In recent years, governments have introduced legislation to lead us to a more moral society where animals are effectively protected from humans. Unfortunately, we may still notice the need to eliminate incomprehensible behaviours which cause unnecessary suffering to sentient creatures. In fact, I am convinced that we should definitely abolish cruel activities where animals are treated as entertainment.

Firstly, it is a well-known fact that animals have feelings and emotions. An example of this is that many experts have demonstrated that mammals can experience joy, grief and distress as people do.

Secondly, there is widespread agreement that we are not allowed to hurt them and, in particular, animal abuse is severely punished.

Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in the number of organizations and activists concerned about the urge to defend animal rights.

In contrast, there are people who claim that some traditional performances, such as bullfighting and hunting, are part of our culture.

Nonetheless, they care very little about the inhumane cruelty towards the animal.

To conclude, it is my firm belief that we ought to continue making an effort to guarantee animal welfare. Needless to say that under no circumstances should we consider that we are superior.

How do you feel when you witness an animal suffer as a part of a show?

If you find it awful and are completely against it, then we are on the same page.

Firstly, I firmly believe that we should take into consideration the fact that animals are as sensitive as humans. Therefore, treating them as puppets is painful for them, so we should avoid it.

Secondly, many animals, generally in circuses, are forced to perform silly tricks under the threat of physical punishment, which is unethical.

Accordingly, in order for them to be on the stage pleasing the audience, they have been kept in captivity separated from their families. Cruelty is the only word that comes to my mind.

On the contrary, it can be argued that many families make a living out of these activities and depend on these animals’ abilities. They claim that their living conditions are optimal, apart from the fact that they are cared for and safe.

All things considered, I strongly believe that leisure should be approached from a different angle in which respecting animals was a vital point. These activities that abuse animals for the sake of human entertainment should be banned for good.

Animals have been used as a source of entertainment for thousands of years, nevertheless, does it mean we should continue forcing them to live like this just to maintain our ancient culture as well as for our own entertainment or yet should it be declared illegal? I firmly believe that animal abuse in leisure activities has to end.

To begin with, all sorts of "blood sports" such as hunting or bullfighting boils down to sacrificing other animals just for pleasure. People may assure that the purpose of hunting is for food or because of pests.

However, in modern society this is not a necessity. You can buy meat from a place where animals have been killed humanely. In addition, the idea that there is a fair fight between the bull and the bullfighter makes me laugh my head off. The bull dies at the end of every single bullfight and there is no heroism in the way it is tortured.

Another factor to consider is that all kinds of activities which involve animal mistreating result from the need to earn money. Moreover, the slaughtering of innocent living beings is totally justified.

In contrast, circuses, zoos or aquatic theme parks are places where children first learn to love animals not to mention the fact that there is evidence that animals enjoy performing and interacting with the spectators and may have close relationships with their coaches.

Luckily, the correct application of the animal protection law in these places is always closely controlled.

All things considered, it is my firm belief, whatever others may argue, that all forms of sports and entertainment which involve animals should be banned. Animals, like us, can feel fear and pain. Having control over other species brings also the humans the responsibility not to abuse that power.
