Fall 2025 Counselors Symposium Program

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hello and welcome to Morehouse College for the 2025 Counselors Symposium.

This gathering represents an important opportunity for us to strengthen the bridges between secondary and higher education, and to equip you—the advocates and guides of tomorrow’s leaders—with the information, tools, and resources needed to open wide the doors of opportunity.

At Morehouse, we have educated and developed men of excellence, leadership, and service since 1867. As the only historically Black college dedicated exclusively to educating men, Morehouse has become a national and global beacon of intellectual rigor, character formation, and social impact. We are proud of the world-changing alumni who began their journeys here and went on to become service-oriented leaders in business, technology, government, science, entertainment, media, and the arts.

Your work as counselors and access professionals is critical. You are often first to plant the seed of possibility in the minds of young people. By equipping students with knowledge of Morehouse and other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), you expand their sense of what is possible and ensure they can make informed choices about where their gifts can be nurtured and their futures shaped. HBCUs continue to excel in producing professionals and innovators who transform communities and industries. Your awareness of HBCUs and the unique educational and social experiences that they provide is essential to offering the best pathways for your students.

I thank you for dedicating your time to join us at Morehouse and for your commitment to guiding the next generation. May the conversations and connections you experience during this symposium inspire and equip you to share the Morehouse story as well as the broader HBCU story with those who would benefit from it most. With your partnership and advocacy, we can ensure that students find not just a college, but a community that believes in and affirms their promise and prepares them to make a meaningful difference in the world.
