It’s normal for seals to haul out onto the beach to rest, digest, socialize and feed their pups. Interrupting resting seals may cause distress, waste precious energy or even lead to injury or death for the seal. Please stay well away at least 150 feet and use a camera or binoculars to view them. Walk your dog on leads to prevent unnecessary stress to seals. And please no seal-fies! Call our HOTLINE 833-667-6626 to report any injured, entangled, distressed or deceased marine mammals.

WONDERING HOW YOU CAN HELP?

We are always looking for volunteers to join our Rescue Team!

Marine Mammal Alliance Nantucket is the only stranding network for Nantucket and surrounding islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget. Permitted by NOAA, our team responds and disentangles pinnipeds from fishing gear, escorts stranded cetaceans to safer waters and delivers injured or ill animals to rehab when necessary. Through outreach, education, collaboration and advocacy, we strive to make a difference. We are an all-volunteer organization and rely solely on donations from the public to purchase rescue gear and educational supplies. If you’d like to donate, please scan the QR code.

Other ways to help save Nantucket’s marine wildlife:

• Offer your expertise on our Board of Directors. • Raise needed funds by throwing a party or other event. • Own a boat? Offer to be on call list for transportation to Tuckernuck or Muskeget for rescue missions. • Share our hotline number and mission.
