Have fun volunteering this summer as a Counselor in Training (CIT) at Moraga Day Camp! Gain valuable job skills as you work alongside our Recreation Leaders in a fun and safe environment. After an interview process, accepted participants will be trained in leading camp activities, improve customer service skills, leadership, responsibility, and reliability. Recreation Department staff will provide daily guidance and supervision for CITs. Upon completion of the CIT program, participants are guaranteed an interview for the summer Recreation Leader position when they are old enough.
Requirements:
• Age 13–16 (by 6/1)
• Two weeks of volunteering during the summer (Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM)
• Mandatory orientation night 5/11
• Mandatory training with camp staff 5/31–6/22
Interview Dates: 4/17–21
Fee: If chosen to be a participant, a fee of $125 will be due by the Orientation Night. Registration for an interview time does not guarantee admission into the CIT Program.
Town After-School Enrichment Programs (TOWN ASEP): These afterschool enrichment programs will be available to students from all Moraga elementary schools and those in homeschool programs. Classes will take place at the Hacienda de las Flores located at 2100 Donald Drive unless otherwise noted.
Rheem Bus Passes: If your child attends Rheem Elementary School, bus service will be available. The Lamorinda School Bus program will be adding an additional bus stop at the Hacienda. Children with an annual bus pass will be able to use this service free of charge.
Extended Care Program: The Town will provide an optional extended care program for families in need of childcare until 5:30 PM each day. Extended care will be provided onsite at the Hacienda following dismissal from TOWN ASEP classes. Join us for homework time and fun!

This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how, and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. From tsunamis to earthquakes and avalanches to the satellites we use to learn about these forces of nature, students will use LEGO® to build working models to understand these amazing events. These engaging lessons will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day all while reinforcing the STEM and CORE concept. So come build with us! In this STEM based class, kids will work on a new clue every week to help solve the case of the stolen bike! From using microscopes and studying DNA, to lifting fingerprints and identifying different substances, students will use various science techniques to collect clues and ultimately solve the crime! Get the “scoop” on the new sights of the City. Trip Highlights include: Salesforce Transit Center and Rooftop Park, an elevated park that runs the length of the Transit Center / New Mission Bay Developments / a beautiful walk through the Yerba Buena Gardens and surrounding area / visit the: Martin Luther King Fountain / Sister City Garden / Playland carousel from 1913 / walk by the Jewish Contemporary Museum & the upcoming Mexican art museum. Learn the basics to sculpt a paperweight sized egg, bird, flower, or heart in this fast-paced workshop! Originally from St. Louis, Bryan moved to Oakland, CA and earned a BFA in glass concentration from California College of Arts & Crafts in 2002. During the course of his training, he toured the world exploring studios from Inferno Glass Studio in New Orleans, to Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, to studios in Murano, Italy. He has also worked with widely renowned glass artists such as Dante Marioni, Lino Tagliapietra, Hank Adams, and Clifford Rainey and has been called “One of the most up and coming contemporary artists of our time.” In 2006, Bryan designed and built Slow Burn Glass, a studio in Oakland, where he created his work until July 2018. Slow Burn Glass then expanded into a 5000-square-foot facility in Richmond, CA.

There is an abundance of history in the Moraga Valley! Be a part of the Town’s history by joining the Moraga Historical Society. The History Center is located at 1500 St. Mary’s Road (on the right side of the Moraga Library). There you can find a treasure trove of information regarding the Town’s beginnings including photos, family histories, artifacts, and documents of historical events. Annual dues are $10 student, $15 single adult, $25 family.

The Friends of the Moraga Library is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the financial support of the Moraga Library and service to the local community. Money raised through membership and book sales is used to support library programs and the purchase of books, periodicals, DVDs and CDs.

Bring everyone out for this workshop, including the kids! Composting with worms is easy and fun, and something everyone can do. Do you live in a condo or townhome? Vermicomposting is perfect for small spaces! $25/bin registration fee.
