Your Experience Matters.
ADVENTURES. RESOURCES.OPPORTUNITIES THAT #MSIDEPROUD YOUR GOALS. YOUR FEELING.
Morningside University got its start in 1894 when our founders decided their “college in the cornfield” could become one of the greatest in the nation. For nearly 130 years, we have built a reputation we know would make them proud. Morningside grads are snapped up by employers and celebrated for the talent they bring to Siouxland and beyond. Our faculty aren’t just book smart – they are out there doing their thing, making contributions, and finding ways to make experiences part of learning. Performing arts have earned national and international recognition. Student-athletes are killing it in competition as well as in the classroom. Most importantly, there’s a genuine sense of pride among Morningsiders. That’s how we know that not only do we live up to our promise that experience matters here, but Mside really is the best side.
“ Morningside is in the perfect spot. If you are looking for the things that a city might offer, like concerts and retail, you can find them here, but there are also wide-open spaces not far from here. The campus itself reflects its location. It’s absolutely beautiful, and walking through feels like you are in a park, but it’s set in the middle of Sioux City and has a homey feel that you quickly come to love.”
“My internship at the Siouxland Community Foundation connected me with so many nonprofit organizations in our area. I was amazed to see firsthand the hard work they each do for the people in our region and appreciated the opportunity to build my network and experience.”

“ I looked at a bunch of other small private schools, but Morningside stood out to me. The awesome help we got in financial planning, the genuine connections, and the perfect fit geography-wise just made everything click for me. The community here has been everything.”
Morningside is where you want to be, but we don’t have the exact major you are looking for? Consider chatting with faculty about a possible self-designed major or active learning experiences that could help you create what you are looking for.
Embark on your academic journey with confidence through the Morningside University Peer Mentors Program! Launched in the 2024-2025 academic year, this initiative pairs every new first-time, full-time undergraduate student with an experienced upperclassman mentor. Your mentor will provide invaluable support as you connect with faculty, locate resources, and navigate university life. With tailored programming and opportunities for involvement, you’ll find it easier to engage with campus activities and develop a sense of belonging. Studies show that students with mentors enjoy higher retention and graduation rates, as well as improved academic performance. Join us at Morningside University, where success is a shared journey!
We are going to say this extra loud for the people in the back – most students don’t know what they want to major in, and even the ones who do declare a major will tell you it is far from set in stone. It really is totally normal. We also realize that you and your loved ones might be wondering how students go about figuring out the best way forward for them. That’s where the X Path comes in. We created the X Path to give students a space and place to explore while still making sure they graduate on time. You have up to four semesters to explore, job shadow, take assessments, and do other guided activities designed to help point your future in the right direction for you. What’s even better is that most X Path students find that the knowledge and skills they gain through exploring on the X Path are applicable regardless of the discipline they ultimately choose.
You matter. Your college experience matters. Morningside gives you the opportunity to make the most of that experience. We want our students and their families to know that the experience you will have at Morningside is an investment that will be well worth it. We are so sure, there are three things (listed below) that we will guarantee to any full-time, first-year student who enrolls and fulfills our requirements.
You will earn your degree in four years or less. You will gain employment or acceptance to grad school within six months of graduation. You will have active, experiential learning opportunities that will build your future.
What happens if we don’t hold up our end of the deal? We will cover the cost of an additional semester of coursework and provide support to get you on track. Check out the details at morningside.edu/xpguarantee.

We love that the two words our students most frequently use to describe Morningside are “home” and “family.” Should you choose to visit Morningside, we encourage you and your loved ones to ask the students you encounter how they would describe life here, and odds are good, that’s the answer you will get. We all do better and feel better when we are comfortable. That’s exactly what we want for you.

We hear it every day: “I can’t afford a private school.”
But what most people don’t know is that 100% of full-time undergraduate Morningside students receive financial aid—every single student, through scholarships, grants, and need-based aid. In fact, last year we provided students with more than $21 million in scholarships and grants.
At Morningside University, we know investing in your education is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. That’s why we’re committed to making your college experience accessible and affordable through Access to Mside.*
All first-time, full-time undergraduate students admitted for the 2026-2027 academic year will automatically receive a minimum award package of scholarships and grants totaling:
IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS AWARDED LAST YEAR $21 million
These amounts represent the minimum awards, made up by your academic scholarship, talent grant (if applicable), visit grant, and all additional Federal, State, and Morningside grants. Each student’s qualifications will be assessed to ensure they receive the base scholarship and grant amounts.

When you apply to Morningside, identify your talent so we can help you set up an audition that will determine your exact award amount. Talent grants are contingent upon participation. Students can receive one talent grant up to $5,000 and an additional $500 in a secondary talent. Areas include:
Agricultural Leadership
Choral Music Theatre
Art Color Guard Writing Athletics Instrumental Music
The active, experiential education you will receive at Morningside allows you to not only gain the skills required for your chosen field of study, but also the critical thinking skills required to explore the ethics of decision-making and engaged citizenship, effective communication, cultural competence, collaboration, and more.
More importantly, studies show earning a bachelor’s degree is very much worth it. A Pew Research study showed that individuals with a bachelor’s degree earned 67% more than those with only a high school degree. Additionally, those with a bachelor’s degree were less likely to be unemployed, were offered better benefits packages, and were more likely to have health insurance.
*Students must meet all qualifications found at morningside.edu/accesstomside. Not for online students. Students should complete the FAFSA for a complete award picture.
