GRIZ LIFE Student-Athlete Development Newsletter; Volume I, Issue IV
The 2014 Fall semester was full of activities and events for the Griz Student-Athletes, who continue to impress the athletic department staff, the University of Montana, and the surrounding communities. They totaled 1,110 hours of service in a four-month period, which puts them 100 hours ahead of the 2013 Fall semester. With record breaking numbers last year it is inevitable that this Spring the Griz Student-Athletes should have no problem continuing that tradition. To complete the Fall semester, the freshmen football players joined the residents of Grizzly Peak Retirement for an afternoon of fun and games, the women’s soccer team joined forces with the Poverello Center, as did the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Already on the docket for the Spring semester:
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Grizzly Dip for Special Olympics
Student of the Month at CS Porter Middle School
Women’s Golf at Habitat for Humanity
February 2015
“...The athletes, accompanied by Monte, came to recognize our fifth-grade students of the month. Not only did they inspire and excite our students, but they did a great job of impressing upon them the importance of education, daily attendance and good citizenship. Thanks, UM, for making our students’ day!” -Cindy Christensen, Principal Russel Elementary School
