At Home with Montalvo Halloween Special: Ghosts In this step-by-step guide, we will create a minimal design of friendly ghosts using the concepts of positive and negative space.

Step 1: Supplies regular or construction paper: black and white, pencil, scissors, ruler, glue (alternative: tape)

Step 2: Cut Out Square using your black paper, ruler, and pencil, measure and cut out a 4x4 square.

Step 3: Glue Square taking your white paper, paste your black square in the middle of the page.

Step 4: Draw Ghosts using a sheet of white paper, draw out four ghost designs. once finished, cut them out.

Step 5: Outline and Cut Edges place your ghosts on the corners of the black square and draw a line that edges out of the frame. as you cut off the line, make sure to save it for the next step.

Step 6: Glue Down taking the positive parts of the ghosts, gently paste them down.

Step 7: Outline using the leftover sheet of black paper, take the cut white parts of the ghosts and gently trace the outlines. afterward, cut out the shapes.

Step 8: Glue Down take the black shapes and paste them back to their original corner.

Step 9: Fill In consider a variety of halloween-inspired patterns to fill within the inner white space.
