Since 1920, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas has invested in the kids and families of North Texas. In 2010, we continued to count our blessings and our accomplishments. Our therapeutic services and education programs responded to urgent needs in our community by: • Helping kids and families reconnect with each other when relationships have frayed • Advocating for teamwork between teachers, kids and families when students are struggling • Providing a safe, strength-based, after school program for troubled youth • Creating a training hub for education and mental health professionals to learn and grow In addition, our students at the J. Erik Jonsson Community School continued to flourish and reach new heights in academic achievement. We’re building the future here. Day after day, client after client, student after student, workshop after workshop. Helping transform children’s futures…. creating new possibilities for success

Jeffrey J. Porter Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers Board Chairman 2010

Education The J. Erik Jonsson Community School provides innovative teaching and learning within a family-friendly environment for at-risk kids from age three through fifth grade. Over 75 percent of the school’s 230 students qualify for the free or reduced federal school lunch program, a shorthand indicator for poverty. The Science Goes to Camp program extends our reach into urban public schools in Dallas County. A dynamic earth and life science curriculum is shared with fourth and fifth grade students and their teachers, culminating in a day of learning and exploration at the Club’s 1,400 acre Camp in East Texas. The J. Erik Jonsson Community School met Texas Education Agency (TEA) criteria to be an exemplary school. Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) Results Passing Commended Reading 97% 42% Math 97% 52% Writing 100% 44% Science 100% 69%

230 students who look forward to school every day 2,037 students and their teachers connecting classroom science with real-world adventure 50 college scholarships awarded to Jonsson School graduates and therapeutic clients

Program Sharing Great services + research, reflection and analysis = one uniquely dynamic environment. The Salesmanship Club is dedicated not only to facilitating learning in-house, but throughout North Texas and around the world. Through collaboration and training, our impact is extended far beyond the number of kids and families we serve directly.

49 graduate-level interns and pre-service teachers 33 workshops and seminars 1,710 professional trainees

Club and Community Support Salesmanship Club members and our donors and partners bring an inspirational level of enthusiasm, talent and resources to our programs. From serving dinner to families in treatment, to mentoring college students, to contributing financially – the ways they help are many and varied. Thanks to the success of our 2010 capital campaign, we moved from “tenant” to “owner” at our campus located at 9705 Harry Hines Boulevard! We look forward to rededicating this facility in 2011 and to serving kids and families there for many years to come.
