MESSAGE FROM MARTY This Product Guide is designed to assist our clients & customers achieve extraordinary experiences from their Sheep & Wool enterprises by revealing & explaining our latest services & reaffirming our core values & commitment to the wool producer. In our 100th year of operation we take time to reflect on the achievements and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. The Volatility of the Wool Market As I reflect on the past year, I wanted to share with you the key events that have contributed to the most significant 12 month period in my time in the wool industry. The impact of these events will be etched in history, however as we are currently still in the COVID whirlwind and there is no one who can predict when the start of the end of COVID will commence, the rest is still to be determined. The image on the adjoining page depicts some key events in time that have contributed to the most significant 12 month period in my time in the wool industry. The impact of these events will be etched in history, however we currently are still in the COVID whirlwind and there is no one who can predict when the start of the end of COVID will commence To try and water down the impact of COVID on the EMI seasonal movement would be amiss of me. The combination of a declining economic growth driven by COVID-19, The US China Trade War, the BREXIT nuances have all contributed to the

catastrophic blow dealt to the wool producers and the entire wool pipeline. Below is a sobering snapshot of the carnage of the adjoining page story. Forward projections Reading the latest quarterly report from Western Union/Mercado Quarterly Report reveals that their projection for the EMI in 2020 is 1050c-1175c and for 2021 950c-1250c. None of this is good news for wool production in Australia. There are numerous forecasts predicting similar results which is a bitter pill to swallow, however as we know from previous major worldwide events, wool as a rare and luxurious fibre generally reacts to these events with wilder fluctuations than almost all other rural commodities. Some positives we have learned from the past are that Wool can be successfully stored for lengthy periods of time in secure warehouses and on-farm storage. Of course not all wool producers can go without the cash flow of the wool cheque for too long especially following back to back droughts along the eastern sea board. Whilst retail demand for Textiles worldwide has slowed substantially, demand for natural fibres may drive an increase in wool content in the casual knitwear, active wear and athleisure clothing. This is more evident in China who are currently purchasing over 93% of the Australian Wool clip. The increase and with social distancing and isolation becoming more prevalent in our society we may find the trip to the crowded mall might be traded for a weekend hiking or camping. It may even mean a trend back to comfort rather than fashionable clothing.

China are reporting a gradual increase in textile sales post the COVID-19 isolations period, especially in the knitted sweater/pullover market. Whilst this is encouraging there is a long way to go with the rest of our major export destinations for wool in India and Italy/Europe.

We believe in a bright future for the Industry We operate with a clear vision & purpose

I feel it will be a long period before our traditional markets in ladies and men’s suiting and ladies fashion garments recover.

The International Monetary Fund Growth Projections We believe in being for growth in the global economies are still a way off.

upfront, transparent & realistic Managing things that are in our control

In the tough financial times it is human nature to cut costs to a minimum, “think with your check book” as a wise client once told me. However my advice for wool producers is that without spending any additional money they can increase the pressure on their sheep and wool classing to ensure they meet their breeding goals and meet and exceed the Wool Classing Code of Practice. Australia has enjoyed a reputation of having the best prepared and best quality wool in the world. My

view is that we cannot afford to allow poor wool classing and preparation to erode any advantage we may receiving currently. Managing the Market volatility with forward price contracts have been re-emerging over the past 6 weeks, as wool producers recognise the impact of the shrinking wool cheque and the difficulty that places on their enterprise for managing diminishing cash-flow. Speak to your Moses & Son WTO about the mechanics of our Forward Contracts to secure your wool proceeds.

One of the most significant opportunities today is the ability to tell a positive story to our customer through integrity schemes. SustainaWOOL Blue or SustainaWOOL Green to advertise to our clients the best practice done on farm coupled with the other AWEX Integrity schemes like the Code of Practice, Auction Pre Sale Audits, in shed data capture using Woolclip. There is a great story about Australian Wool producer’s ethical treatment of their animals, compliance in on farm management practices, sustainable management of our land and people. As SustainaWOOL builds their brand partners this will become increasingly important in marketing your clip.

WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN SHEEP & WOOL! What makes Moses & Son different from the other Brokers, Stockies & Rural stores?

Aussie Innovation If there is a way to work smarter rather than harder, let’s find it! With rising costs across the pipeline and labour units either ageing or hard to find, it is more important than ever to keep searching and trialling new and improved products and technologies, for both the farm, warehouse and office. Investing in products and systems to ensure a successful future for the wool industry.

Young guns Moses & Son have employed, and are proud supporters of a number of industry initiatives to encourage the next generation to get involved and enthusiastic about the future of wool and sheep. Investing in people to ensure a successful future for the wool industy.

Information is key Data collection, benchmarking and analysis are such vital farm management tools to ensure longevity and success. We continue to work with our research partners and clients to collect, develop and enhance these skills. Investing in benchmarking and research to ensure a successful future for the wool industry.

Aussie owned and operated We live and operate close to the clients we serve. We are strong advocates and supporters of local communities and their families. Keeping it local means money and jobs stay in our towns and are not sent offshore. Investing in our communities to ensure a successful future for the wool industry.

Moses & Son have been operating as a family business in New South Wales since 1920. Whilst the strong bond to the past & traditions have founded & grown the business, it is the opportunities that the future possess that gets us excited. With adversity comes opportunity; over the last couple of decades with shrinking wool volume we identified the need to diversify. We have complemented our Wool Brokering & Buying service to also include Bluechip Livestock Agency, Rural Merchandise division & a Merino sheep Research Farm, run as a commercial property. These services have been specifically selected, so we can provide added value to the Producers we service & safeguard the sustainability & success of the wool & sheep industry. 8

$1 BALE REBATE Moses & Son are excited continue our support and encourage wool producers and wool classers in the uptake of WoolClip! The relatively new technology is revolutionising the data collection and management of wool harvesting, transport and logistics. Moses & Son have committed to offering $1/bale rebate to encourage wool producers and wool classers to use the AWEX WoolClip application for their future shearings. The offer is aimed at highlighting the indirect cost to wool producers in collecting and processing data several times in the preparation and sale process. We are also excited to explore the expected efficiency gains throughout the pipeline, made possible by this innovative piece of software. WoolClip is a website & smart phone application designed to enter on-farm wool information to generate & send wool specification sheets in data & report form to the warehouse & the organisation chosen by the wool grower to market their wool. Using Woolclip means: No more duplicate bales on a specification,  Information can be added progressively during shearing (using the smart phone app if no data connections),  A Job can be maintained by one or more users working as a collaborative team,

National Wool Declarations can be authorised online, or by using a smart phone or email,  The Specification is released on finalisation by the user, &  Information entered is saved for future reference by the user. For more information on the benefits of WoolClip & how you can utilise it in your enterprise please speak to your Wool Technical Officer. Managing Market Volatility Risk Using Forward Selling Are you fed up with the wool market plummeting just as you are about to sell? Or conversely you have just sold & the market then rises immediately. The fact is that wool is one of the world’s most volatile commodities. Moses & Son believe that in the current world economic environment wool prices will remain a volatile commodity. The elevated volatility of the wool market in recent years has encouraged some wool growers to seek ways to avoid being forced to sell at the bottom of the market or to store wool anticipating price increases. Price Risk Management Services In recognition of an increasing need to manage price risks associated with producing wool, Moses & Son have engaged Price Risk specialists AgRisk Management & AgConcepts to provide a specialised rural Price Risk Management service. As an additional service Moses & Son, in joint venture with AgRisk Management, can provide an option to assist you manage this difficult situation.

It is called a Forward Delivery Indicator Contract. (FDIC). Wool producers & wool brokers are beginning to realise the role of forward selling in their marketing program. That is, to have some wool sold forward, sell some at Auction immediately after shearing & store some if required. This type of strategy is a smart way of spreading the risk created by a volatile market. Once growers are aware of their costs of production & decide on a favourable level of return, they can become a price maker by selling some of their clip forward or leaving an order with Moses & Son to sell at a specific price. We can assist in education in futures trading, to allow you to feel confident making any risk management decisions. Growers can sell forward up to 18 months or more before shearing. Rather than hoping the market will be acceptable when you sell, work with our Wool Technical team to create a return that meets your objectives.

12

To Interlot or not to Interlot… Marketing small lines to maximize your return$ After completing a full review of Marketing options for small lines we thought it timely to outline what it actually means to interlot and why you should consider it as a marketing tool option for your smaller lines.

What is Interlotting: An interlot is a group of single and two bale lines from various growers combined to make a more appealing parcel of wool to Buyers.

Selling one bale lines: Selling one and two bale lines can be a costly exercise and one that should be carefully considered.

Our experienced Staff objectively match bale types into saleable lot sizes (avg. 7 bales).

Not only are the Sampling & Testing fees greater per bale, these lines also attact a documented “Small Line Discount” from the Buyer.

The Lot is then sampled & our Classer will determine if length and strength measurements are applied. When the lot is sold you receive the Auction price for your kilograms sold, and charged for your portion of the lot. “Moses & Son brand promise of Integrity means we process the interlots to ensure both buyer and sellers receive the best possible outcomes by constantly adjusting our processes based on the market signals.”

Below are the various marketing options for marketing a single bale line and its associated selling costs per bale. As a reference point a Standard 7 bale line costs $40.79 Method Cost Test with additional measurement $108.95 Test no additional measurement $87.35 Bulk Class (175kg) $81.00 Interlot (175kg) $59.70 *Prices at 1/08/2020

“Our interlot service is well respected amongst the Buyers for quality & consistency” 13

Why we choose to provide an Interlot Service As a Woolbroker our main priority is for the clients we service to receive the maximum return for their clip. It really is that simple. Offering a cost effective Interlotting Service ensures that growers have the option to combine their single and two bale lines into a lot size that attracts maximum buyer competition on the Auction floor. By selling your wool at Auction you can trust that you are getting the true market value. Interlotting also has the added benefit of reducing the cost of testing and sampling, as it is shared amongst the Wool Producers in the lot. This means more money stays in your pocket. If Interlotting is not your preference then you can ask for a cash price.

It all sounds good, what’s the fine print… If you would like your single or two bale line/s Tested or placed on “Hold” you must include this on the Classer Specification or tell your WTO upon delivery. Without specific instruction, Single and Two Bale lines are defaulted to the Interlot Service. One bale lines of Merino Fleece, Merino Lambs Merino Pieces, XB Fleece and XB Pieces without a stencil cannot be interlotted and will be transferred directly to Bulk Class. Fleece lines that are cast or lines that contain more than one qualifier e.g. colour and tender, tender and short, colour and broad, may not qualify for interlotting. Small fleece lines classed for superior quality should be identified as a candidate for a single bale test. So please ensure you discuss this with your WTO before delivery of the clip. Once your wool is allocated to an Interlot and sampled, it is at the discretion of the sales team and cannot be withdrawn or placed on Hold. So please ensure you discuss this with your WTO before delivery of the clip. Our Sales team will market the line in the best interest of the Growers involved in the interlot based on Market Intelligence. If this does not meet your needs please discuss this pre-delivery with your WTO Whilst we process Interlots each week, matching your interlot part is dependent on other like wool coming into store. Whilst the turnaround time is generally short, some wool types can take a bit longer to create a marketable line of wool. If it’s looking unlikely that we can match and sell your Interlot part in the short term, we will be in touch to discuss other marketing options and seek your advice on how you would like to proceed (e.g. continue to wait, Bulk Class, Private Purchase etc). If you have a couple of different types of wool allocated to the Interlot Service, they may be sold over multiple sales. After the Auction you will be emailed/faxed your Account Sale and if Sold, receive payment the following Monday week.

“The wool remains the property of the client until sold” 14

How it Works The massive variability in bloodlines can be capitalised upon by selecting the most profitable sheep in the industry for your enterprise. 1. Growers can opt to participate in the genetic comparisons, or they can source the information on their bloodline if it’s represented in trials that have already been conducted. 2. When the Grower is ready to sell their sheep, Bluechip Livestock will supply objective data to assess the expected performance of the sheep, allowing the vendor to command a premium price for this performance. 3. Contact Bluechip Livestock to access independent data on productivity and quality, and to gain the objective comparison on the sheep’s genetics on offer. On completion of the sale, Bluechip Livestock receives a marketing fee from the seller based on the price achieved.
