hatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation caused by addiction, hosted its second annual benefit at Richards. Over 250 supporters came out to lend their support, and the event raised over $675,000. Larry Leeds, chairman of Buckingham Capital, was given the 2018 Brian Mendell Award, named in honor of Shatterprooof founder and CEO Gary Mendell’s son who passed away in 2011 after a long struggle with addiction. Leeds lost his son, Cary, to addiction and opened the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning. Dave Price, of WNBC-NY, served as the emcee for the evening. The cochairs were Joanie and Maurice Reznik, Megan Flanigan and Rick Swift. shatterproof.org 
