The “Giving Back” priority for our club is to help children, families, and the elderly in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties through service projects and financial support. Last year’s funds have been distributed to worthwhile charities, and 2025 projects are underway. We also have fun through club social interactions. We thank our local community for your support.
Service projects this year include working with the Monument Crisis Center, Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, Halloween and Holiday parties with Hope Solutions, Xenophon Therapeutic Horse Center, Moraga School District, Friends of the Moraga Library, Moraga Garden Club, and staffing the jumpys and food sales at the Town’s 4th of July Celebration and Pear and Wine Festival.
Our annual Holiday See’s Candy Fundraising store is a great opportunity to get treats locally with easy parking and short lines. We love seeing everyone in person during the holidays. We invite you to attend one of our weekly Thursday breakfast club meetings as our guest to meet our members, enjoy our stimulating speaker programs, and learn more about our projects and activities. Visit our website at www.moragakiwanis.org for details and contact us at moraga.kiwanis@gmail.com.

The New Year is close at hand, and if you think it’s time to do a bit of decluttering after the holidays, we’re happy to help! The Friends of the Moraga Library gratefully welcome:
• Your donations of gently used books, CDs, and DVDs.
• Donations may be dropped off during the library’s OPEN hours.
• Place donations only in the FOML bins located to the left, upon entering the library lobby…THANKS!
• IMPORTANT—please note that books in poor or damaged condition, reference sets or textbooks, magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, catalogs, professional journals, or VHS and cassette tapes are not accepted.
For your convenience, donation acknowledgement receipts are available at the library’s front desk.
A big THANK YOU for your past and future donations, which allow the Friends to operate an amazing bargain Book Shop and two huge Community Book Sales a year at the library. Don’t miss out on our incredibly discounted book prices…come by soon to our Book Shop, pick up some best sellers, and save loads! Also, mark your 2026 Spring calendars: FOML will hold our next Semi-Annual Book Sale on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The Friends of the Moraga Library is an allvolunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the financial support of the Moraga Library and service to our local community. The Moraga Education Foundation (MEF) funds vital programs that make our schools exceptional—from art and music to science, technology, and student wellness.
Strong local schools matter to everyone:
1. They protect property values
2. They shape responsible citizens
3. They strengthen the local economy
4. They unite the community
5. They invest in our future

Your donations to MEF directly benefit every one of the more than 3,200 students in Moraga’s public schools and make Moraga a more desirable place to live for all of us. Together, we make a difference! Visit moragaeducation.org to donate or for more information.

Good communication helps create a sense of community, of belonging, of feeling included.

That is part of the mission of Moraga Citizens Network.
Here are three tools we offer to assist you in knowing what is happening in Moraga—the where, the when, and the how YOU can feel more a part of this town.
1. The MCN Link
This bi-monthly e-bulletin links you to up-todate announcements of Moraga events like public meetings, concerts, festivals, library classes and so much more.
See a sample on our website in “Newsletter Archives” and then give it a try for a couple of months. Use the Sign Up button on the website or email ellen.beans@gmail.com
2. Website: www.MoragaCitizensNetwork.org
• Lists “Opportunities for Involvement” with contact information and description
• Holds a comprehensive calendar for most Moraga events and public meetings
• Lists Moraga’s “Parks and More” with locations and descriptions
• Describes many of Moraga’s “Annual Events”
3. Moraga’s 2026 Citizen of the Year
This annual event invites the whole community to participate in March by first sending in your nomination of a person who has made considerable contributions to our town over a period of years. Then attend the celebratory Sunday afternoon event on April 26, 2026, where the newest Citizen of the Year will be honored.

After celebrating a very successful 60th year, the Moraga Historical Society is moving on to a full year in 2026. The four 2026 newsletters will feature the numerous volunteer groups Moraga has hosted over its many years of existence. The February speaker will be Leslie Crenna fascinating her audience with stories of the early Prohibition years in Moraga. Leslie majored in Linguistics at UCSC and holds a California teaching credential from San Francisco State University. In May, our speaker will be Dr. Gerald Henig presenting “America’s Presidents: What Your History Never Told You”. Dr. Henig is emeritus professor of history at California State University, East Bay, where he has taught for 39 years.

The Lamorinda Spirit Van loves helping Moraga’s older adults stay active, independent, and connected—especially during the holidays.

For nearly 20 years, we’ve provided safe, friendly rides for seniors to medical appointments, grocery stores, social events, hair and nail salons, and lunches at Café Costa.
This holiday season, please consider making a year-end, tax-deductible donation to help your Moraga neighbors like Anastasia (81), Judy (84), and Pat (97), continue to get where they need to go. Every ride helps an older adult remain independent and engaged in our community.
To donate by check, please make it payable to City of Lafayette, write “Lamorinda Spirit” on the memo line, and mail to: Lamorinda Spirit Lafayette Community Center 500 St. Mary’s Road Lafayette, CA 94549

Our Club is celebrating its 58th year serving the community of Moraga. We support many excellent community organizations such as

MEF, Food Bank, Moraga Citizens Network, Chamber of Commerce, and Moraga schools, and participate in some international projects as well. In the 1980s, Rotary International initiated and continues to guide “Polio Plus”, the worldwide effort to eradicate polio, which is close to success. We built the All-Access Playground at the Moraga Commons, and last year, our donations helped fund the Moraga Commons picnic area improvements. We have awarded scholarships to some Campolindo seniors, we sponsor Scout Troop 246 in Moraga, six Odyssey of the Mind teams from Moraga schools, and we sponsor and advise the Interact Club at Campolindo. We continue to support the water and library project in Goma in Congo, Africa, and have completed the community center project in Sierra Leone, Africa. We have renewed the popular Field Day, a track & field meet for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in Moraga schools, and have participated in Moraga Community Service Day. We will hold two e-waste/shredding collection events again this year at the Moraga Shopping Center in our 16th year of providing this vital community service.
Moraga Rotary meets for a noon lunch at La Finestra on the 1st Tuesday of the month and again on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:00pm at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. A social/quiz hour, open to all, occurs on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm at Canyon Club.
