EDITOR’S PAGE

Good day one and all. This issue deals with the complexities of the Coronavirus state of affairs while learning the disciplines Photography. This has been a strange and interesting two semesters. Thank you 2020 and it’s sidekick 2021. We have gone from in person learning, to quarantine, to online learning, to in person learning and into blended teaching. It has forced us to change our lesson plans, cameras and lessons/ strategies on how we teach the disciplines of photography. The scholars in this magazine issue have demonstrated a willingness and gumption to participate in their studies of photography no matter what the current climate may throw at them. . This issue also shows you what students went through in order to take photos including social distancing style photography by staying 6 feet away from each other and wearing mask. I give high praises to all my students who participated in this most difficult of semesters. Enjoy

Darialis Infante Aperture mode has helped me with photography because it’s helped me better focus my pictures.The mode is to capture a place were u pick the speed/ light of how the camera will capture the photo.It affects the light of the photo.Wether you want your back round to be light or dark.And that’s how the Aperture mode has helped me in photography.

UNDERSTANDING THE DISCIPLINES OF STILL LIFE.

The technique I used was to get good pictures was moving the focusing point and setting up a a place to take a good picture and I also tried my best to get good lighting and to get a good mood. If I wanted to make it sad I needed a dark spot. If I to make it happy I needed a lighter spot.

If I wanted to chose a light spot I need to go by the windows so i sunlight can come in. It get a darker picture I needed to step away from the window.

Alexander Osei-Tontoh The technique I used to get the right photo was angling. If I positioned myself right, I would get a good picture. The positioning also effected how the the picture felt. If the picture was taken right, it looked and felt good but if it wasn’t taken good then it would look bland and boring. I also used the focusing point so that the camera would focus more on one part of the photo to make it look just right.

Kaitlyn Victoria The technique that I use in order to get my photos is to have a lot of light but not too much. I say this because if it’s a lot of light then the feeling of happy will change. Also I want a little bit of darkness because sometimes in life there has to be a sad time.

I like showing peoples feelings and how they are as a person. And I like this technique because I want the person to show themselves.

Katherina Markova The technique I used was to zoom in and put the focus point to adjust the lighting based on the mood I was going for. I had my model pose with her head adjusted to get nice lighting. The focus point was crucial because I didn’t want to make her look like a silhouette or make her glow like the sun. The background was held more simple and was blurred.

Another thing that I did was that when I was taking the picture I took a deep breath out and then I slowly breathed out to steady myself. (I either do that or i hold my breath.)

Angelique Fortiche-Ocampo The technique i used was the lighting.

Since it was kinda dark and the windows were the only thing that produced light, I used it. I put her in front of a book and put the lighting thing on her so the lighting could be bright and happy. I also put some props, for example, a car. This added some character into the picture.

Where you place the focusing point on your main subject.

Light or a well lit background means a happy mood.

Exact opposite with a sad mood shot. Dark background produces a sad mood.

You accomplish this by where you put the focusing point and where you place the model.

Dark area or light area.

Brian Carino The technique that I used to get my photos was finding a place where the background was basically empty expect a few objects. The lighting was the most hardest part because sometimes the photo was Expose to lighting in the background sometimes it was to much light or too much dark so it was hard, and also it was very annoying trying to move the Multi-selector button to my lightest place because I was shaking so much so then I had to put it back. Some Highlight were using the non-life objects because I was able to make some good scenes.

gabriela mcgrue-newton Today I learned how to use shutter speed and how it helps my photos look better. The purpose of shutter speed is to show us the lighting mood of our photos before we take it My focusing point also has something to do with this. If I don’t move my my focusing point to where my object is through the lens it will come out blurry and that photo won’t look nice. Over all, I have learned a lot today, and I am looking forward to coming back to photography next Wednesday. :))

aileen villalba The purpose of a shutter speed is to capture as much Imaging or surroundings as possible and to get the best lighting.For example if i was right next to a window the photo would come out to bright but if i stand far away from the sun it will be to dark but in the middle of the room is perfect.

Samary Espinal The purpose of shutter speed is to capture the image at its full potential. Also, the lighting is important because you don’t want to be blinded by the light but you also don’t want to strain your eye with it being too dark. also, it depends on where you stand. For example, if you stand too far you not going to get close up which is one of the main points of the class. And this is the purpose of shutter speed

Darialis Infante The. purpose of shutter speed is to get the correct lighting.Either if you want your photo to end up light or dark.The focasing point help’s because it help’s focas what point of light you want in your picture.And so you have to change the lighting to what would be best.And that is the purpose of a shutter button.

The focusing point can help because you can position the focusing point to be where there is the most light, helping to create a sharper image when choosing the shutter

taraji mcclarence The focusing point helps to focus on one thing. for example, if you are taking a picture of someone you use the focusing point to focus on their face. The purpose of the shutter speed is to make you picture lighter or darker. Another example, If you taking a photo of an object you use the focusing point on the object only. that was the point of the focusing point and the purpose of shutter speed.

I was having trouble with the focus point on the camera because the pattern I was taking a photo of was only focused on one part and that kind of ruined the whole photograph. But, when I changed the shutter speed to 90, the sharpness of the picture changed drastically. It was clear and the photo looked better overall. The lighting was also looking better.

amanda montano The purpose of shutter speed is to get a good picture with good lighting. Using stutter speed you can get a dark or light picture. To get a lighter picture go near a window .

When take a picture make sure you’re not too close or too far.

Denis Lopez The purpose of the shutter speed is to capture as much as possible, for example if you make it so that your shutter speed is very fast, then your camera will capture is very fast, and if you make it slow then you will capture as much as possible or as much lighting as possible, and your focusing point helps on what you want to focus on and what you want your camera to look at more, and get a better capture of it

Crismar Bonilla the purpose of the shutter speed is to get the right lighting. when you use the shutter speed you can change the speed to get lighter or darker photos. for example the faster the speed the less time it will take to capture everything. this will make it so that it doesn’t catch everything at once and often the lighting won’t be as good. if you slow down the speed it takes its time to capture all the details.

Moriah Diaz ISO is a option on a camera that works on how the light is in your area based on whether you outside and its a sunny day or a cloudy day or if you’re inside . it works on whether on as i said a cloudy day or whatever type of day it is and you can use 400 when there is to much light maybe 800 even .but you need to know what nautral lighting or lighting you put you need to know what ISO goes with it

Angelique Fortiche-Ocampo ISO is a thing that manages the light sensitivity. For example, my living room is slightly dark so you would put the ISO up, maybe to 1600. Another example is, my bedroom is bright so you would put the ISOs down to maybe 100-400.

The low numbers are for if you are in a bright area and the high numbers are for if you are in a dark area. An ISO is a option that manages light sensitivity.
