Pakopa Piece was commissioned by DAR (Druskininkai Artists Residence, Lithuania) and Sound and Music (UK) for Choir Brevis. The first version of the score was premiered by Choir Brevis directed by Gintautas Venislovas on 25th July 2015 at Šv. Jonų bažnyčia, Vilnius.

This is the revised version (2022) of the score

Duration is 12-15 minutes.

Step by step, step by step, step by step we’re climbing up

(Lithuanian tongue twister)

[* ’a’ as in apple | ‘o’ as in off (except for ‘po’ as in Poe) | ‘pia’ = one (crushed) syllable | š = sh.]

‘Unvoiced’ = sounds produced by the mouth and not with the assistance of breath.

In a more reverberant spaces the designated tempi may, of course, be amended.
