+UTOPIA THE FLOATING CITY TYRE - LEBANON MARCH - RIBA 2 2020-2021 By the mid of next century most of the world major cities will be flooded & island nations will drown below water level. Effected people will have to relocate & cities needs to cope with the rising seas by building sea walls & resist it as an option or not to resist it and float on it. Autopia, is derived from the word automation and utopia, where it envision an alternative place where progress is steadfast and measured by securing a better world for tomorrow. Autopia is the 4th industrial revolution driven by robots & technologies in shaping urban spaces & urban life in response to climatic, social & political challenges. As a climatic response, floating cities can provide an alternative way of living over the sea, where it ease the worlds housing crunch by providing housing alternative for crowded cities & provide offshore housing units that can be towed & assembled on site. More over it provide protection from natural disasters because of their lower centre of gravity & provide protection against harsh waves & wind. In addition, floating cities can use renewable resources to generate electricity by harvesting the power of the waves, the tides of the sea, thermal mass of the water, the power of the sun & the power of wind. Also it can self-sustain the food production from on land farms & under water 3D farming.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT -CRAFT CENTER TYRE-LEBANON 2016-2015 Tyre has been for a long time possess the making of purple color from the murex seashell and that Tyrian people are discoverers of this craft. They exported the craft to the world, but this craft became extinct and ceased to exist. The murex seashell developed for billion years and survived, natural form indicate that the form and the force always in sense of equilibrium. The concept is creating architectural form origination from seashell geometry done by studying the shell exterior shape and making section in the shell to reveal its interior shapes .The study of the interior of sea shell lead into an abstract geometric properties, these abstract properties described by mathematical relationship, and developed later into a built form.

+ MASAR MAKKAH/ KSA 2016 King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) Project is one of the most important development projects of an ambitious Government program to be implemented in Makkah by Umm Al Qura for Development and Construction Company.

The project is located in the western region of Makkah, extending 3,650 m from the western entrance of the Grand Mosque leading to Jabal Omar. The total area of the project is around 1.2 Km2.The project works include 9 Km of roads, a 60m wide pedestrian boulevard, public realm, street furniture, retail facilities, landscape and hardscape, 4 multi-story public parking structures, bridges, overpasses, underpasses, highway structures, retaining walls, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) facilities/infrastructure, metro stations and lines (core and shell) and utilities including water distribution and collection systems, firefighting system, storm drainage system, electrical, mechanical and telecommunication networks.

Key tasks: - Landscape development -Space planning of the BRT and the regional bus station (Core & Shell) -Space planning and architecture finishing design of pedestrian underpasses -Architecture finishing of vehicular tunnels (design of sidewalks and walls) -Architectural Design of fly over bridges .

A 02.

The primary space of the scheme is the central boulevard. This is the main processional route which will at peak times accommodate large numbers of pedestrians. Ease of movement is a key consideration in the design of this space and the layout is formal with an evolving pattern of waves along the route.

The furniture within this primary space is located within a buffer zone on either side of the central zone of the Boulevard to minimise interruption of pedestian flow.

The paving pattern is a consistent theme of the design and the street furniture needs to compliments it. The street furniture proposed is simple and practical in layout and design using high quality, durable and aesthetically-pleasing materials.

The design reveals an architectural enhancement approach to the predesigned structural bridges considered as a main gateway to Mekkah and entrance to KAAR project An iconic scheme was presented to emphasize on the transition of “approaching” to “being” in the HOLY CITY, reflected through the dynamic –wavy movement along the bridge which is maintained in the diversity between the systematic distribution of ribbed structure with fixed significant panels of gradient pattern, and the split sections with transition ribs at defined intervals allowing for additional transparency.

+ PEDESTRIAN TUNNELS MAKKAH/ KSA 2017

D02.

Pedestrian Underpass is part of the Highway Structures packages included in the KAAR Project. 11 underpasses, which connect 60 m wide Grand Pedestrian Boulevard with the North or South Road. The underpass comprises a cut-and-cover pedestrian underpass tunnel and two building pop-up entrance structures. These entrance buildings from both sides are typical; approx. 7 m x 21 m and the tunnel is approx. 6 m x 113 m long.

The design basis of this PDU was provided by Atkins drawings that were used as Reference Design, in order to develop the schematic architectural design. The development of the architectural layout is performed in continuative coordination with the structural and MEP design works.

+ EL MTYRY VILLAS KSA 2017 The project included a residential compound comprising 6 villas laid out on 6 parcels in Riyadh. The design of villas was based on six prototype layout conceived to suite the variable conditions of each parcel. The scope included the Architectural and the full engineering design services, from the concept design stage of the project up to the tender document.

+ VERDUN RESIDENTIAL TOWERS BEIRUT / LEBANON 2017 “Verdun Residential Towers” project is a residential complex in Verdun, Beirut, Lebanon and consists of a high-rise apartment tower and a midrise apartment building. This “luxury living” project is built on 1329 square meters of land with the main tower reaching a height of 49 meters, allowing for a panoramic view to the sea.

The main tower consists of -14stories and the second of -9stories, both are linked at their first 5 levels having a total built-up are of circa 9625 m2. Also the building comprises four basement levels, having a total builtup area of 4392 m2, where each apartment is provided with a storage room and parking spaces.

+ REHABILITATION OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS MOUNT LEBANON 2018 As part of the development plan for Lebanese public school capacities for Syrian refugee children including disadvantaged Lebanese children, the German Governmental Organization GIZ aims to refurbish/ rehabilitate some selected public schools in close cooperation with the Lebanese “Ministry of Education and Higher Education” MEHE ,Amatour, Majdel Banna & Zouk Mousbeh Mixed Public Schools were the 3 selected schools in Mount Lebanon for the rehabilitation works under the design and supervision of SETS (the consultant) to achieve a proper level of restoration for the main components of the building, that satisfies the clients’ requirements/ needs, and meets the owner’s expectations, under a constraint of the limited budget that is allocated by GIZ. Checking & recommendation to existing building structure -Internal rehabilitation works Façade treatments-Review of the safety measuresConsider for new concepts related to environmental- friendly designs (green buildings Innovative design ideas related to student – friendly & social aspects).

+ THUMAMAH ROAD CORRIDOR ARRIYADH-KSA 2017 Arriyadh Development Authority intends to upgrade the Thumamah Road from its current status, as a “major arterial” in the City, to an “urban freeway” standards, in line with the recommendations of the Metropolitan Development Strategy for Arriyadh. The Joint Venture SETS - AYESA is commissioned to design the western section of Thumamah Road which extends between King Khaled Road and the Eastern Ring Road. This section is 18 Km long and includes 10 grade-separated interchanges.

+ PRINCE TURKEY ROAD KHOUBAR - KSA 2018 Khobar is a city with multiple lifestyle centers and shopping malls, the city also has the Corniche - Prince Turki Road, which is lined with several international and local chain of restaurants, coffee bars, hotels and many attractions.Prince Turki Road represents the “Corniche Road”, located to the proximity of the city waterfront, of a length around 3.2 Kilometers and a 78 m right-of-way and composed of -4lanes carriageway and -3lanes service roads in each direction connected through entrance / exit slip ramps.In line with the kingdom vision 2030 the SETS approach was to work on the humanization of the road thru the following measures: Adding bus routes/stations-Adding a bike lanes-Adding pedestrian crossings-Enhancement of sidewalks-Creating unique identity for the road thru landscape design by designing themed elements like sidewalks, benches, shading elements, water features, etc

+ Sheikh Jaber Road Extension ARRIYADH - KSA 2017 The Saudi Ministry of Transport launched a number of road design projects around the Kingdom in accordance with the 20 year prioritization program for primary and secondary roads. The Second Ring Road Link (Sheikh Jaber Road Extension) in Riyadh region, between Dammam Road and Prince Salman Road (15 km) was one of the primary roads that were studied and designed by SETS .

Key Tasks: -Contribution to the landscape design for interchanges, roundabouts, medians, sidewalks…

-Contribution to the presentation of the landscape concept -Preparation of Bills of Quantities for each of the interchanges -Coordination between Road and Arch trades, Coordination between Structure –Road.

+ PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES BEIRUT / LEBANON 2019 On Alfred Nakkash road in the heart of Beirut, there are two vital locations that requires continuous crossing between both sides of road which are Hotel Dieu Hospital and AUST university. Due to the road layout with steep slope and curvature, the safety of pedestrians became of high concern, and need for solution for the crossing problem become critical need. The subtle twisting form is comprised of straight lines, with aluminum strips placed in a staggered way to create the illusion of a curve. The peripheral twist also has an imposing effect on the interior, where it creates a petal-like form mid-way through the visitor’s journey across the bridge. In doing so it provides an effective transition from one side of the road to another.

+ BEIRUT TRANSPORT BEIRUT LEBANON 2017 The Governorate and the Municipality of Beirut plan to develop a bicycle network along a track that extends for a road length of 8 kilometres in Beirut Central Zone.The selected track runs along: Waygand, Bab Idriss, Omar Daouk, John Kennedy, Bliss, Najib Ardati, Zaki Mazboudi, Salaheddine Al Ayoubi, Al Qalaa, Leon (Emile Edde), Spears, General Fouad Chehab, Maurice Barres, El Amir Bachir, Bechara El Khoury and Riyadh El Solh Streets.

SETS carried out the necessary planning and design for the proposed bicycle network with a scope that includes: Bicycle network design with the associated routes, intersections and onstreet parking design.

+ AL ARISS DEVELOPMENT BEKAA / LEBANON 2017 Given the nature of real-estate development and ever changing market, the team adopted a flexible approach to Master Plan Design whereby the different land sizes (10,000 & 5,000 ,3,000 ,1,200) can be accommodated A 7 Strategic themes were translated into Master Plan Concepts. The approach to deciding on the optimal typology follows 2 tracks. The first track is design related and aims at maximizing the potential of the plots in terms of areas and at the same creating value through design while the second deals with the market demand in terms of sizes and preferences.

The Prime Development will house a series of 10,000 sqm parcels.

Keeping with the flexibility of the master plan, the configuration will allow multiple typologies ranging from Gated Communities to Row Housing or Apartments.

Determining the optimal development strategy for the Land by connecting it to the city netwrok & engagement with adjacent urban fabric.Influencing the whole surrounding and creating an address for the future.

+ ICONIC MOSQUE EMAAR - ABU DHABI 2018 Mosques, being a place of worship for Muslims, typically incorporate traditional designs and strict structure including dome and minarets. But with the world turning to contemporary design, mosque are form of architecture that can be interpreted through modern design that includes structure that resonates a contemporary aesthetics.The design aim to create a mosque that is appropriate to place and time, where the sacred space should be in the 21st century in the context of Dubai, creating a space of contemplation and a place to question some of the norm.The design inspired by the natural forms of sand dunes in the desert, where dune formation, movement and migration are similar to the tribe’s movement. Where tribes had no permanent shelters they used to do their prayers in the open air, and using tents and sand dunes as a shading cover from the sun and protection from the prevailing sand winds.

+ FUTURE OF SHADE SUNBRELLA - LEBANON 2017 Syria’s civil war has created the worst humanitarian crisis of our time 11 million people — have been displaced from their homes. Displaced People are still living in structures that are hazardous to their health, insufficient for normal day activity, and socially unacceptable. With the rising numbers of victims and the slow response of governments to provide solutions, a new typology must be designed. The new typology is to Create a temporary settlement that displaced people are incapable of doing, a settlement that have housing units with there facilities. These units can be delivered by land, sea or sky directly to the effected location. It can be mounted on truck, ship or air plane that would be towed to the site from remote storage locations and ready for immediate occupancy. A flat-pack proposed with folding structure on the sides, that allows the ease of shipment where it takes less space in storage and provides the possibility of dissembling and reassembling in rapid way.

+ RETREAT LEBANON 2020 I am living in a country suffering from economic crisis, severe pandemic and witnessed lately atomic like bomb, that I was luckily to survive. Due to these events. I was planning to design and construct my own cottage and retreat, to pull me back from regular life, regroup; re-energize & keep creative flame alight.

Due to high inflation rates and these events, I’m driven to create a retreat with the lowest cost by using locally available materials and avoiding to the minimum, to import materials. The retreat is an isolation and closure to nature because of its openness to the surrounding it is a step out of busy schedule and step into space and time. It consists of, living space, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, with built up area equal to 30 m2. Raised on footings to goes willingly with nature that allows greenery, breeze and waves to flow beneath. Also it’s resilient to withstand disasters and protect their habitant.

+ VILLA ABED EL LATIF MOUNT LEBANON - LEBANON 2019 Set in a wooded site in Mount lebanon , the building weaved discreetly below the tree line and take advantage of commanding views of the surrounding mountains. The collaborative effort with the client transformed a long-held family property into a legacy destination where the harmony between built structure and site results in a completed project that feels as if it has been in situ for years. The primary residence is carefully slipped into a tall grove of mature pine and oak trees, to assist in establishing a dynamic of minimizing tree loss and maximizing views to the mountains beyond. A simple and restrained materials palette of stone and concrete are used throughout the project, reflecting the native environment.

+ VILLA ALADDIN MOUNT LEBANON - LEBANON 2018 Located in an established neighbourhood, this single-family residence is a modernist reinterpretation of the Islamic and Lebanese home the clients desired. Nestled amongst neighbouring houses and a landscape of mature trees, the residence maintains a sense of privacy and offers this young family reprieve from the bustle of daily activities.A relationship shared between residence and site—the house takes full advantage of the site.

While windows and doors fill interiors with air and light, they also frame views of the diverse flora surrounding the home. The house is composed of a central living and communal space. This common area, which includes a modest kitchen and place for family gathering, connects three story volumes, each containing a variety of private and functional spaces. With views from every room, one’s eye is easily drawn outside, where a linear pool were located in a close space in the basement .

+ VILLA ABED MOUNT LEBANON - LEBANON 2018 Sited in the foothills of the Lebanese mountains, this single-family residence floats over a hillside with commanding views over the sea and mountains.

The intent was to design an extremely restrained home both in scale and cost that intimately embraces the terrain near and far.Two modest volumes, benched gently into the hillside, open to a floating glass bar just as the ground drops away. Allows for a layered sequence of heightened sensorial experience, moving from grounded enclosure to revelation and suspension over the valley floor. The design appropriates outdoor space, using screened openings, operable glass walls, and generously shaded decks to create a gradual transition from the wild natural landscape to a materially warm interior.

+ HILL PARK MOUNT LEBANON - LEBANON 2019 Park and Plaza design for the village of daraya in mount lebanon, was designed as open public space with a water element as focus point.

Seating in terrazzo, palm trees and the dune like terrain offsets the main feature in clear forms. A simple and modern landscape design for the locals of villages and its surrounding. With indigenous flora, like Lavenders and evergreen shrubs. With stepping stones connecting the linear design of local parking area, framed with patterned planting.

+ UNDER THE BRIDGE BEIRUT - LEBANON 2017 A Forgotten Space is any enclosed space between buildings or under bridges that is ignored and undervalued they have a negative effect on the environment, the social relations, the image and the identity of the city itself.

Forgotten spaces in Beirut specifically under bridges, and water fronts, these spaces have a shape but no definition. The design to be implemented under the bridge of General Fouad Chehab will include a contemporary scene that symbolizes the destruction that took place in central Beirut during the Lebanese war and the resurrection and reconstruction of Beirut after the war . The Idea behind this project in this particular site is due to the fact that it was a point of contact during the war between two warring areas in addition to being a main entrance to the center of Beirut and connects 4 main Beirut outlets and areas. Objective is to remind the Lebanese people of the devastation that happened due to there division, furthermore to demonstrate the strength and resilience that strove to rebuild, and of the population that reemerged after all the destruction.

The project intended to revive the forgotten monuments in the heart of the city , dating back to the early roman period ( 1st century B.C) . The site include : A sancturay ; Roman period houses ; Roman Temple ( 2nd century B.C) Byzantine basilica ( 498 A.D ) and Roman period olive press .

3D PRINT MASK WORLD WIDE 2019 COVID19 pandemic, caused a shortage in PPE “Personal protective equipment”. Medical professionals are heroically serving the public without proper face masks, because they don’t have them and can’t get them. To solve the problem of mask shortage. A proposed iteration of 3d printable and reusable face mask, that is capable of custom fitted to users face and sanitized in between usage. The 3d print iteration is: •Easy print No raft or support is needed during printing.•Low cost with the minimum use of material.•Comfortable & agronomic where it perfectly fits different face forms.•Recyclable the use of plastic material during print can be disposed and recycled•Reusable face mask .It can be used in daily basis and sanitized between usages.

The mask consists of two parts the mask structure and filter holder and doesn’t include the filter required to protect against the virus.
