Wewelcome you to Nantucket Island wishing you a fun and totally awesome 2022 season! We have a whole slate of regattas, fishing tournaments and local events to enjoy. The Nantucket Land Council has now created “The Water Fund”, to help support marine and freshwater projects on Nantucket. They continue their water projects including the eelgrass health research in Madaket Harbor, supplementing the Town of Nantucket’s water quality sampling with small pond water quality research, and investigating coastal plastics on our beaches and ocean waters.
The Nantucket Angler’s Club has a series of clinics and tournaments beginning with the NAC vs. MV Tournament in June, the Bottom Feeders Tournament in July, the Shark Tournament in August, the Annual Inshore Classic in September, the “Cranny” Cranston Beach Bluefish Tournament in October and finishing with the Last Gasp Striper Tournament in November. The 21st Annual Invitational Big Game Battle “Fishing for a Cause”, raises money for support of children, families and those most in need year after year, raising over $1 Million so far. This year the big event goes from August 4th to August 6th. Nantucket Race Week, benefitting Nantucket Community Sailing takes place the week of August 13 to 21. Featuring the Youth Regatta, Women’s Regatta, the IOD Celebrity Invitational. It culminates with the 50th Annual Opera House Cup Regatta in Nantucket Sound on Sunday August 21. The Holiday Season kicks off with the Cold Turkey Plunge on Thanksgiving Day for all those hardy souls who can brave the icy dip with a drumstick and a bowl of gravy.
