Castleblayney Library What to expect on a visit

Castleblayney Library is a JAM card friendly organisation. You can show your JAM Card on a visit if you want a little help or need 'Just A Minute' at the desk.

Castleblayney Library is located in the Íontas, Arts,Theatre and Community Centre.

This is the entrance to the library. You can return books to the box outside the door.

The Children's area is on the right when you enter the library.

Books in the Children's Area are arranged by Coloured Stickers

The coloured stickers help to know what books are suitable for you.

A letter on the top of each book is the first letter of the author's surname.

This can help you find a book by a particular author quickly.

There is a Young Adult area and these books have a red sticker on the bottom of the spine.

Children's Non-Fiction books are arranged by Subject.

For example if you wanted a book on coding you would find it at Juv-NF-Com (Juvenile NonFiction Computers)

For example if you wanted a book on asthma you would find it at Juv-NF-MED (Juvenile Non-Fiction Medical)

You can borrow items at the library desk.

Or you can use your library card to check out your items at the selfservice machine.

To the left of the entrance is the Adult Library.

The adult fiction books are arranged in alphabetical order using the author's surname.

The adult nonfiction books are arranged numerically, using the Dewey Classification system.

You can check the online catalogue to find a particular book or ask the librarian for help.

When visiting the library you can relax in the reading area.

You can use the Study/Activities area.

You can use a Computer.

You can borrow a Fidget Sensory Box at the Library Desk on your visit.

On your first visit you can request a sensory bag and a guide to our sensory services.

And don't forget to pick up a guide to the Assistive Toys and Technology Collection.
