BYRON NELSON

“Golf has never had a nicer champion.” — JACK NICKLAUS

For 50 years, the AT&T Byron Nelson has been a showcase for premier professional golf in Dallas, Texas. Named for legendary golfer Byron Nelson, the AT&T Byron Nelson attracts an international field of golfers including champions such as Jason Day, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer, Shigeki Maruyama, Rory Sabbatini, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh.

Byron Nelson’s golf achievements are well documented — 52 professional victories, five major championships, and an impressive year of 18 victories in 1945, highlighted by an unprecedented 11 wins in a row. What was even more impressive about Nelson was his reputation as a role model built upon character, integrity and faith. Nelson spent his life promoting the game of golf and the values that are instilled through it. He dedicated himself to mentoring young players as they pursued this competitive career, offering advice about playing golf and demonstrating good sportsmanship and humility. It’s this balance of life that is reflected in the Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Awards.
