Las actuaciones de saneamiento y depuración de aguas residuales han sido también objetivo prioritario de la Unión Europea en estos años, consistentes en la construcción y mejora de infraestructuras e instalaciones de depuración y de las redes de saneamiento de los sistemas generales. La Junta de Andalucía ha ejecutado, entre otras, las actuaciones de mejora y reparación de estaciones depuradoras de aguas residuales en Almería: El Viso-Campohermoso, en el término municipal de Níjar y en Ohanes , y en Sevilla, en el municipio de el Ronquillo, las Estaciones Depuradoras de Aguas Residuales y Sistemas de Colectores en Chipiona, Palma del Río, Vega de Granada, Valverde del Camino, Jabugo, la E.D.A.R. de Úbeda, Coín y Bajo Guadalhorce, Utrera en Sevilla y el saneamiento y Depuración del Litoral Granadino, Comarca de Los Vélez, Río Guadalete, Cuenca del Río Guadajoz y Río Guadaira.
During this twenty-year period, in order to fulfil the objective of optimising water usage and improving the efficiency of infrastructures, avoiding loss as a result of leaks or other causes, actions have involved the creation of important infrastructures such as the channelling and dams in Aljarafe, Vega del Genil, the tropical coast of Granada, the basin of the River Guadiaro, the basin of the Guadalquivir in Cordoba, the basin of the River Iro in Cadia and the River Tinto in Huelva. Activities involving wastewater treatment have also formed a priority objective of the European Union over the course of this period, consisting in the construction and improvement of treatment infrastructures and installations within the sewerage networks of the general system.
