Modern Door Furniture The Door Furniture section comprises of items that generally fit on the face of the door allowing the door to be opened and locked. It consists of the following generic products: Lever handles Pull Handles Escutcheons Bathroom Turn and Releases Miscellaneous items such as cylinder pulls, flush pulls etc We have divided the section as follows: stainless steel, aluminium, coloured and residential. HAF and FUSION are our premium quality door furniture ranges made only of solid section material. Tubular lever handles in our contract stainless steel range are generally hollow. HAF is predominantly used in hotel, high-end residential and design-led commercial projects. Comprising of only solid product, it is primarily made of stainless steel Grade 304 with some variations in solid bronze. Its variety of stylish designs, a broad range of finishes and some innovative rose designs make it the range of choice for many interior designers and clients. Fusion is tailored for the quality commercial market. Its clean and simple lines, solid construction and durable fixing methods make it the perfect choice for guaranteed performance for years to come.

Sizes: All sizes are approximate and we reverse the right to change them where necessary and without notice.

• Stainless Steel Grade 316 • Most applied finishes on a solid brass base (chrome, nickel, etc) • ‘Stainless’ brass, a brass coloured durable coating on a stainless steel base now common on ‘traditional’ residential levers.

Note - many solid brass products are lacquered. Whilst lacquer delays tarnishing it will eventually break down and require removal and subsequent polishing. It can be preferable to take unlaquered brass and accept that it will require cleaning. Alternatively the tarnished look can make the product look more authentic and in keeping with its environment.

Specification Notes Springs in Handles: The Fusion range of handles are mainly solid in construction and primarily offered on an unsprung rose as standard to suit the commercial lock range. The references shown where applicable are referring to the unsprung rose, however most are available on a sprung rose as well.

Under no circumstances use abrasive cleaners or solvents on Stainless Steel or Brass as they can damage the surface of the hardware. In the case of brass, this will weaken the lacquer, causing it to wear quicker."

Grade 316 Stainless Steel: Where noted within this catalogue, our Fusion range is made from Grade 316 stainless steel. This grade has enhanced corrosion resisting qualities over that of Grade 304, which is the other main form of stainless steel used in production of ironmongery. Grade 316 is often referred to as “marine grade” stainless due to this increased resistance to chloride corrosion compared to Grade 304, making it a very suitable material for use in salt water or swimming pool environments in particular.

• Stainless Steel Grade 316

25 Year guarantee: We offer a guarantee that all material will be free from manufacturing defects on our products where applicable and noted, in the event of such material being found defective then this will be put right at our expense. The guarantee will remain in force for a period of twenty-five years and does not cover normal wear and tear and will not exceed the scope of relevant British Standards. All items manufactured in either solid or tube stainless steel bear the same quality and are ideally suited to heavy duty locations where the integrity of the material is a critical factor. BS EN 1906: Some of the Fusion range of levers (A0019/A0119/A0719/A6100) have been tested and conform to BS EN 1906. The majority of these having corrosion resistance of Grade 4 as well as a Grade 4 rating for Category Of Use. Documentary evidence can be provided upon request. All tube or solid brass items are stove lacquered (unless otherwise requested/stated). As lacquer is an applied finish, we are not able to offer any guarantees and over time, as with all applied finishes, this will wear/age depending on usage. The high quality finishes produced in the Fusion range requires little or no maintenance provided they have been fitted correctly. Like most surfaces they will become marked when handled, they can be easily cleaned with a little soapy water and a damp cloth.

Finishes: Not all products are suitable for external use and the combination of base material and surface finish are important factors. In general all finishes tarnish eventually, however some are better than others. For harsh environments we recommend: • Most applied finishes on a solid brass base (chrome, nickel, etc) • ‘Stainless’ brass, a brass coloured durable coating on a stainless steel base now common on ‘traditional’ residential levers. • Powder Coated finishes on steel such as our coloured range ‘Hewi’ or the residential Black Antique range Note - many solid brass products are lacquered. Whilst lacquer delays tarnishing it will eventually break down and require removal and subsequent polishing. It can be preferable to take unlaquered brass and accept that it will require cleaning. Alternatively the tarnished look can make the product look more authentic and in keeping with its environment. Sizes: All sizes are approximate and we reserve the right to change them where necessary and without notice. Specification Notes Springs in Handles: Levers may be unsprung, sprung or ‘spring-assist’. Whilst there are pros and cons to each type, the main issue is that the latch or lock with which it is to work is suitable for the application. Whilst a heavy sprung handle/lock combination may be appropriate for an office, it may not suit the residents of an elderly persons residential home for instance. We are happy to advise on this and will provide a specification to avoid incompatibilities. There are many different types of hinges including butt, security, flush, concealed, rising, piano and tee. NUMBER OF TEST CYCLES: When deciding on finish and the best hinge for each application take into account; appearance to match both the environment and product; position of doors or windows within building and direction of opening; type of building use e.g. hospital and its location, coastal situation; frequency of use; (see tables A&B) security and fire resistance requirements. TESTING – refer to Table A There are three categories identified for hinges manufactured to this standard. Grade 3: 10,000 test cycles. Grade 4: 25,000 test cycles. Grade 7: 200,000 test cycles TEST DOOR MASS: Eight test door mass grades are identified according to table 1 of the BS EN1935: 2002 standard.

Grade 1: Light duty. Example: Domestic or office situation, areas with no access to general public.

FIRE BEHAVIOUR: Two grades of fire behaviour are identified for hinges manufactured to this standard.

Grade 2: Medium duty. Example: Domestic and office situation where limited access is allowed to the general public.

Grade 0: Not Suitable for use on fire resistant and / or smoke control door assemblies

Grade 3: Heavy duty. Example: Public and institutional buildings such as libraries, hospitals and schools.

Grade 1: Suitable for use on fire / smoke resistant door assemblies subject to satisfactory assessment of the contribution of the hinges to the fire resistance of the specified fire / door assemblies.

Grade 4: Severe duty.

Two grades of security are identified for hinges manufactured to this European Standard:

CORROSION RESISTANCE: Five grades of corrosion resistance are identified according to BS EN1670: Grade 0: No defined corrosion resistance to Grade 4: Very high resistance.

Grade 1: Suitable for use on burglar resistant door assemblies, subject to satisfactory further assessments

Grade 0: Not suitable for use on burglar –resistant door assemblies;

HINGE GRADE: Fourteen grades of hinge are identified in this European Standard as detailed in Table A.

CE MARKING

HINGE INSTALLATION:

The standard requires that single axis hinges manufactured in accordance with this standard for use on fire-resistant and or/smoke control doors or locked doors on escape routes, shall be marked as follows:

Hinges should be installed in accordance with the door manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions. Where no such instructions are available care must be taken to ensure that the hinges are correctly aligned and fixed securely to door and frame. The screw holes should be piloted and screwheads must be flush with the hinge face to ensure that the door closes properly.

HINGE POSITIONING: FIRE RATED HINGES

It is usually acceptable to line up the centre hinge with the door handle. Equally spaced hinges will minimise warping which may occur in environments with extremes of temperature or humidity on either side of the door, Fig.1, a and b.

Hinges supplied for use on fire and escape door sets should be supplied and fitted complete with intumescent pads, which must be fitted behind each hinge flap, between the timber door and frame and the metal hinge leaves.

Unequally spaced hinges Fig.1, c and d, improve load bearing. This is recommended where the hinges are operating near their load bearing maximum or where door closers, particularly back check door closers, are in operation and the door has a high frequency of use.

Normally three hinges are fitted to each door leaf in accordance with BS 4787 part 1. For doors exceeding 2100mm in height a fourth hinge should be used.

Specification Notes LIFT-OFF AND RISING/FALLING HINGES: Lift-off, rising and falling hinges are handed and must be specified to operate in either a clockwise closing or an anti-clockwise closing direction. The leaf with the pin in the upwards position must be fitted to the frame. Hinge operation is either clockwise closing or anti-clockwise closing and should be specified using the ISO 5 clockwise closing and ISO 6 anti-clockwise closing convention.

Door Controls Together with hinges, the door closer is an important component required to make sure that the door operates efficiently, requiring minimal opening effort without obstruction to the operator and maintaining the doorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s position in the event of a fire. Therefore the correct selection of a door closer for its situation is vital. There are many different types of door closers intended for different scenarios, including face fixing, concealed fixing, door mounted, transom mounted, underfloor fixing as well as automatic or electro-magnetically operated. Door closers can be used for a variety of reasons with the most important being to close a barrier in the event of a fire to help contain it within an area enabling people to escape. But they also have their use where security is important, when privacy is required or simply for convenience to make sure the door closes properly. When deciding on the most suitable closer for each application, consideration should be given to mounting position (i.e. pull or push side), application (i.e. what type of door its being used on and what usage it will get) and aesthetics.

Specification Notes / Terminology Latch Action: From approximately 20 - 0 degrees the door closer speeds up to help overcome any resistance to the door closing fully, for example, a latch bolt or door intumescent strips/seals. Speed Valve: Controls the speed at which the door will close prior to the latch action point. Backcheck: A valve adjustment within the door closer unit which slows the door whilst opening to prevent damage to the door and hinges. Is generally adjustable from approximately 70 degrees upwards.

Swing Free: A free swing door closer enables a door to operate without any resistance, just like a door without a door closer. This allows the door to be left in any position, such as ajar if preferred, until on activation of the fire alarm the electromagnetic control releases enabling the door closer to close the door. A free swing door closer ensures that it will, when required, perform the job it is designed to do and close the door positively to prevent the spread of smoke and flames. Free swing is a popular solution for individual rooms within hospitals, nursing homes or residential care situations.

Delayed Action: A valve adjustment within the door closer unit which delays closing of the door for a pre-determined time to allow free un-restricted passage through the door way. Generally used in schools, hospitals and with the elderly.

Finishes: Standard finishes are available on most of the door controls contained in this section. Hold Open: An arm or valve adjustment which holds the door open until the door is pulled to close.

FIRE REGULATIONS

Electromagnetic: As Hold Open but using an electromagnet wired into the fire alarm circuit. Generally used on fire doors where free passage is required during every day usage. Can be specified as Hold Open or Free Swinging. Spring Strength: The power exerted by the door closer.

BS EN 1154 CONTROLLED DOOR CLOSING DEVICES This gives the minimum performance levels for door closing devices, in relation to door width and mass. It also classifies closers for general suitability for use on fire doors, safety in use, and corrosion resistance. Closers must complete 500,000 opening and closing cycles without loss of performance or significant wear. The standard requires that closers fitted to fire doors be no less than size EN 3. Adjustable closers must be able to achieve this as a minimum.

BUILDING REGULATIONS Approved Document B in England and Wales, (Section 2 in Scotland and Part S in Northern Ireland) requires Third Party Fire Test Certificate (such as CERTIFIRE) to ensure that they are fit for purpose.

CERTIFIRE CERTIFIRE is a third party certification authority originally set up by Warrington Fire Research and BSI. It specialises in certification for a wide range of passive fire protection products which includes fire doors and their hardware. To gain CERTIFIRE approval for use on a fire door:

shows the opening and closing forces throughout the opening and closing cycle in Nm from initial opening through and beyond 60° of opening. They allow calculation of tolerances the door closer will allow for resistance from other fitted items, such as door seals and hinges, as well as site conditions. High quality accompanying ironmongery such as hinges, latches and intumescent seals should be selected in order to keep the resistance added to the door set to a minimum. BS EN 1935 details the maximum allowable resistance provided by hinges, however no such standard currently exists for door seals. This torque graph shows the results from an independent test for our DM4020 high efficiency closer, demonstrating how the opening angle starts at less than 30N and rapidly falls away to less than 22.5N for the remainder of the opening cycle. This measurement was taken at power setting EN 3, the minimum requirement for fire doors as detailed in BS EN 1154. For non-fire resisting doors the closer can be set to a lower power setting and therefore the opening forces will be even lower.

EQUALITY ACT 2010 Previously known as the Disability Discrimination Act, it has introduced a duty upon service providers to remove the physical barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing a service. The Special Education Needs & Disability Act (SENDA) details this requirement for schools and educational institutions. The specific performance of door closers in meeting this requirement is detailed within the Building Regulations: BS8300: 2009 and Approved Document M (ADM) in England and Wales, Section 3 in Scotland and Part R in Northern Ireland. These state that: “...a door closer must produce an opening force of below 30N between 0° and 30° degrees and below 22.5N between 30° and 60° degrees of the opening cycle” It is important to remember that when the Disability Discrimination Act was first brought out, it was only for civil rights legislation and does not set out specific requirements or guidance in the design of buildings. As such it is therefore not appropriate to attach any notion of conformity to products, such as “The Equality Act 2010 (formerly The DDA) compliant” or “Conforms to The Equality Act 2010 (formerly the DDA) requirements”. The legislation came into force on 1st October 2004. Any new building or alterations to existing buildings, in order to satisfy obligations under The Equality Act 2010 (formerly The DDA) must comply (in England & Wales) with The Building Regulations and in particular, the 2004 edition of Approved Document M, ADM which became effective in May 2004. Where certain issues are not covered in ADM, further reference will be made to BS 8300.

Definition of Cylinder Functions Clutch Cylinder This allows the door to be unlocked even if the thumbturn is being held in the locked position on the inside. This makes it ideal for use in schools or secure hospitals for example where there is a risk that an individual may block access to an area. Classroom Cylinder The classroom function is a variation on the clutch cylinder with the added feature that the turn can only ‘unlock’ the door. This is typically used in schools to prevent mischief by students locking doors. Construction Cylinder A construction cylinder will allow the contractor full access during the construction period with their own construction key. Once the masterkeys are inserted and rotated in the cylinders for the first time (at the point of hand-over), a mechanism inside the cylinder is activated and the construction keys become barred from the system. BS EN 1303:2005 Cylinders for Locks BS EN 1303 classifies cylinders for locks using an 8 digit coding system. Features tested include durability, fire resistance, key related security and attack resistance.

Snap Protection Lock snapping is a common method used by burglars to break into property that has a euro cylinder in its lock. The method of lock snapping involves breaking the cylinder to then manipulate the lock to unlock and open the door. The snap protection feature is such that when the end of the cylinder is attacked, just the tip snaps off leaving more metal in front of the central target area leaving the door still secure. Anti-manipulation (anti-bump) Bumping is a process of making the pins within a cylinder ‘jump’ above the shear line enabling access to be gained through a lock. This is done by a special key that is made with many ridges all of the same short length. When these are forced into the cylinder and turned almost instantly after, the lock quite often opens. There is no damage, no sign of a break-in and can be done in seconds. Anti-bump locks work by having more pins and specially made keys, having shallow pin stacks to prevent them ‘jumping’ up or locks that have programmable side bars and no top pins. Locks that use rotating disks also protect against bumping, keeping your door securely shut.

Digit 3 - Door mass and closing force - Nine grades with maximum figures for closing force at various door masses Digit 4 - Fire resistance – acceptable for use on fire/smoke door assemblies, grade 0: unsuitable, grade 1: suitable Digit 5 - Safety - No requirement, but note: a lock or latch conforming to this standard can, at the same time, also be part of an exit device conforming to EN 179 or EN 1125. Digit 6 - Corrosion resistance - Eight grades are identified with neutral salt-spray (NSS) corrosion resistance grades Digit 7 - Security and drill resistance - Seven grades are identified with minimum figures for requirements relating to physical attack, with or without drilling of the lockcase Digit 8 - Field of door application - Fifteen grades are identified – hinged or sliding doors with rim or mortice locks with either keyless egress from inside or key locking from both sides. Escape Hardware The correct specification of escape hardware is a critical part of a building's design as it involves 'life safety'. Clause 6.11 of The Building Regulations, Approved Document B, states the following: 'Doors on escape routes (whether or not the doors are fire doors), should either not be fitted with lock, latch or bolt fastenings, or they should only be fitted with simple fastenings that can be readily operated from the side approached by people making an escape. The operation of these fastenings should be readily apparent and without the use of a key and without having to manipulate more than one mechanism.' The following pages show a selection of products that meet the above criteria.

Information Panic Exit Hardware BS EN 1125 Products that are classified as panic exit hardware offer a single operation of a push bar or touch bar to release the device. These are certified to EN 1125 and can be used on premises that do not require prior knowledge of its operation and where panic situations are foreseen, such as places of entertainment, public buildings and areas open to the public.

Dogging Facility A feature built into some exit devices that allows the bolts or latches to be retained in the withdrawn position, when desired. Also available as a separate device for use with some panic bolts with vertical rods.

Emergency Exit Hardware BS EN 179 Products that are classified as emergency exit hardware offer a single operation of a lever or push pad to release the device. These are certified to EN 179 and can be used on premises that require prior knowledge of its operation and where panic situations are not foreseen, such as offices and areas that are not open to the public.

Micro Switch For situations that require the panic hardware to be linked to a monitoring or alarm system a micro switch can be fitted in the slave unit. The micro switch closes an electrical circuit when the cross bar is operated.

Actuator Unit The actuator unit connects the panic or emergency exit hardware to a mortice night latch. When used with a micro switch, the actuator unit can be connected to an electrical circuit to operate products such as an electromagnetic Lock. Adjustable Shoots To overcome the problem of bolts not fully engaging in the keeps due to the door or frame moving after a period of time, adjustable shoots are available on panic bolts. Anti-thrust A device built into a unit to prevent either a bolt or latch from being forced back when in the closed position, thus increasing the level of security. Automatic Top Trip Device used to hold the bolts in the withdrawn position when the door is open. When the door is closed, the automatic top trip releases the bolts to secure the door.

Mechanism Unit This is the main unit that controls the travel of the bolts and latches.

Outside Access Device Knob or lever handle operated, it provides external key override to enable entry from the outside. The key will engage or disengage the knob or lever handle allowing the door to be accessible from the outside without use of a key, when desired. Digital keypad versions are also available. Pullman Latch A latch mechanism built into exit devices in lieu of a bolt mechanism to allow easy latching of an escape door. This option is often preferred in areas of high traffic or when self closing devices are used. Push Bar A horizontal bar projecting from the door face that, when pushed in a downward motion, will trigger the latching/bolting mechanism Slave Unit The slave unit supports the cross bar on any panic hardware. Touch Bar A horizontal bar affixed to the door face that, when pressed at any point across its length, will trigger the latching mechanism.

Standard Sizes: Standard sized units are suitable for doors up to 2440mm high and 1220mm wide. Special sizes are available on request.

BS EN179: 2008: For push pad and lever handle devices which can only be used in areas where occupants of the building are familiar with the layout and means of escape, and where members of the public do not have access. Application examples: factory, warehouse, offices.

Fixing / Installation Installation instructions are supplied with all panic and emergency exit hardware. In order to meet the CEN European standards the door and frame should be of good quality and suitable to support the hardware. Make sure that any weather strips or fixings on the door or frame do not interfere with the opening and closing of the door.

BS EN1125: 2008: For push bar and touch bar devices which can be used in any situation, particularly areas open to members of the public. Application examples: shopping centres, public buildings, cinemas. Finishes: Certain applied finishes are not suitable for external use or other harsh environments. Please refer to our technical department.

Maintenance It is important that all panic and emergency exit hardware devices are inspected and maintained properly to ensure safety is maintained when exiting a building in any situation. Once the device is fitted regular maintenance is recommended.

Relay Terminals: NO = Normally Open C = Common NC = Normally Closed • The above diagrams are ONLY suitable if the same power supply is powering both the keypad/card reader AND the locking device. • Make sure the relay rating is big enough to control your locking device.

• The examples are common ways of connecting an Access Control system. However there are other ways and manufacturer’s instructions may differ. Please ensure that you follow only one set of instructions, never both as there may be a conflict.

Integrating an Access Control System with an Emergency Fire Exit

The decision of whether the connection is by fire alarm relay, break glass unit or both is made by the fire officer. This will vary greatly from region to region. If a connection by fire alarm relay is to be made then this should be carried out by the fire alarm installation or maintenance company. Failure to do so could result in the access control installer being held responsible for any problems that occur on the whole system thereafter.

ACCESS CONTROL

Terminology Alternating current (AC) An electric current that reverses its direction regularly and continually. Ampere (amp) The unit of measurement for the rate of electrical current flow.

Maintained switch A switch designed for applications requiring sustained contacts. Microswitch An electrical switch which can be operated using a very small force and also possibly using a small movement.

ANSI American National Standards Institute.

Mifare A technology contained in many contactless smart cards and proximity cards.

Anti-passback A means of preventing the sharing of an access control credential.

Momentary switch A spring loaded contact that when pressed, closes two contacts.

Audit trail A means of recording and saving access control event history for later review.

Normally open (NO) The condition or position of contact prior to initiation or energization, in this case, an open condition.

Battery back-up A means of automatically switching over to stored battery power during local primary power failure.

Normally Closed (NC) The condition or position of contact prior to initiation or energization, in this case, a closed condition.

Biometrics The measurement of a physical trait that is unique, such as a fingerprint, hand geometry or iris pattern.

Operating voltage The voltage by which a system operates.

CAT 5 A very common cable type that is used for network cabling and many access control data functions. Coil, electric Successive turns of insulated wire that create a magnetic field when an electric current is passed through them. Contacts Electrically conductive points, used to make or break an electrical circuit mechanically. Continuous duty Refers to a device or a control that can operate continuously with no off or rest periods. Controller, Control Panel A circuit board or group of circuit boards that contain programming for the operation of an access control or other system. Current The flow of electrons through an electrical conductor. Current is measured in amperes. De-energize To remove power. Delay A period of time before or during an event. Direct current (DC) Electrical current that travels only in one direction and has negative and positive polarity. Door open time The time that an access control device unlocks an opening for entry, usually programmable. Door status switch A DSS is a switch used to monitor whether a door is in an opened or closed position. Electric Release A door unlocking device that is installed in the door jamb and that works in conjunction with a mechanical lock or latch mechanism. Electric Lock A mechanical locking device that has been modified to allow an electric circuit to lock or unlock it. Electromagnetic Lock (Magnetic Lock, Mag Lock) A device that locks/unlocks an opening without moving parts, using pure electro-magnetic attraction. Energize To apply power. Exit Switch A type of switch that is designed to facilitate egress through an opening. Fail-open An electric device that automatically unlocks with any power interruptions. Fail-locked An electric lock that requires power to unlock. Input voltage The designed source requirement needed by equipment in order to operate properly. Interlock A system of multiple doors with controlled interaction. IP rating A system of codes that indicate resistance of electrical enclosures to moisture and foreign bodies. Keypad In access control, usually refers to a numeric input device used to identify a user by PIN (personal identification number). Light emitting diode (LED) A solid-state device, that gives off virtually heatless colored light when electric current is passed through it. Local alarm A visual or audible signaling device located at a monitored door, window or other opening.

Output voltage The designed power source produced by a power supply to operate equipment. Passage mode A means of overriding the code to allow free access for a period of time. Passive Infrared Detector (PIR) A motion sensing device. Proximity A common access card technology, proximity uses radio frequency to communicate between a card or tag and a reader without physical contact. Rectifier A solid-state electrical device that will allow current to flow in one direction only. It is designed to convert alternating current to direct current. Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless non-contact use of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data. Reader A device that obtains data from an access credential (card, tag, etc.) and sends the data to a controller for an access decision. Regulated power supply A power supply provides a constant output regardless of voltage variation. Relay An electrically controlled device that opens and closes electrical contacts to effect the operation of other devices in the same or another electrical circuit. Remote alarm A visual or audibly signaling device used to signal violations at locations removed from the central control station Resistance The opposition to the flow of an electric current (measured in ohms). RS-485 A standard defining the electrical characteristics of drivers and receivers for use in networks. Schedule Programming of an access control system that automatically locks and unlocks doors, or that performs other functions based on day and time. Solenoid An electro-mechanical device that operates a locking device. Standalone In access control, this term usually refers to a device that is not part of a network. Switches Devices that make or break (open or close) connections in electrical or electronic circuit. Time-and-Attendance A system for recording worker arrival and departure times for the purpose of payroll or other management functions. Time Zone A period of time that has been programmed into an access control system during which authorized users either can or cannot gain access. Transformer An electrical device that takes electricity of one voltage and changes it into another voltage Voltage The term most often used to designate electrical pressure that exists between two points. Watt The common unit of electrical power. Wiegand interface A technology commonly found in card swipe systems. Zone A portion of a large protected area.

GM7250 A standalone access solution, which uses a separate control unit for higher security. The control unit is housed on the inside or safe side of the door. The control unit is used in conjunction with a reader or keypad. It can be fitted to one or numerous doors in a building and additional doors may be added as required. GM7270 An advanced PC based access control solution that can control access on hundreds of doors for up to 50,000 users. Any instructions given to the software are immediately updated at all the doors. Adding users, barring users and changing users’ access permissions are all done from the PC quickly and easily. Adding additional doors is straightforward and cost effective. In addition, all new innovations to the system are designed to be backward compatible and software upgrades are free. Several buildings can be controlled from one location using TCP/IP across an existing network. Wireless control units are available for areas where it is difficult to run a data line. Access permissions may be set individually or by department. Shift patterns may be set for departments, and those permissions are allocated instantly when a new user card is issued. An events screen allows viewing of ‘real time’ events as they are happening. Specification Notes Useful Information Note that products for external use, particularly in Coastal situations, should be carefully selected for resistance to corrosion. Typically 316 Grade Stainless Steel, PVD Brass or powder coated products are the most resistant.

Standards BS EN 12051 is the standard for Door and Window Bolts. BS476 Part 22 refers to the fire testing of building components BES EN 1634-1 refers to the performance of timber doors

Standards EN 13724 is the standard for mailboxes. This deals with aperture size, positioning, corrosion resistance, security and safety. TS009:2012 is the security standard created by the Door and Hardware Federation for mailboxes on the outside of buildings.

HTM Health Technical Memorandum

For Handrail Brackets, Part M of Building Regulations requires that there is a clearance of between 60 and 75mm between the handrail and any adjacent wall surface and that there is a clearance of at least 50mm between a cranked support and the underside of the handrail.
