Mrs. Creola Blakney Ezell was born on July 4, 1942 in Chesterfield County, SC. She confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and joined Timmonsville Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Croghan, SC and later joined the Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church after relocating to Charlotte, NC.
She attended the Mecklenburg County School System and was a 1960 graduate of West Charlotte High School. She worked for many years as a housekeeper until her health started to decline.
Creola Blakney was united in holy matrimony with Robert Lewis Ezell in York County, SC. Their union was blessed with six children. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Creola Blakney Ezell transitioned into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Robert L. Ezell; two children: Gertrude Blakeney and Timothy Ezell; eight brothers: John Blakeney, Jr., James Edward Blakeney, John Blakeney, George Burch, Lane Burch, Leak Burch, Clay Willie Burch; three sisters: Sarah Anne Burch, Patricia Ann Burch, and Flora Bell Burch Allen; her mother, Minister Jessie Sellers Burch; one bonus daughter, Brenda Hudson; and one God-sister, Verona Mae Smith Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children: Christine H. Massey (Pastor Reginald Massey), Jermiah Ezell (Wanda), Dinah Ezell, and Samuel Lewis Ezell all of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren: Qiana Hailey (Ricky Osbourne), Adrianna McCree, Lavares Hood, Chrystal Ezell, Michael Wembi, and Darnell Early all of Charlotte, NC; 12 great-grandchildren; two bonus grands: Briana Meta and Angelicia Hudson both of Charlotte, NC; two siblings: Minister Wilma Lee Rorie of Mount Croghan, SC and William H. Burch (Andra) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of family and friends in whom she was like a mother.
Thank you, Mother, for all that you have done. You took great care of your family. You loved us all from the very start With your warm, kind, and loving heart. Thank you, Mother, for being strong, While trying to teach us right from wrong. If anytime we had a problem, You were there to help us solve them. You'd lift us up when we were feeling blue.
Thank you, Mother, for we could always count on you. You were such an awesome mother. The love you showed was like no other. Thank you, Mother for your dear, sweet love, your prayers, and your wisdom Now you'll watch over us from heaven above.
