8.3 Spatial Configuration:
8.2 Compactness: The campus seems dispersed low dense campus so that there is a long travel time between the different campus facilities Thus, this reduces the ease of walking from one place to another, limiting the sense of community, and diminishing the sense of place and identity

The campus can be classified as a hybrid campus. On the one hand, most of its buildings appear as a free standing objects On the other hand, the building blocks have been well set and also have a strong character

OMDURMAN WADI SAYDNA ROAD N N Morphological Analysis
8.1 Land use Organization: The campus has the characteristics of both zoned and mixed campus. The teaching blocks, lecture theaters, library, and administration are centered in the middle of the campus while one of the lecture theaters is in adjacency to another facilities in the south of the campus In addition, the students’ hostels are located at the eastern part of the campus The southwestern part of the campus contains the staff houses Facilities such as the clinic, kindergarten, students’ club, and the schools are in the south of the campus. Moreover, stores, workshops, buffets, and toilets are dispersed around the campus
● The coverage area is 25775 71 m2 which represents 7 18% of the the gross campus area 6

● It is noticed that the administration a single story building is placed at the end of the main route of the campus which starts from the campus main gate. thus, its position represents a focal point.

The repositioning of the on campus living (staff houses and students' hostels) can play a role of a magnet which can contribute positively in enhancing the walkability an the sense of community on the campus 8
Campus Housing Map Scale 1:3000 8.5 Campus Living: The livable campus is an appropriate description for the campus due to the on campus living which includes staff houses and students hostels.
The campus is considered as an isolated campus which has no any connectivity with the street network of the surrounding area. The campus is gated and has an only main entrance from Al Wadi Street which bounds the campus from the west 8.4 Connectivity: Movement Classification: The movement inside the campus encompases the movement of both pedestrians and vehicles. Design Guideline: a) More access with controlled entrances should be added in order to connect the surrounding nieghborhood with the campus. b) a collector route should be provided to collect all campus parts together. c) enhancing the quality of both foot and vehicle path In addition, bicycle lanes can take place.
Staff houses (7518.24 m²) Students' hostels (5746 86 m²)

Design Guideline: More housing typologies should be added especially for teaching staff houses. This is due to that there are only 9 staff houses available.

Trees and Green Areas Map Scale 1:3000 Design Guideline: Enhancing the quality of landscape and more shading trees should be planted to create lively open spaces. Also, native trees must be preserved.

Shading trees are cultivated along the main route making a well defined shaded access. Furthermore, many shading trees appear in different parts of the campus
● Context is the character and setting of the area with in which a projected scheme will sit; the forms of the settlements, buildings and spaces. Context also includes people, the individuals living in or near an area. Athorough appreciation of the overall site context is the starting point for designing a distinct place We need a good study of the context to (1) strengthening local communities, (2) creating place of distinction, (3) harnessing intrinsic site assets and resources, (4) integrating with surroundings, (5) ensuring feasibility, and (6) providing vision. 9
1) mixed use development should take place along Al Wadi Street and the campus boundaries
The town gown relationship with the adjacent neighborhoods is limited to admission opportunities provided to surrounded neighborhoods’ pupils in the schools affiliated to the campus.
8.6 Greenness: It might be described as green campus and has green areas However, the campus suffers from lack of quality landscape
.
8.7 Context: The campus is an Urban Campus located in an urban area It is bounded by Al Wadi street and Ahmed Sharfi cemetery from the west It is also surrounded by neighborhoods from the other three directions. The campus has long boundaries without any mixed use development that is needed to create a strong relationship between the campus and its surrounding
Context Map Scale 1:8000 Design Guideline:
2) Creating place and buildings such as theaters that reflects the indiginous culture to strengthen the relationship and partnering with the surrounding communities

• Administrative Use: Limited to the other units.
• Academic use: The Faculty of Education and the library should be preserved and have the ability to expand in their current location. The new centers for Distance Learning and Educational Technology should be added. In addition, the school of Additional Studies is to be added after being transferred from the central campus.
• Housing Use: The Teaching Staff housing, male students’ housing, and female students’ housing should be preserved. Students’ housing should expand in its surrounding Area and should also contain housing opportunities for postgraduate students (according to the new investment system).
• Social use: Students’ club should remain and expand in its current location. A new teaching staff club and a one for workers have to be established Moreover, the buffets have to be redistributed

● Furthermore, the students hostels located in the middle and on the northeastern side of the campus should be preserved.
● A Foodball ground with a running track can be placed on the eastern side of the campus. In addition, a park can take place onn the western side of the campus where the football ground is currently located Furthermore, additional parking lots should be provided
10.2 Demolition:

11. Movement Strategy: ● More access with controlled entrances should be added in order to connect the surrounding nieghborhood with the campus ● A collector route should be provided to link all campus parts together ● Enhancing the quality of both foot and vehicle path. In addition to encouraging cycling within the campus.
13.2 Character: An assessment of the roles and rela onships of the area or site to its strategic context, together with an apprecia on of the individual characteris cs of form and the way a place is used, will lay the founda ons for a new unique integrated design response. The educa onal university campus has a strong character that came from a clear routs and unique buildings structure crea ng a favorable image in the memory.
