If you asked most people why they moved to Moraga, they’d say “for the schools.”
But did you know that Moraga’s schools are among the LOWEST-FUNDED in California and that state funding only provides enough for the basics?
For almost 45 years, the Moraga community has shown its commitment to high-quality public education by supporting the Moraga Education Foundation (MEF).
Make your contribution today to ensure that today’s students receive more than just the basics and that Moraga schools continue to be a point of pride for our community!

What we support each year:
• Summer Concerts (look for the 2025 Schedule in this guide)
• Pear Harvest Pear & Wine Festival
• Hacienda Nights Movies Under the Stars
• Summer Camp scholarships
Additionally, we and ASEP provide financial support for Town and Community projects such as:

The Future
MPF is looking for board and committee members as we focus on expanding our financial support for targeted projects that enhance our parks. When most people think of their local fire district emergency services, they probably picture fire engines and ambulances. The men and women of the Moraga Orinda Fire District, however, have a wide array of skills beyond medical issues and firefighting. One of those skills recently used is rescuing people trapped in steep terrain. The Rescue 1 Foundation is proud to have provided equipment and training for our first responders so they can quickly and effectively rescue someone in need. Through donations from community members like you, the Rescue 1 Foundation recently purchased new-and-improved roping harnesses for existing equipment and provided funds for the training needed to execute these rescues in canyons and steep embankments. This makes rescues faster and easier!
Come by our table at the MOFD Open House at Station 41 on Saturday, October 4, to see equipment we have purchased with community donations!
We encourage Lamorinda residents to attend the Fall series of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) classes beginning September 11, 2026 at the Orinda Community Center. This class series covers important topics such as disaster preparedness, emergency medical aid, GMRS radio use, fire extinguisher use, cribbing and light search and rescue. No experience is necessary, and the material taught could be life saving should a disaster occur in our area. Classes are held on Thursday nights from 6:30 – 9:30pm and run from 9/11–11/6. To register for this class series go to classes.lamorindacert.org.
Our Club is celebrating it’s 58th year serving the community of Moraga. We support many excellent community organizations such as MEF, Food Bank, Moraga Citizens Network, Chamber of Commerce, and Moraga schools, and participate in some international projects as well. In the 1980s, Rotary International initiated and continues to guide “Polio Plus”, the worldwide effort to eradicate
polio, which is close to success. We built the All-Access Playground at the Moraga Commons, and last year, our donations helped fund the Moraga Commons picnic area improvements. We have awarded scholarships to some Campolindo seniors, and we sponsor Scout Troop 246 in Moraga and six Odyssey of the Mind teams from Moraga schools, and we sponsor and advise the Interact Club at Campolindo. We continue to support the water and library project in Goma in Congo, Africa, and have completed the community center project in Sierra Leone, Africa. We have renewed the popular Field Day, a track & field meet for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in Moraga schools, and have participated in Moraga Community Service Day. We will hold two e-waste/shredding collection events again this year at the Moraga Shopping Center in our 16th year of providing this vital community service.
Moraga Rotary meets for lunch most Tuesdays at La Finestra restaurant. For membership questions or further information, check out moragarotary.org or call 925-376-5137.
