JUNIOR GAME NIGHT - Cornhole The juniors are going to try something a litle different this year andtake on the adults in the Cornhole Tournament!

There will be a Family division (adult / youth) and a Youth division (2 youth), so be sure to enter and show your stuff!

Please make plans to attend our Junior Meeting Sat Morning at 10:00 during State Convention. This is where a lot of decisions are made regarding the junior association‛s actions throughout the year. There are numerous items to discuss and we need everyone‛s thoughts and opinions to help make it a wonderful year!

Juniors need to please bring an item for the Junior silent auction.

Items need to be turned in to Shannon by 4:00 on Friday. The auction will be open Friday evening only during the social event.

National Convention 2020 - Lancaster, Pennsylvania!!

We will have sign-ups for National Convention Contests during our annual Junior meeting. Join us this summer on our trip to PA June 22-26! It provides opportunity to compete against and meet dairy youth from around the country.

Youth AG National Conv. Attendee Meeting Meeting for Attendees Career Day! & Parents

A Youth Ag Career Day will continue at the 2020 Heart of America Dairy Expo on January 16, 2020 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield. This is the third time event for youth at the Dairy Expo.

MDA wanted to show their support for youth and to introduce our young people to the many career opportunities in agriculture. Registration for the Career Day is free to students and their advisors thanks to our many sponsors.

PROGRAM: Thursday, January 16 2:30 PM Registration 3:00 Industry Careers panel - covering careers in all facets of agriculture.

6:00 Trade show opens 7:00 Early Bird Seminar Students will also have the opportunity to visit with college exhibitors during the program. Following formal program, students and advisors are invited to the Early Bird Seminar along with having the opportunity to visit with over 65 commercial exhibitors at the trade show.

Following Jr Meeting Sat. at State Convention we will have a short meeting for those planning to attend National Convention this year and compete along with their parents. We want to get started planning!

Tours and Events available include: Hershey Amusement Park, Amish to English (farms, restaurants, and New Holland Equipment), Trainride through Amish countryside, Cows to Cones (farm tours and creamery visit), Farms like: Windy-KnollView, Mercer Vue, Burdette Ironworks, Brook Corner Holsteins.

Lots to see and do, so plan now to attend!

ELIGIBILITY: Any Registered Holstein female (87%RHA or higher) born in Missouri and bred by a member of the Missouri Holstein Association that was born between Sept. 1, 2018 and Aug. 31, 2019 is eligible for the 2022 3-Yr Old Sho-Me Futurity.

FEES:

One-Time Nomination Fee of $25.00 Due February 1, 2020

Renomination and futurity entry due August or September depending on sale date.

SHOWING: In order to be eligible for any part of the purse, fees must have been made by the required date and the animal must be exhibited in a special 3 Year-Old Futurity Class to be scheduled during the year 2022.

PURSE: The purse in this 2022 Three Year-Old Futurity Class shall consist of all monies received by the Missouri Holstein Association as Nomination Fees, less any incidental expenses incurred for its promotion and management.

The purse shall be divided as follows: 1. Production Awards - $100.00 will be taken from the purse and divided among the top three cows shown in the 3-Year-Old Futurity Class on the basis of their 305 day 2-YearOld Milk production. Only official DHIA or DHIR records will be considered and these records must accompany the animal and be checked by the committee before the show. The $100.00 will be divided as follows: $50.00, $30.00, $20.00 to the cow with the first, second & third highest actual 2-Year-Old milk record respectively.

2. Showing Awards - The purse minus the $100.00 production award - minus any other authorized expense shall be divided among the first twenty placings in the special 3-YearOld Sho-Me Futurity Class:

1st Place............................................................................... 20 percent

3rd Place.............................................................................. 9 percent

4th Place ............................................................................. 8 percent

5th Place ............................................................................. 6 percent

NO REFUNDS: All nomination fees are committed to the purse and no refunds will be made unless for some reason the Futurity Show is cancelled.

TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF ELIGIBLE ANIMALS: Any animal sold after being nominated initially will remain eligible provided the subsequent fees are paid as specified. In all cases, the responsibility of making required payments is the responsibility of the owner.

GENERAL: The Missouri Holstein Association through its elected officers is sponsoring and governing the Futurity and will make all decisions not covered by these rules. However, they will not be responsible for accident or injury to animal or person in connection with the show.

ELIGIBILITY: Any Registered Holstein female at least 87%RHA born in Missouri and bred by a member of the Missouri Holstein Association that was born between Sept. 1, 2018 and Aug. 31, 2019 is eligible for the 2022 3-Yr Old Sho-Me Futurity.

PURPOSE: The Missouri Holstein Futurity is a segment of the Missouri Holstein Association to stimulate interest in the breeding and exhibiting of outstanding Registered Holsteins in Missouri. Recognizing the accomplishments of the large and small breeder, and those of junior association members.

Farm Standards change 1/1/20 Significant changes to this revision

In our continued efforts to streamline the registration process, we are excited to announce that, effective December 9, 2019, recovery and implant dates as well as recipient ID will no longer be required to register calves resulting from embryo transfer (ET) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Updates have been made to the EASY ID software (December 2019 version) to no longer require these fields and customers are urged to download this latest version so that applications can be processed as efficiently as possible. The latest EASY software is always available for free download at: www.holsteinusa.com/software/software. html.

Ear Tag Price Change:

• Effective January 1, 2020, Holstein Association USA, Inc. will increase ear tag, ear tag accessories and tissue sampling unit (TSU) prices by 4 percent.

January 1, 2020 will mark the first price increase in 25 years across the entire tag offering.

•Orders submitted by December 31, 2019 will be at current tag prices.

The FARM Animal Care Program standards are revised every three years to reflect the most current science and best management practices within the dairy industry. On January 1, 2020 the 4.0 changes will take effect and MU Extention wants you to be prepared!

Many of you likely recall signing something, “awhile back” for the FARM 3.0, since all dairy producers shipping Grade A milk fall under the umbrella of this National program endorsed by the National Milk Producer’s Federation.

Some of the Significant Changes:

• If tail docking is found, immediate action to cease the practice.

• Standards that generate a Mandatory Corrective Action Plan --

ranging from veterinarian engagement (Veterinarian-Client-PatientRelationship and herd health plan review), calf care, non-ambulatory, euthanasia and fitness to transport management practices-- will need to be addressed within nine months of the evaluation.

• 95% or more of lactating cows observed do not have broken tails.

• Calves receive colostrum within 6 hours • Pain mitigation provided for disbudding & prior to 8 weeks of age.

• All pre-weaned calves (heifers and bulls) receiving a volume and quality of milk or milk replacer to maintain health, growth and vigor until weaned or marketed?
