What is ForCan ?
ForCan creates and implement projects of tiny house resort communities in the South European region. It brings together two needs of the European market: the need towards more sustainable ways of living and the need to contribute to implement sustainable solutions for the development of abandoned agricultural regions of Southern Europe, due to the inefficiencies of the current systems that promote mass consumption.
The need for sustainable living:
There is a current shift in consciousness that leads humanity towards ways of living that are more alligned with nature instead of the current systems that promote self centered mindsets, individualism, and mass consumption that further disconnect us from our true self and nature.
Sustainable living involves making choices that reduce our environmental impact, promote social wellbeing and ensure economic viability for future generations. It encompasses actions like reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, supporting local communities and using resources efficiently.

The challenges of sustainable development of rural areas in Southern
Europe
• Abandoned rural land (80% at Gran Canaria)
• Underdeveloped rural areas versus over-urbanised cities and tourist areas
• Unsufficient ability to protect nature and local culture
• Lack of workers
• Lack of affordable housing for local people versus holiday renting
• Lack of an economic model for small scale ecological farming and it’s development
• Various social problems: lack of childcare, lack of oportunities for the youth, traditional agricultural skills and traditions are not passed on to future generations, rural poverty.
