Moss Side Pocket Community
Moss Side Pocket Community is a concept that addresses affordable housing in Athens, GA. This concept is different from traditional neighborhood development because it provides more housing units per acre, centralized and shared greenspaces, amenities, and on-street parking. It is more appealing to buyers with ranging incomes.
The lots shown on the graphic are zoned for RS-2.5 and RS-5 in efforts to vary cost. Each pocket ‘pod’ features nine house and a shared greenspace. The neighborhood features a connected trail system and sidewalk system, tennis courts, a pool and places for gathering.

Athens Greenway Connection
My team and I were tasked with studying the Athens Greenway Network to identify potential areas for connection or expansion. We noticed a potential to connect the greenway near the Classic Center in Athens, GA. This is a popular location for student housing and commercial offices. It is close to the city and would connect the southern network of the greenway to the northern network. This would provide direct access to the UGA campus and Downtown.
Regional Analysis
My group and I looked at the zoning around the site to guage the population density and needs of the adjacent community. The white is government owned property, the red is commercial land use and blue is residential.
Understanding the mobility and accessibility of the Athens Greenway network was crucial to making connection proposals. Our goal was to identify necessary separations in the network to join existing pathways.
Researching the comfort of Pedestian and Bicycle transportation in the area was important to understand if our greenway connection would be used adequately in the future. This would make the fiscal investment feasible or not. We concluded the level of comfort in the area was medium comfort.

Collage Art Graphic
This graphic was rendered in photoshop, with some elements pulled in from Illustrator. Practicing with layer masks, layer organization, pattern creation and wands was the goal of this perspective.
Duotone Section Graphic
This graphic was rendered in Photoshop with the model being pulled in from SketchUp. Using an extension from SketchUp’s Extension Warehouse, I was able to export individual images containing shadows, linework and materials into Photoshop. From there I practiced with layer masking and wanding.
Mario Schjetnan Plaza
I was tasked with designing a plaza after a famous Landscape Architect, in this case, it was Mario Schjetnan. Mario’s design philosophy is to connect humans to nature using modernism, cultural traditon and nature. The plaza design features modern architecture and colors with lush vegetation and water features. Pictured on the right of the image is a marble fountain, commemorating Mario’s career in the field.
