconut or baking soda) and mini pine trees.

For children with heightened awareness to textures or scents, incorporate gentle elements like subtle peppermint or vanilla, but always check for preferences.

The beauty here is customization, keep volumes low to maintain a calm experience, and use bins with lids for easy storage.

Tech gifts can be transformative if chosen wisely. Tablets with adaptive apps, such as those for communication or interactive learning games, empower children in engaging ways. Look for devices with blue-light filters and volume limits to support eye comfort and prevent auditory overload. Noise-canceling headphones are another gem; they’re not just for creating quiet spaces during holiday bustle but can play soothing audiobooks or music. Brands like Bose offer kidsized versions in fun, non-flashy designs.

Books remain timeless treasures. Opt for tactile books with raised textures, large-print options, or pop-ups.

Don’t forget experiential gifts. A subscription to a sensoryfriendly craft box service delivers monthly surprises without the shopping hassle. Or, gift a family membership to a local museum with quiet hours, many now offer sensory backpacks with fidget tools and ear defenders. These gifts emphasize quality over quantity, ensuring the holidays feel special without adding clutter or intensity.

In total, aim for gifts that align with your child’s individual

preferences. Consult with therapists or educators for recommendations, and involve your child in the process if possible, perhaps by creating a “wish list” board with pictures. This way, gifts become tools for growth, wrapped in love.

Festive Times: Building Traditions That Fit Your Family

Holidays are about creating memories, but traditional festivities like crowded parties or noisy parades can feel intense for some children. The secret? Adapt and simplify. Focus on intimate, home-based activities that celebrate the spirit of the season while honoring everyone’s comfort.

Begin with decorating. Instead of overwhelming strings of blinking lights, use soft fairy lights in warm whites or pastels.

Hang them at accessible levels, and involve your child by letting them place stickers or fabric ornaments on a felt tree. For kids sensitive to strong scents, avoid potent aromas like pine; opt for unscented candles or essential oil diffusers with calming lavender. Create a “cozy corner” in the decorating space, a snug nook with blankets and pillows where anyone can take a moment if needed.

Baking is a sensory delight when done mindfully. Choose recipes with minimal steps, like no-bake cookies or microwave mug cakes, to keep sessions short and enjoyable. Use adaptive tools: large-handled measuring cups or visual aids like color-coded ingredients. For children who appreciate predictable routines,

prep ingredients in advance and use timers with gentle chimes. Turn it into a story: “We’re making snowman cookies!” with white icing and simple decorations to keep things visually calm.

Storytime sessions can become a cherished tradition. Gather in a dimly lit room for holiday tales read aloud, perhaps with visual supports or props for added engagement. Apps like Epic! offer accessible e-books with read-along features. Extend this to a family puppet show using soft, handmade puppets, craft them from socks for a low-key activity that builds connection.

Outdoor festivities? Plan for quiet walks in nature reserves during off-peak times, bundling up for a “holiday scavenger hunt” with items like pinecones or fallen leaves. For children who prefer supported mobility, use comfortable strollers or adaptive equipment. If snow is involved, build mini snow sculptures indoors with playdough to mimic the fun without the elements.

Virtual celebrations bridge distances without travel stress. Host a Zoom holiday party with extended family, setting ground rules like muted mics and short durations. Share screens for a group story or sing-along with lyrics displayed for inclusivity.

Remember, festive times thrive on flexibility. If a planned activity feels too much, pivot to something simpler like watching a gentle holiday movie with subtitles and low volume. The goal is connection, not perfection, your child’s smiles are

Navigating the Holidays Without Overstimulation

Overstimulation can turn holidays challenging, manifesting as unease, withdrawal, or fatigue. For children with extra sensitivities, such as those to sounds, lights, or crowds, proactive strategies are essential. Here’s how to keep the season merry and manageable for everyone.

First, create a sensory audit of your home. Dim lights, reduce background noise (use white noise machines if helpful), and designate quiet zones. Visual schedules, picture-based timelines of the day’s events, help anticipate changes, reducing uncertainty. Apps like Choiceworks make these easy to customize.

Pacing is crucial. Spread activities over days rather than cramming them in. For example, open one gift per day leading up to the

main holiday, allowing time to enjoy each.

Social interactions often increase during holidays. Prepare with simple stories, narratives explaining what to expect at gatherings. Limit guest numbers and durations; host “drop-in” hours where people come briefly. For children who communicate in unique ways, provide boards with holiday phrases like “I need a break.”

Self-regulation tools are lifesavers. Fidget toys, weighted blankets, or chewable items help manage sensory input. Teach deep breathing with fun visuals, like blowing out “candle” fingers.

If things feel overwhelming, have a “reset routine”: dim room, soft music, and a favorite item. Involve the whole family in awareness. Siblings can learn to notice signs of needing a pause and suggest calm activities. Extended relatives? Share a gentle guide via email: “We’re keeping things low-key this year,

soft voices and no surprises, please.”

Traveling? Pack a comfort kit: earplugs, sunglasses, snacks. Choose accommodations with quiet rooms or accessibility features. If flying, request preboarding for a calmer start.

Wrapping It Up with Warmth

Honey Glazed Chicken with Jeweled Rice

The holiday season is here, a time to celebrate togetherness, gratitude, and nourishment. This recipe is designed especially for parents and caregivers who want to bring warmth to the table without the stress of complicated cooking. It’s colorful, comforting, and full of flavor, but most importantly, it invites joy back into the kitchen.

A little background - Jeweled rice is a beloved Middle Eastern dish known for its bright colors and festive aroma. Traditionally made with basmati rice, dried fruits, nuts, and spices (often saffron for color and fragrance), it’s a dish that celebrates abundance and love.

Before we start — let’s take a breath and get happy! Cooking is more than a task; it’s a moment to connect. Turn on your favorite music, light a candle, or say a few words of gratitude and a blessing. Feel free to invite your child to help with safe, simple steps, like adding spices or stirring. Let them explore colors, scents, and textures. Joyful cooking creates joyful meals!

What you will need for the Chicken:

• 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)

• 4–6 tablespoons olive oil, divided

• ½ teaspoon turmeric

• ½ teaspoon garlic powder

• ½ teaspoon cumin

• ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

• Sea salt and pepper to taste

• 4 tablespoons honey

Directions:

1. Rinse and pat the chicken dry. Add it to a ziplock bag or bowl.

2. Add turmeric, garlic powder, cumin, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and 2–3 tablespoons of olive oil. Seal and mix until coated evenly.

3. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (this is a great time to start your rice).

4. Heat the remaining olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

5. Place chicken skin side down first and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 170°F.

6. Flip chicken so the skin side faces up, then brush with honey and let it caramelize for 1–2 minutes.

7. Add the chicken to your jeweled rice, drizzle with extra honey if desired, and enjoy!

What you will need for the Jeweled Rice:

• 1 cup basmati rice

• 6 strands saffron + ¼ cup boiling water (optional)

• 2 tablespoons butter or ghee

• 1 small white onion, chopped

• 3 garlic cloves, minced

• 1 teaspoon garlic powder

• ½ teaspoon cumin

• ½ teaspoon turmeric

• ¼ teaspoon cardamom

• A pinch of cinnamon

• Salt and pepper to taste

• 1¼ cups water (or 1½ if not using saffron water)

• ½ cup pomegranate arils

• ¼ cup dried cranberries

• ¼ cup dried apricots, chopped

• ¼ cup roasted pistachios, chopped

• ¼ cup sliced almonds

Directions:

1. Rinse your rice until the water runs clear.

2. If using saffron, steep it in ¼ cup boiling water for about 10 minutes.

3. In a medium pan, melt butter on medium heat. Add onions and sauté until soft and translucent.

4. Add garlic and spices, stirring for one minute until fragrant.

5. Add the uncooked rice and stir to coat with the buttery spice mix.

6. Pour in saffron water plus 1¼ cups water (or 1½ cups plain water if skipping saffron).

7. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes.

8. When rice is nearly done, sprinkle dried fruits on top, cover again, and let steam for 10 minutes — this softens the fruit and infuses sweetness.

9. Gently fluff with a fork, then top with nuts and pomegranate arils.

Serve warm alongside your honey-glazed chicken and take a moment to breathe in the aroma — that’s love you can smell.

For Carey Archer-Howell, founder of Lux Homes LV, real estate isn’t just about transactions it’s about transformation. With a career built on connection, care, and consistency, Carey has become one of Henderson’s most trusted Realtors, known for her warmth, polished professionalism, and ability to turn complex deals into smooth, joyful moves.

“Buying or selling a home is emotional,” Carey says. “It’s about stepping into your next chapter and my job is to make that process exciting and empowering, not stressful.”

From Service to Success

Before she was closing deals, Carey spent more than 24 years in customer service, honing the skills

Carey Archer-Howell

Living the Dream, Guiding Others to Theirs

that now define her success: listening, empathy, and exceptional followthrough. “I learned how to understand people what they want, what they need, and what makes them feel safe and supported,” she explains.

That foundation naturally transitioned into real estate in 2020, when Carey followed her long-held dream of building a business rooted in service and connection. Within a few short years, she became a Top 10 Producer at Keller Williams Marketplace and earned multiple Bronze Awards for production achievements that speak to her dedication and discipline.

But numbers aren’t what drive her. “It’s about people. It’s about helping families find stability, investors grow their portfolio, and individuals realize that owning property isn’t just possible it’s powerful.”

Breaking Through Limiting Beliefs

Carey’s journey into real estate ownership didn’t happen overnight. For years, she believed what many people do that owning multiple homes was something “other people” did.

“I used to think I could only own one home at a time,” she shares. “That kind of thinking keeps so many of us from building wealth through real estate. Once I educated myself and shifted that mindset, everything changed.”

Today, Carey and her husband not only own their personal home in Inspirada, but also investment properties that generate longterm income and equity. “I live what I teach,” she says. “Real estate has given my family freedom and stability. It’s the platform that’s building our future and I want that for my clients, too.”

That personal experience allows Carey to guide her clients with confidence, especially those who are exploring their first investment property or considering using the equity in their current home to level up. “I know how it feels to take that leap,” she says. “So I walk my clients through it step by step, with the same care I’d give my own family.”

Rooted in Henderson, Inspired by Community

Carey’s business is deeply local. As a Henderson resident since 2015,

she’s built Lux Homes LV around the neighborhoods she knows best Inspirada, Anthem, Seven Hills, and Green Valley while serving clients across the Las Vegas Valley.

“I live, work, and raise my kids here. My business is built on relationships,” she says. “When someone hires me, they’re getting someone who understands not just the market, but the lifestyle.”

Her love for her community shows up in everything she does from hosting neighborhood events and seasonal client gatherings to turning her home into the legendary ‘Monster House’ every Halloween. Families from all over stop by for treats, photos, and fun, and many become lifelong friends and clients. “Connection builds community, and community builds trust,” she says. “That’s how I do business.”

Family First, Always

Family is Carey’s greatest motivation. As a wife and mom of five, she’s no stranger to balancing priorities. “My family keeps me centered,” she says. “They’re the reason I push for excellence every day.”

Her husband, Brandon, shares her entrepreneurial mindset. Together, they’re building their real estate portfolio with a long-term goal of achieving full financial freedom through property ownership. “When you live what you sell,” she explains, “your passion becomes your proof.”

The Market Today: Opportunity Awaits

When asked about the current Las Vegas market, Carey’s perspective is realistic yet upbeat.

“Yes, things have shifted from the pandemic boom, but opportunity

never disappears it just changes shape,” she says. “Right now, we’re in a balanced market where knowledge and strategy matter more than ever. Buyers have room to negotiate, and sellers who price and present their homes properly are still seeing great results.”

She focuses on educating clients about long-term value, not just short-term timing. “Real estate will always be one of the strongest wealth-building tools out there,” she says. “Even in a changing market, smart moves today can set you up for success tomorrow.”

The Lux Homes LV Selling Strategy

Carey’s approach to selling is part art, part science. Her background in marketing and her eye for design (honed from years as a makeup artist and creative) help her present homes with unmatched polish.

Her strategy includes staging advice, professional photography, lifestyle-driven descriptions, and high-impact social media marketing all tailored to highlight each property’s story.

“I don’t just sell houses; I sell how it feels to live there,” Carey explains. “People fall in love with stories, and I make sure every listing tells one.” Her results speak for themselves: faster sales, stronger offers, and clients who feel guided every step of the way.

The Future of Real Estate: Tech Meets Connection

Looking ahead, Carey sees the future of real estate as a blend of technology and human touch.

“AI, automation, and online tools are great, but nothing replaces personal connection,” she says. “People still want to feel understood and valued. That’s never going away.”

She believes the agents who will thrive are the ones who combine modern marketing with authentic relationships a philosophy that’s at the core of Lux Homes LV. “I use every tool available digital marketing, video, community networking but I never lose sight of the human side,” she says. “That’s what makes a great Realtor.”

More Than Business: It’s a Lifestyle

For Carey, success in real estate is about living the life she helps others create one filled with balance, family, and joy. When she’s not working, you’ll find her at the gym, out dancing, exploring new restaurants, or hosting friends at home.

“I tell my clients all the time you’re not just buying a home; you’re designing your lifestyle,” she says. “That’s what Lux Homes LV is all about. Real estate is the vehicle, but the destination is happiness.”

Katie Meadows

Redefining Success in Las Vegas Real Estate

For Las Vegas real estate professional Katie Meadows, success isn’t just measured in sales— it’s measured in relationships, resilience, and the courage to start over.

For many people, the journey to finding their true calling doesn’t happen overnight. It’s shaped by experience, resilience, and a willingness to take risks. For Katie, that journey started long before she ever handed a client their first set of keys.

Her story begins in Las Vegas, the city she calls home. After earning a bachelor’s degree in business, she stepped into a fast-paced career in the casino industry, working as a cocktail server for 16 years. That career taught her about people, service, and the importance of showing up even on the busiest nights. Those lessons about connection

and communication became the foundation for her future in real estate.

After more than a decade in the casino world, Katie began to feel a shift. The work was steady, but something was missing. She wanted more fulfillment— something that felt like it had a lasting impact. That desire for meaning led her to one of the biggest transitions of her life.

When she entered the real estate industry, she quickly discovered that success wasn’t just about selling homes—it was about relationships. Her first clients weren’t just transactions; they were stories, dreams, and families putting their trust in her guidance. Katie made it her mission to make every client feel supported and confident through each step of the process.

Like many new agents, she faced the uncertainty of building a business from scratch. She learned marketing, contracts, and how to stand out in a competitive city like Las Vegas. Going independent was both intimidating and empowering, forcing her to grow not only as a professional but as a person.

Today, as a top producer and team owner, Katie embodies that growth. Her success is proof that strength comes from perseverance and that fulfillment often follows when you choose courage over comfort.

Years in the Las Vegas real estate market have given her a deep understanding of what makes the city so unique. The market

is constantly evolving, with new communities, revitalized areas, and opportunities for every type of buyer. From master-planned neighborhoods in the southwest to active adult communities like Sun City Anthem, Las Vegas truly offers something for everyone—whether they’re first-time buyers, investors, or retirees.

When working with buyers, Katie emphasizes preparation and education. She encourages clients to start with a clear understanding of their finances, get pre-approved, and be ready to act quickly in competitive markets. Being proactive and organized helps clients stand out and feel more confident in their decisions. She also reminds them to think beyond the financial side and consider lifestyle, commute, and community—because a home isn’t just a property; it’s the foundation of their life.

For sellers, Katie stresses the importance of presentation and realistic expectations. A wellprepared home sells faster and for more money. Decluttering, deep cleaning, and small updates like fresh paint or lighting can make a major difference. With most buyers beginning their search online, strong listing photos, accurate descriptions, and effective digital marketing are key to catching attention and creating emotional appeal.

Behind Katie’s professional drive is a deeper story rooted in resilience and compassion. Growing up between Las Vegas and Mississippi, she faced challenges that shaped her character. As a teenager, she stood out for her individuality— wearing band T-shirts, dyeing her hair purple, and expressing herself freely—but that confidence often made her a target for bullying. Those experiences, though painful,

developed her empathy and strengthened her desire to help others feel seen, accepted, and valued.

Her mother, who worked for Boyd Gaming, played a major role in shaping who Katie is today. Through her example, Katie learned independence, kindness, and the value of hard work. She credits her mother with teaching her to know her worth and to never lose her sense of compassion—qualities that define her approach to real estate today.

Katie continues to invest in her own growth, recently participating in a leadership program to strengthen her confidence and communication skills. For someone who once struggled with public speaking due to feeling judged and singled out when she was younger, this step represented more than professional development—it was an act of courage and self-belief. It allowed her to find her voice and embrace her ability to lead with authenticity.

Katie’s favorite part of her career is the people she meets and the relationships she builds along the way. Her business thrives on referrals from past clients, a reflection of the trust and connection she’s built over time. Knowing that someone chooses to refer their family or friends is a reminder that she’s not just selling homes—she’s creating experiences that people remember.

Her definition of success is grounded in fulfillment rather than numbers. For her, it’s about waking up every day feeling grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. It’s about being proud of the work she does and how she treats others in the process.

Katie’s story is about more than real

estate—it’s about rediscovering purpose, no matter where life takes you. She believes that it’s never too late to start over and that every experience, even the difficult ones, can prepare you for what’s next. Change, she believes, isn’t something to fear but something to embrace.

She encourages others who feel stuck or unfulfilled to listen to their instincts and trust their ability to begin again. Fulfillment, she’s learned, comes from having the courage to step out of your comfort zone and pursue something that truly matters to you.

In both life and business, Katie believes in leading with heart. By focusing on connection, service, and authenticity, the numbers always follow. Her success is living proof that when you build your career on kindness, strength, and perseverance, you create something far more meaningful than sales—you create a legacy built on trust.

Light Up the Season with Grace, Not Guilt

The end of the year invites reflection. The lights twinkle, the air cools, and there’s a quiet sense of pause. But for many women, that pause quickly fills with pressure — to wrap everything up perfectly, to make the holidays magical for everyone else, to finish strong, and to somehow start the new year already “better.”

We don’t just light up the season. We carry it.

And beneath the sparkle, many women feel the weight of guilt. Guilt for what we didn’t do, didn’t finish, didn’t follow through on. Guilt for being tired, for wanting space, or for not feeling as joyful as the season tells us we “should.” If you’ve ever entered December feeling like you’re running on empty and blaming yourself for it, you’re not alone.

The Weight We Carry

For most women, the holiday

season isn’t just about celebration. It’s about caretaking, managing, and holding everyone else’s emotions. We think about the gifts, the meals, the gatherings, the family dynamics, and the traditions that somehow always fall on our plate.

We do it because we care. But in doing so, we often carry an invisible weight of expectation.

That weight shows up in small but powerful ways: the racing mind at bedtime, the heavy sigh when you finally sit down, the edge of irritability that makes you feel unlike yourself.

Biologically, it’s no coincidence. Chronic guilt and overthinking can keep your body in a lowgrade stress response, releasing cortisol and disrupting the delicate hormonal balance that’s already shifting during perimenopause and menopause. Over time, it can leave you

feeling fatigued, inflamed, and disconnected from your own joy.

The truth is, guilt dims your light more than anything else ever could.

The Shift from Guilt to Grace

Grace is the antidote.

Grace is the deep exhale that reminds you it’s okay to rest. Grace is letting go of what didn’t get done and trusting it wasn’t supposed to.

Grace is remembering that your worth isn’t tied to your productivity or your perfection. When you practice grace, you step out of the endless cycle of “not enough” and into a rhythm that supports your body, mind, and hormones.

You don’t need to do more to shine brighter. You simply need to stop dimming yourself with guilt.

Rituals to Rekindle Your Light

This season, I invite you to create small rituals that help you protect your energy and bring your light back home to yourself.

Reflect, Don’t Review

Instead of measuring what you accomplished, reflect on what felt meaningful. What moments made you laugh? When did you feel most at peace? Let those memories guide you forward more than any to-do list ever could.

Choose Warmth Over Perfection

You don’t need every detail to be flawless for the holidays to be beautiful. The glow of connection, a genuine smile, or a shared story will always shine brighter than the most polished table setting.

Release the Year with Intention

Sometime before the new year, light a candle and write

down what you’re ready to release: the guilt, the pressure, the comparison. Then let it go. You can tear it, burn it safely, or simply fold it and put it away. A symbolic release helps your body and nervous system feel safe to reset.

Carry One Small Spark Forward

Instead of a list of resolutions, choose one gentle intention for yourself. Something that nourishes rather than demands. Maybe it’s, “I will listen to what my body needs.” Or, “I will stop apologizing for resting.” Let that be your light into the new year.

The Hormone Connection

When we live under constant pressure, even subtle emotional pressure, cortisol stays elevated. Over time, this can disrupt blood sugar, sleep, and even estrogen balance.

Grace, on the other hand, brings the body back into balance. When you breathe deeply, rest

intentionally, or choose selfcompassion over guilt, your nervous system calms, your heart rate steadies, and your hormones respond in kind.

This isn’t just emotional work. It’s physiological healing.

Light That Lasts

Your light doesn’t come from how much you do. It comes from how much you honor yourself in the process.

This December, give yourself permission to slow down, to receive, to be cared for, and to reflect with softness instead of scrutiny.

You’ve spent the year showing up for your family, your friends, your work, and your community. Now it’s time to show up for yourself.

Your light doesn’t need to be brighter. It just needs to be yours.

The Season of Rising: Becoming Your Highest Self

December has always felt like a sacred pause a gentle invitation to look inward before we step forward. It’s more than the end of a year; it’s the bridge between who we were and who we’re ready to become.

This month isn’t about resolutions or reinventions. It’s about rising into your highest self.

The Becoming

Your highest self isn’t some perfect version waiting at the finish line. She’s already within you beneath the layers of fear, doubt, and distraction. She’s the voice that whispers “you can” when you’ve convinced yourself you can’t. The calm that shows up when chaos tries to steal your peace. The light that refuses to dim, even when life gets heavy.

This season, I’ve been meeting her more often. In the quiet mornings before the world wakes up. In the moments I choose discipline over excuses. In the boundaries I hold and the softness I no longer apologize for.

Becoming your highest self doesn’t mean doing more — it means being more of what’s real, aligned, and true.

The Frequency Shift

Here’s what I’ve learned: transformation starts in your energy

long before it shows up in your results. When you start walking, talking, and thinking as your highest self, life rearranges to meet you there.

I stopped waiting for the “right time” to feel proud of myself. I started acting like the woman who already had peace, abundance, and freedom and my world shifted.

You don’t attract what you want; you attract what you embody. And the moment you start living in alignment with your highest vibration, you stop chasing and start magnetizing.

That’s the power of identity.

The Daily Alignment

Your highest self doesn’t need perfection she needs consistency. Every morning is a mirror. Ask yourself:

1. How would my highest self start this day?

2. What would she release that no longer serves her?

3. How would she speak to herself, her body, her dreams?

Then act accordingly. Because becoming her isn’t one big leap it’s hundreds of tiny choices made with love and conviction.

The Soft Power

The woman I used to be thought

power came from doing it all. The woman I am becoming knows power comes from alignment from choosing peace over proving, intuition over impulse, purpose over perfection.

Your highest self doesn’t compete; she calibrates. She doesn’t chase validation; she trusts her worth. She doesn’t shrink for comfort; she expands for destiny.

That’s what rising looks like.

The Closing Reflection

So as this year closes, don’t just set goals set standards.

Raise your energy.

Raise your habits.

Raise your vision for what’s possible.

Because the next chapter of your life doesn’t require permission it requires presence.

This is your season to rise into your highest frequency where peace is power, purpose is your compass, and becoming isn’t something you strive for…

It’s something you embody.

Here’s to the next version of you radiant, grounded, and unstoppable.

Las Vegas Holiday Bucket List

Magic, Memories & Meaning

There’s something extraordinary about December in Las Vegas. Beneath the sparkle of the Strip and the glow of our desert sunsets, the city transforms into a wonderland of lights, laughter, and local love.

For many, Vegas is known for its energy — the neon, the nightlife, the excitement that never sleeps. But when December rolls in, something softer takes over. Families gather, neighborhoods decorate, and communities across the valley come alive with traditions that remind us what this season is truly about: connection, giving, and joy.

Whether you’re looking for cozy date-night ideas, family-friendly adventures, or simple ways to feel festive, this Las Vegas Holiday Bucket List is your guide to

everything merry and meaningful happening around town this season.

1. Wander Through a Desert Wonderland at Ethel M Chocolate Factory

It wouldn’t be Christmas in Las Vegas without the twinkling cactus garden at Ethel M Chocolate Factory in Henderson. Every December, this local favorite transforms its three-acre cactus garden into a glowing desert of more than a million lights.

Visitors can stroll through winding paths surrounded by illuminated cacti and desert flora — each plant wrapped with care, creating a warm, colorful glow under the Nevada sky. It’s festive without being overdone, and the smell of

cocoa from the chocolate shop makes the whole experience even sweeter.

Be sure to grab a cup of their famous hot chocolate or sample a few of their handcrafted truffles before leaving. And if you’re looking for a photo that captures the season, the light tunnel near the entrance is a must.

Pro Tip: Go on a weekday evening for smaller crowds and easier parking. Tickets are typically free with a small donation that supports local charities.

2. Ice Skating at The Cosmopolitan: Holiday Magic in the Sky

Imagine skating above the Las Vegas Strip while snow flurries fall around you. It sounds like a scene

out of a Christmas movie, but it’s real — and it happens every year at The Cosmopolitan’s Ice Rink.

Set high above Las Vegas Boulevard, the rooftop pool deck transforms into a winter paradise complete with fire pits, festive cocktails, roasted s’mores, and cozy blankets. Couples hold hands under twinkling lights, families laugh as they learn to skate, and friends gather for holiday photo ops with a view unlike any other.

The best part? Every hour, the rink “snows,” filling the air with magic — and maybe a few happy tears from those who’ve never seen snow in Vegas.

Don’t Miss: Their movie nights under the stars. Classics like Elf, Home Alone, and The Polar Express

are projected on the big screen while you skate or sip cocoa.

3. The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village

For many Las Vegas locals, The Magical Forest isn’t just a holiday event — it’s a tradition. Hosted by Opportunity Village, this enchanting park has been spreading holiday cheer for over 30 years, all while supporting adults with disabilities in our community.

The forest comes alive with lights, music, and family fun. You’ll find a miniature train ride that winds through glowing displays, an enchanted carousel, and whimsical photo backdrops that make it feel like you’ve stepped into the North Pole.

Kids’ eyes light up when they see Santa, and adults can’t help but feel the joy that comes from being surrounded by laughter, kindness, and purpose.

Why It Matters: Every ticket purchased helps Opportunity Village continue its incredible work — providing jobs, training, and independence for those with disabilities. Supporting this event means you’re giving back while making memories.

4. Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens: A Classic Christmas Dream

No holiday season in Las Vegas is complete without a visit to the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. Each year, the talented horticultural team creates a new winter display that feels straight out of a fairytale.

Giant Christmas trees sparkle with gold and silver ornaments, polar

bears made of white carnations stand tall among snow-dusted bridges, and a majestic train circles a miniature holiday village. The aroma of pine and poinsettias fills the air, and the detail in every design is breathtaking.

It’s a place where you can pause the rush of the season and simply be in awe — of beauty, craftsmanship, and creativity. And the best part? It’s completely free.

Photo Tip: Early mornings are the quietest time to go if you want that perfect shot beneath the giant tree.

5. Holiday Nights at Downtown Container Park

If you prefer your holidays with a side of live music, local art, and great food, head to Downtown Container Park. This family-friendly outdoor venue made of shipping containers hosts festive events all season long, from tree-lighting ceremonies to holiday movie nights and artisan pop-ups.

Kids love the playground and giant treehouse slide, while adults can shop local boutiques, grab drinks at the open-air bars, and enjoy holiday performances from local musicians. It’s laid-back, creative, and full of Las Vegas spirit.

You’ll often find vendors selling handmade gifts — candles, jewelry, and home decor — that make thoughtful last-minute presents. And don’t forget to snap a photo in

front of the park’s signature holiday decorations (yes, even the giant praying mantis gets festive).

RISE Tip: Support local! Many of the small businesses at Container Park are owned by Vegas residents who pour their heart into what they do.

6. Downtown Summerlin’s Parade of Lights & Ice Rink

For a festive outing on the west side, Downtown Summerlin is a one-stop shop for all things holiday. Each December, the streets light up with a nightly Parade of Lights, complete with dancing elves, snowflake stilt walkers, and Santa himself leading the way.

Families gather along Park Centre Drive to watch floats roll by, while Christmas music fills the air. It’s joyful, free, and guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit.

Afterward, head over to the Rock Rink for ice skating surrounded by twinkling trees and a giant LED holiday display. It’s a pictureperfect moment whether you’re with family, friends, or a special someone.

7. Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Bundle up, grab some cocoa, and drive through Glittering Lights, Nevada’s largest holiday light show at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Over five million lights illuminate the racetrack in dazzling displays — from animated tunnels to sparkling Santa scenes and patriotic tributes. You can tune your car radio to a holiday station synced to the lights, creating a full sensory experience of music and magic.

For Families: Kids love seeing their favorite holiday characters, and parents love that they can enjoy the show from the comfort (and warmth) of their car.

Pro Tip: Go early in the season or on weekdays to avoid the long lines closer to Christmas Eve.

8. Volunteer or Give Back Locally

The holidays aren’t just about lights and events — they’re about love in action. Consider adding a giving tradition to your bucket list this year.

You can volunteer at food banks like Three Square, adopt a family through HELP of Southern Nevada, or donate toys to Toys for Tots and local shelters. Even something as simple as buying a hot meal for someone in need or leaving a

generous tip for a service worker can make a world of difference. In true RISE spirit, every act of kindness contributes to the light that shines across our city — the kind of light that lasts long after the decorations come down.

9. Create Your Own Home Tradition

Finally, don’t forget that the most meaningful memories often happen at home. Whether it’s baking cookies, hosting a hot cocoa night, or writing gratitude notes to your family, small traditions build the legacy of love that holidays are meant to bring.

Play music, light candles, watch your favorite Christmas movies, and let your heart slow down enough to really feel the season.

A City That Shines Brighter Together

Las Vegas is more than its reputation. It’s a city of heart, creativity, and community — and December is when that shines brightest. From the glittering lights of Ethel M’s cactus garden to the laughter echoing through Downtown Summerlin’s parade, every corner of our city tells a story of joy and togetherness.

This holiday season, take time to explore, give back, and connect. The real magic of Christmas isn’t found in the lights — it’s found in the moments that make you feel alive, grateful, and connected to something bigger than yourself.

So grab your mittens, your camera, and the people you love — because the holidays in Las Vegas are waiting to welcome you home.

There’s A Ring In The Air

There’s a ring in the air

Can you hear the sound

It’s like nothing I’ve heard And nothing I’ve found It’s crisp, angelic And full of life

Clearing my mind

And releasing all strife

Oh what peaece He brings to me

A presence that is only Thee I thank you Lord for being here

As You are each day

And throughout each year

The Next Frontier in Wellness: How Peptides Are Shaping the Future of Health

In the world of wellness and longevity, few topics are generating more excitement—or confusion— than peptides. Once confined to research labs and biotech firms, peptides are now being integrated into wellness clinics, medical spas, and health-optimization programs nationwide. For Nevada’s health community, especially in fastgrowing regions like Las Vegas and Henderson, this evolution signals a new wave of opportunity to blend science, recovery, and performance in a way that’s both modern and measurable.

Understanding peptides: Where we are now

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as messengers in the body, carrying instructions that regulate countless biological functions—everything from tissue repair to hormone balance and immune support [1]. Because of their targeted nature, peptides can often do what traditional supplements or pharmaceuticals can’t: activate very specific cellular

processes without broadly affecting unrelated systems.

The pharmaceutical industry has taken notice. As of 2025, hundreds of peptide-based drugs are in development for conditions ranging from metabolic disorders to neurodegenerative diseases [2]. In the wellness arena, clinicians are increasingly using peptides as part of comprehensive protocols that aim not just to treat illness, but to optimize health, longevity, and performance.

The

current landscape: Peptides

in

wellness clinics

In progressive wellness and integrative-medicine centers across the U.S., peptides are being implemented in diverse ways. Some, like BPC-157 and TB-500, are researched for tissue and tendon repair. Others, such as CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin, are utilized to support natural growth-hormone release. Cosmetic peptides are already common in topical skin care to stimulate collagen and reduce wrinkles [3].

For clinics in Nevada—where performance, aesthetics, and recovery are major lifestyle markets—peptides are aligning with what patients are demanding: real science with visible results. It’s an especially timely fit for the Las Vegas area, where both fitness and medical-spa industries are thriving.

What makes peptides different— and exciting

1. Precision and specificity –Peptides can target very specific receptors, reducing unwanted side effects compared with broaderacting drugs [4].

2. Regenerative potential –Certain peptides may help accelerate repair and regeneration in connective tissue, skin, or muscle [5].

3. Synergy with other modalities – Peptides pair effectively with physical therapy, nutrition programs, hormone optimization, and even cosmetic procedures.

4. Rapid innovation – The field is advancing quickly, with improved formulations that are more stable,

longer-acting, and even orally bioavailable [6].

This convergence of precision, personalization, and accessibility is what’s driving the peptide boom— and it’s only the beginning.

The road ahead: The future of peptide-based wellness

The next decade promises breakthroughs that could reshape how health professionals and patients view wellness.

• Improved delivery systems: Historically, peptides were limited by their fragility and poor oral absorption. Researchers are now developing delivery methods that increase stability and bioavailability [7].

• Personalized peptide stacks: As data-driven health testing becomes standard, individualized “stacks” tailored to each person’s biology will emerge, optimizing energy, cognition, and recovery [8].

• Integration into mainstream care: As clinical data accumulates, peptides are likely to move further into regulated medical practice, complementing traditional therapies rather than replacing them.

• New frontiers: Research is expanding into peptides for metabolism, inflammation control, neuroprotection, and immune support [9].

For Nevada’s wellness professionals, this evolution represents not just an

opportunity to adopt a trend—but to lead a transformation.

What patients and practitioners should know

As promising as peptides are, their success depends on responsible use and informed sourcing. Here are key principles every practitioner and patient should understand:

• Education matters: Peptide research evolves quickly. Clinicians must stay current with peer-reviewed data and ethical best practices.

• Quality is critical: Because not all peptide sources are equal, choosing suppliers that maintain strict purity, sterility, and U.S.- or EU-based manufacturing standards is essential.

• Compliance counts: Working with companies that operate within FDA-compliant frameworks protects both practitioners and patients.

• Integration is key: Peptides work best as part of a holistic wellness plan—including exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress management—not as isolated “magic shots.”

Why Nevada is the perfect environment

Nevada’s active, appearancefocused, and health-conscious population makes it fertile ground for advanced wellness solutions. From athletes in Henderson to performers on the Strip, people are seeking next-level recovery, focus, and vitality.

Winter Wellness

For Your Canine Friend

The winter season is here & whether you know it or not, it can impact your dog’s health. Impacting everything from energy levels, skin condition, & overall well-being. Dogs react to shifts in temperature, daylight hours & humidity just like us humans. However, there are some breeds who tend to thrive in the colder weather while others struggle with the winter chill. Likewise to hot & humid conditions that may lead to overheating & allergies. By understanding seasonal changes & how they affect your dog’s health or behavior, you will be able to help by making changes to their diet & or routine to keep your pet happy & healthy year-round. I’m here to break it all down & discuss everything you should be aware of as well as some tips to help you & your dog make it through the colder months.

The winter can significantly affect your dog’s paws in many ways especially in areas that experience snowy conditions & use de-icing salts, with the low temperatures it can irritate the skin. Leading to discomfort & potential digestive issues if ingested. Cold air & dry conditions can cause the paw pads to become rough, cracked, and even sensitive to touch. Snowy conditions also puts your dog at risk from frostbite due to prolonged exposure to the cold. This is a serious condition that must require immediate attention. Regular care & inspection on your dog’s paws is essential & should be done often to prevent this, always check for signs of injury, irritation, & inflammation.

Here are some preventive measures you can take, the first being regular grooming on the paws to trim the

hair between your dog’s paw pads & around the edges of their paws to prevent ice & snow from clumping & causing irritation. Keep their nails trimmed because long nails can cause paws to splay making them more vulnerable to injury. On extremely colder days, limit exposure by keeping walks short & do your best to avoid heavily salted sidewalks. As for your own property, create a safe potty spot & use petfriendly ice melt to avoid irritation to paws & or digestive issues. If your furry friend can tolerate it, you can purchase booties which is the most effective method to protect your dog from the snow, sharp ice, & chemicals. Choose the waterproof & non-slip sole booties & be sure to choose the correct size for your pup, many dogs have different size front & rear paws.

If your dog won’t tolerate booties, you can go with an alternative method which is to apply a thin layer of pet safe paw balm or wax before walks. Which will create a protective barrier to help prevent snow & ice balls from forming between their toes. Post walk care is after every walk, use a warm damp cloth or a paw washer to clean & remove any lingering salt, chemicals, or ice paying close attention to the spaces between your dog’s toes. Thoroughly towel dry their paws & between the paw pads preventing the moisture from leading to cracked skin & or infection. Be sure to do your routine inspection for injuries, cracks, cuts, or signs of irritation. If the paws are particularly irritated a short soak in lukewarm water before a thorough drying can help ease discomfort. If your dog’s paws are

free from irritation the final step is to moisturize their paws with another thin layer of paw balm or wax to soothe any dryness & to fix or prevent cracks. Following these steps you can help ensure your dog’s paws remain comfortable & healthy throughout the winter season.

The next thing we are going to discuss is how to protect your dog’s skin during the winter. You will want to start by limiting their baths to once a month as too frequent washing can strip your pup of natural oils. Avoid using human shampoos that will dry out their skin & aim for a pet safe moisturizing shampoo & conditioner. After a bath, always be sure to thoroughly dry your dog.

Now let’s discuss how to protect your dog’s coat during the winter time which does go hand-in-hand with their skin health. Keeping their skin moisturized & coat clean is the first step but trimming their fur strategically around the belly to prevent snow and ice from building up. Avoid shaving any double coated breeds as their fur is essential for insulation. Brushing regularly removes dirt, loose hair, prevents mats & distributes natural oils that keep the skin and coat moisturized.

Now if your dog is a short haired breed or sensitive to the cold, can provide a jacket or sweater

to help protect them from cold temperatures. Make sure your dog’s undercoat is completely dry after they come in from the cold and wet to prevent skin & coat issues.

Additional tips I have is to ensure proper hydration, keeping your dog well hydrated is crucial for healthy skin & a glossy coat. Support their nutrition, feed your dog a highquality balanced diet & consider adding supplements like fish oil or other omega -3s to support a healthy coat from the inside out. As for your home environment, use a humidifier. Indoor heating can dry out the air as the humidifier adds moisture back into the air, helping your dog’s skin stay supple.

Follow all these tips & tricks throughout the winter season and your furry best friend will absolutely love you for it. No matter the season our dogs make us feel loved & warm & now you’ll be able to return the favor all year round.

Tip: These store beautifully in an airtight container for up to a week. They make wonderful lunchbox snacks, quick pick-me-ups, or sweet gifts straight from the heart. Enjoy — and may your season be merry, bright, and full of healthy treats!
