Splashball
Lamorinda Water Polo Staff • Ages 5–9

Designed for boys and girls, ages 5 to 9 years old, with little or no water polo experience. The players will learn the basics of the game while having loads of fun. Splashball is a no-contact program held in a shallow pool and flotation devices are allowed. Students should have basic swim skills: 25 yards free, 25 yards backstroke, 30 seconds tread water.

Skyhawks Volleyball Clinics are a fun and positive introduction to the exciting game of Volleyball. Using our age-appropriate curriculum and modified equipment, participants learn Volleyball fundamentals and social skills through a series of fast-paced instructional circuits and developmental games. Participants explore balance, body movement, coordination, self-esteem, teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development, with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun! Skyhawks Coaches create a safe and interactive setting that develops skills while building confidence. The Flag Football, co-ed clinic series is packed with fun. This is a great way to have fun learning to throw and catch, cover and run without the worry of contact! Each day players will be challenged to do their best while learning to fall in love with the game of football. Emphasis will be on proper conditioning and warm-ups, footwork drills, agility, passing, receiving, and game strategies. Featuring: Quarterback challenge, games, competitions, instruction and tons of fun! After the skills clinics, players participate in challenges and games. Jeanne Dowell, former instructor under the US Olympic committee, is a pioneer in the yoga movement within the Lamorinda area, has studied throughout the world including the Iyengar institute in India. Basic principles of the unique Iyengar system and how it applies to the aging process will be taught. She combines her experiences with Zen in her teaching, emphasizing stress reduction, strength, and relaxation.

All That’s New in San Francisco! With Craig Smith
Spend the day exploring the “All That’s New in SF” with your tour guide, Craig Smith. His knowledge and “inside” information makes this tour fun as well as factual. Get the “scoop” on the new sights of the City. Trip Highlights include: Salesforce Transit Center and Rooftop Park, an elevated park that runs the length of the Transit Center / New Mission Bay Developments / a beautiful walk through the Yerba Buena Gardens and surrounding area / visit the: Martin Luther King Fountain / Sister City Garden / Playland carousel from 1913 / walk by the Jewish Contemporary Museum & the upcoming Mexican art museum. Mid-day you will stop for a delicious, hosted lunch at Max’s Opera Café. Grab your hat and sunglasses, put on your walking shoes, and spend the day appreciating the beauty this city has to offer.

Glass Sculpting at Slow Burn Glass With Bryan Goldenberg
Learn the basics to sculpt a paperweight sized egg, bird, flower, or heart in this fast-paced workshop! Originally from St. Louis, Bryan moved to Oakland, CA and earned a BFA in glass concentration from California College of Arts & Crafts in 2002. During the course of his training, he toured the world exploring studios from Inferno Glass Studio in New Orleans, to Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, to studios in Murano, Italy. He has also worked with widely renowned glass artists such as Dante Marioni, Lino Tagliapietra, Hank Adams, and Clifford Rainey and has been called “One of the most up and coming contemporary artists of our time.” In 2006, Bryan designed and built Slow Burn Glass, a studio in Oakland, where he created his work until July 2018. Slow Burn Glass then expanded into a 5000-square-foot facility in Richmond, CA.
