Archbishop Molloy High School is a Catholic Marist school which fosters an exemplary education in mind, body, and spirit for a diverse college-bound population. At Molloy, individuals recognize their self-worth and develop a lifetime of Christian values, critical thinking, leadership skills, and service to others.

What is a Stanner?

From 1892 to 1957, Molloy was known as St. Ann’s Academy and located in Manhattan, where students were nicknamed “Stanners,” short for “St. Anners.” In 1957, the school relocated to Queens and was renamed Archbishop Molloy High School. The Stanner nickname was preserved to honor our history.

Molloy offers a uniquely innovative and comprehensive course of academic study designed to develop every student’s ability to think, analyze, synthesize, and create. With offerings of great breadth and depth, students are challenged to develop a full understanding of existing academic knowledge and actively engage with the skills of tomorrow. Our curriculum is constantly evaluated and refined so that each student’s academic journey leads them to a path of discovery and meaningful work.

Marist

In the Way of Mary

Molloy’s faculty and staff teach in the tradition and charism of the Marist Brothers. Founded by Saint Marcellin Champagnat in 1817, the Marist Brothers make Jesus Christ known and loved through the education of young people by introducing them to the five Marist pillars and encouraging them to be their most true selves. Molloy and the Marist Brothers welcome and respect students of all faiths.

Campus Ministry

The Marist Charism is an educational philosophy shared by ministries in 82 countries worldwide. Our Campus Ministers work with students year-round to coordinate many enriching opportunities focused on service, retreats, and deepening their Catholic Marist faith. Experiences include service trips (local, domestic, and international), weekend retreats and encounters at the Marist Brothers’ Center at Esopus in upstate New York, after school retreats, donation drives, and much more.

CAMPUS MINISTRY

M olloy’s student-athletes are nurtured by experienced and dedicated coaches who are focused on developing the whole person. We encourage the hard work and discipline needed to succeed on and off the field, instilling values of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Our campus features two gymnasiums, a baseball field, an all-weather track, and a Strength and Conditioning Center for year-round training.

ACTIVITIES

Well-Rounded

Molloy offers distinct programs beyond our curriculum that help form well-rounded individuals who are ready to take on the world after high school.

Dual Enrollment:

Students can take classes that offer transferable college credit. Molloy holds partnerships with St. John’s University, Seton Hall University, Long Island University, and SUNY Albany.

Freshman Camp:

A week-long summer camp at the Marist Brothers’ Center in Esopus, NY that invites incoming freshmen to build community and create friendships before starting high school.

▲ Educational Adventures: Multi-country international trips that immerse students into new cultures, expanding their world view.

▼ The Murphy Scholars: A grant program that allows students to take college-level courses and workshops, potentially free of charge. Murphy Scholars typically participate over the summer and at a college/university campus of their choosing.

Virtual Enterprise:

A full-year course that gives students the opportunity to learn about business operations by working together to create their own businesses.

SMILE: Various after school support groups that focus on personal growth through discussion. Meetings are confidential and are facilitated by a professional guidance counselor.

Molloy’s Guidance Department is dedicated to supporting the emotional, social, academic, and spiritual development of each student through individual and group counseling. Our extensive guidance and counseling programs, led by trained professionals, advise students as they advance through high school and prepare for adulthood. Our counselors empower members of the Molloy community to work together in support of each Stanner’s journey.

Peer Groups

Molloy’s Peer Group Counseling program is built on the principle that students can provide support for one another as they deal with life’s challenges. As a key part of the sophomore curriculum, the program

gives students the chance to talk openly and share their experiences with the guidance of trained senior leaders. Stanners are encouraged to speak freely, knowing that everything discussed within their group remains confidential.

College Counseling

Molloy’s college counselors assist students in all phases of the college process, from researching schools to submitting applications. Our counselors facilitate one-to-one meetings, set up campus visits and information sessions, and support students in exploring scholarship opportunities, all to ensure that Stanners have the resources they need to achieve their goals at outstanding institutions across the globe.

Molloy’s SMILE program (Something More in Life’s Experience) consists of various support groups run in a similar manner as our Peer Group program. The groups are voluntary and open to all students, and foster a safe space for our Stanners to feel comfortable, seen, and heard.
