A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Gwynn Simeniuk W
hat is your favorite FFA memory? I’m sure flashbacks to State FFA Conventions come to mind. No doubt, there are countless stories of the surprises and unexpected challenges in our Supervised Agricultural Experiences. Hopefully, you’ve had a chance to see the positive impact of FFA members committed to giving back to their communities through our Helping Hands projects. A lot of us probably remember the first time we put on our very own blue corduroy jacket. Maybe, you’ve had an especially proud moment in witnessing your child receive their jacket and carrying on the tradition of FFA in your family.
Whatever it may be about FFA that makes you proud to support our students, we want to thank you for making these experiences possible for the next generation of leaders. We are so grateful for your commitment to agricultural education for over 5,000 FFA members and their advisors by growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Without your contributions, we could not effectively serve our students. In the past year, we have continued to expand our focus on STEM education and entrepreneurship through our Supervised Agricultural Experience grants for students as well as Emerge Education instructional grants for teachers. Investing in these hands-on experiences are crucial in developing a skilled workforce by encouraging students to start their own small businesses and providing resources in our agricultural education classrooms to augment their learning. What FFA members will accomplish in the future are made possible by your support. Our organization is truly providing an incredible return for your investment by turning out the next generation of leaders armed with the skills needed to tackle the challenges our world will face. Sincerely,
Gwynn Simeniuk EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MONTANA FFA FOUNDATION

HELPING HANDS Community Service Grant F
FA chapters across Montana can apply for Helping Hands grant funding to coordinate
community service projects in their local communities and can collectively support thousands of Montanans through various activities. In 2019 alone, the Montana FFA Foundation
distributed
$4,250

different FFA chapters in the state to assist chapters in serving their local communities. In 2019, the Fairview FFA chapter started a

program
called
Lettuce Eat, a food program to provide lunches to students in need over the summer. Their chapter noted that 18.8% of students in Montana live with food insecurity and for many, school lunches are students’ only stable meal during the week. To help with this problem, Fairview FFA member Becca Deming stepped up to provide free summer meals for students in her community. Becca worked full-time
