THE KEY TO MINOTTI IDENTITY LIES IN ITS ABILITY TO EXPRESS THE MADE IN ITALY CONCEPT IN CONSISTENCY AND MAINTAINING THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN TRADITION AND TECHNOLOGY, LUXURY AND RIGOUR, FASHION AND COMFORT.

Recognizable features of the trademark Minotti style and products are its timeless design, unparalleled comfort, reliability and the ability to stand the test of time. These are the distinctive hallmarks that have made Minotti a leading manufacturer and seller of furniture and upholstered furniture which are distributed through an international network of trade people who are familiar with the recognition earned by the brand in 60 years of history.

‘Made in Italy’ is central to their design philosophy, with an emphasis on a blend of tradition and technology.

Minotti draws on their long craft history, employing trained artisans with expertise in refining details. These same hands guide state-of-the-art working machines – hands respectful of tradition, capable of controlling technology and proud of developing Italian-made products.

Minotti was founded in the 50’s and born out of the vision intuition of Alberto Minotti. Its original artisan dimension soon changed and from the 60’s the company acquired an industrial character and size. In the 70’s, sons Renato and Roberto Minotti took it to another level by kick-starting the company’s expansion and garnering recognition for the brand in Italy and overseas. In charge of the company’s strategies, the Minotti brothers shared creative styling and aesthetic principles with architect Rodolfo Dordoni, who has been overseeing the collections since 1997.

All products by Minotti are finished in an artisan way, exploiting the opportunities that modern-day industry provides and that allow Minotti to achieve a superior quality construction in keeping with the finest tradition of authentic Italian production. This is the result of the experience of specialized workers who guarantee the precision of mechanical cutting machines, while able craftsmen apply their sensitivity and manual skills in the finishing details, making Minotti sofas veritable customized products.

COLETTE | Minotti The construction of the Colette armchair is fairly complex.

The profile of the external structure in metal is calendered, assembled and welded at more than 300 points. The special metallic finish is achieved through galvanization in a whitegold bath, followed by application of a transparent protective coating that lends durability and depth. The structure of the seat terminates at the front in a support structure and is made of polyurethane foam with metal insert, and elastic straps to ensure the utmost in comfort. The contoured seat cushions and seat back allow them to mold perfectly to the structure.

It is made using an ancient, hand-crafted technique that lends each piece a unique personality.

Two truncated cones merge into a single, unique shape to form a coffee table whose iconic personality is further underscored by the selection of two metal finishes: Bronze and Platinum. These finishes require that the ceramic piece undergo an additional firing after vitrification to bond the metal to the glaze.

BAYU S A P U T R O With 28 years of experience in the design industry, Alex Bayusaputro carries forward to deliver inspiring works while expanding his consulting company

Genius Loci to 6 cities all over Asia. Between managing projects and collecting artworks, he continues to develop fresh concepts and cutting-edge method

to unify bespoke details that contribute to a sensory experience in his design.

What determined your passion for design?

Seeing a creation completed is the biggest satisfaction. No money in the world can buy that.

Too often in interior design, artworks treated as an afterthought.

As someone with a passion to collect art piece, how much role you give to artworks in your design plans? At what point in your design process do you usually select your art?

Usually, artwork itself dictate their position in a space. They have tendency to communicate with you on their belonging. Most of the time, when you see an artwork (depend on its shape, colour, and size) you will instinctively know the most befitting spot to display it.

Other than collecting art, do you do any sort of hobby besides work?

Traveling. My work is also my hobby.

With so many projects on going how do you come up with different concepts for every project?

It usually just flow in as I have been doing this work for 28 years. It has developed into a reflex. Just like an experienced chef who can cook almost anything even in the jungle.

How do you manage your time to manage a few offices in different cities and countries at the same time?

We developed a system, where one partner will concentrate handling 2 cities. Genius Loci have 6 locations in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Surabaya, Chengdu, Shanghai. I, myself concentrated in Jakarta & Surabaya office and part of Singapore. My Partner, Mr. Benjamin Kim concentrated in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur where he is also taking care Vietnam, Cambodia and India markets. Our associate partner Mr. Sun Hao concentrated in Chengdu & Shanghai where the market for all China including Hong Kong & Taiwan.

How do you embrace modern technology in your design?

Technology is already part of our life now. The technology adds value in the speed of design process, construction method, and new materials where we would not be able to produce in the past.

What would you say has been the biggest challenge for you in your career so far?

I will assume finding my replacement in Genius Loci, as we are always looking for the next captain for further expansion.

Do you have new projects on the horizon you are able to share with us?

At the moment, we are working on few international brand 5 stars hotels that is also into product design. As for name & details, we prefer to keep confidentiality at the present moment.

Morgan reinterprets the style in a more contemporary key through a series of sophisticated design solutions and the pairing of striking luxury materials.

ow would you describe your style? Do you have any signature that

you like to leave in your projects?

I always try to be meticulously attentive in treating a project. Give a careful attention to every detail, and most of all its quality. Because like a musical piece, every detail composed from individual tunes and then it coalesced into a beautiful harmony.

Interior designers are artists and probably like all artists need to search for inspiration from time to time. Who or what inspires you the most?

Where do you search for your inspiration?

You can always find anything in nature. It has always been my unlimited source of inspiration.

The things I’ve seen and my experiences also enriched my insights to the process.

You deem interior design as people-oriented industry, a collaboration with clients and design professionals. How do you manage to build a solid foundation of this relationship and remain in good standing?

Communication is vital to foster a good working relationship. Having shared understandings with open and honest communication will be rewarding for anyone involved in the project.

By choosing the right textures, colors and layout, the interior designer makes the home livable, creating a comfortable environment. Often, the architect and interior designer will collaborate to ensure that the design is everything the homeowner wants. How does this architecture and interior design harmony work out with you and Studio Air Putih?

We always keep it professional, each of us has a clear idea of our parts in the project. We define roles, responsibilities, and communication at the start of a project. In the end, our primary goal is to fulfill the client’s wishes and make them happy.

Choosing the right piece for a design set takes a lot of time and attention to find the perfect match. Which advices do you have for those who do not know how to start a challenge like this?

All ideas begin as a small need in your mind. Just relax, keep what you have as simple as possible.

Do you have a dream project? Some type of property you would love to work on?

I treat every project like a dream project. A new, unique plan to work on. So I’m always excited for my upcoming projects.

Glass, which is a pure and ecological material, plays the most important part in Rimadesio collection. All work on it is carried out entirely in the company’s production department, this being possible as a result of a technical knowhow gained over 50 years’ experience in this field.

Rimadesio’ s aim is to continue to develop its own design culture and production technology in order to be able to offer functionally innovative ideas which are exclusive from an aesthetic point of view and can ensure maximum reliability over time.

COVER FREESTANDING storage system

Rimadesio was founded in 1956 by Francesco Malberti and Luigi Riboldi. The company started out under the name of Rima Vetraria and its headquarters were in Desio, in the Milan northern area. Desio is situated in the heart of Brianza: a clearly defined area in Lombardy that was getting ready to become a leader in the exceptional industrial and economic boom that was to take place a few years later.

The two-part name Rimadesio-vetro has been present from the very start: at the beginning the company dedicated its work to flat panes of glass, working for other furniture companies. A large part of the production process was carried out by hand: engravings, gold-leaf applications and colouring were all done by hand, one at a time.

These working methods were matched by a great desire to experiment and a huge lifeforce. During this period the company built up its own technological know-how, and expanded its range of materials to include wood and plexiglass.

Meridiani was born out of a simple yet passionate idea of Laura Ferraro Crosti: to design a home collection able to interpret classic themes with contemporary flair, products which can stand the test of time and convey a sophisticated yet relaxed elegance.

The first collection saw the light in 1996 thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of Laura and Andrea Parisio – designer and art director of the brand – after months of research, analysis and comparisons, taking advantage of a thirty year experience gained with other projects, and of the family’s industrial facilities, located in Brianza, an area traditionally dedicated to the manufacture of high quality furniture.
