Continuing excellence in international business with No. 1 rankings by U.S. News & World Report, we also sustained a No. 3 Gartner ranking for the undergraduate supply chain program and climbed to a No. 5 Gartner ranking for the graduate supply chain program. Academic Spotlight OPERATIONS AND SUPPLY CHAIN PROGRAMS
2023-24 was a banner year for the Management Science department Accomplishments include:
TOP PRIZE:
The department was awarded the industry-renowned UPS George D. Smith Prize from INFORMS, the largest professional association for the decision and data sciences.
RANKINGS:
The undergraduate operations and supply chain program sustained their No. 3 ranking in North America, according to global research firm Gartner. The graduate program climbs one spot to No. 5 from the last biennial Gartner ranking in 2022. This marks the first Top 5 ranking for the graduate program.
The undergraduate program was ranked No. 13, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The MBA program was ranked No. 16 among all supply chain/logistics programs, also according to U.S. News & World Report. A new category of Best Production-Operations MBA Programs also earned the Moore School a No. 22 spot.

REPUTABLE COMPANIES:
To earn their accolades, each semester, the Management Science faculty lead senior student groups that develop capstone consulting projects with Operations and Supply Chain Center partner organizations, including Boeing, Coca-Cola Bottling, Continental Tire, Michelin, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Siemens, Sonoco and Trane
REAL-WORLD CAPSTONE EXPERIENCE:
The student teams explore how the partners can optimize their supply chain networks, remove waste and procedural inefficiencies, and implement new process strategies, ultimately presenting their findings to company executives. Since the projects began in 2008, the student groups have yielded more than $330 million in collective recurring cost savings for partners across 360 projects.
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION:
Moore School operations and supply chain students also compete to earn an industry-validated Sonoco-USC Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, which gives students advanced problem-solving skills and the statistical tools needed to effectively lead process-improvement projects. More than 1,300 undergraduate and more than 300 graduate students from the university have earned this unique certification through the program.

These strengths have enabled the operations and supply chain program to place well-trained talent with leading employers. CENTER FOR SALES SUCCESS
The Center for Sales Success had a standout year in 2023-24, advancing its mission to equip graduates with exceptional professional-selling skills, industryrelevant certifications and confidence in their ability to launch successful careers with top companies.
Key accomplishments include:
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS: The center continued to forge valuable partnerships with leading companies to enhance student learning and career readiness. These include:
• SC Quantum: Developed a cuttingedge Prospecting Playbook, focusing on technology-based selling skills, proving the hypothesis that non-technical students can become proficient in high-tech prospecting based on research and insights.
• Nucor & Dexian: Organized on-campus sales competitions, providing students with the chance to apply real-world selling scenarios and showcase their skills in a competitive environment where corporate leaders are the judges of performance.
STUDENT IMPACT: The center’s programs continue to transform students, setting them apart in the competitive job market. USC students graduate with superior professional-selling skills and enhanced confidence, making them highly sought after by employers. Students benefit from ongoing interaction with industry professionals, refining their skills through real-world experiences.
EMPLOYER IMPACT: Companies consistently report that USC students stand out for their maturity, adaptability and resilience. Through repeated engagement in classes, sales competitions and internships, students develop not only technical sales expertise but also the ability to internalize feedback and grow as professionals, making them valuable assets to employers.
PARTNER IMPACT: The center hosts a series of events throughout the year that foster meaningful connections between students and potential employers:
• SalesFEST: A trade-show environment where partners engage directly with students in sales classes.
• Sales Career EXPO: A “speed-dating” style networking event that allows companies to interact with students in small, focused groups.
COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS: The center’s students excelled in numerous competitions, demonstrating their sales prowess:
• November 2023: International Collegiate Sales Competition where the team won eighth place out of 80 universities from across the country and with several international schools.
• February 2024: University of South Florida Muma College of Business Selling with the Bulls where the team won Top Bull for an outsanding performance by Logan Cory, ‘25 marketing, across six events; the overall team competed against 36 universities.
CAREER IMPACT: The center ensures that students are fully prepared for successful careers in sales. Through continuous development of essential skills, networking opportunities with leading companies and exposure to real-world sales scenarios, students graduate with a solid foundation and a competitive edge in the job market. The center’s programs foster proficiency in communication, negotiation and leadership, helping students excel in their careers from day one.

The Moore School established the South Carolina Economic Policy Center (EPiC) to bridge the gap between academic research and policy evaluation and development. For years, the Department of Economics has produced high-quality research on education, health care, public finance and labor economics — research that provides valuable evidence to help policymakers understand the economic tradeoffs they face.
SUSTAINABILITY CENTER
The Center for Sustainable Growth is a hub for scholarship and objective research, linking the business community and university on sustainability topics, identifying opportunities for competitive advantage and advancing problem-focused thought leadership.
