Hello! I’m Moes

A critical thinking, quick on his feet, adaptable, jack-of-all trades kinda guy!

I’ve only been in the design world for a few years but I’m keen to get out in the world and see what it has in store for me. I love to be hands on and make physical, 3D objects that everyone can see and interact with! (I can also do Cadding and 3D building software) Don’t worry, I love to create graphic pieces too, making sure that whatever I do, everyone can enjoy. Gathering new skills and information is what I love! No matter what it may be, from making models to creating a mobile app, I enjoy the thrill of absorbing anything that I learn!

Now for abit more about myself. I am a total ambivert, I love to hangout with loads of people and network but I do cherish the relfective, solitary moments. Yeap, I do enjoy playing video games but i think they are a great way to stimulate the brain as it trains you to process a bunch of info in a snap. I can also understand and speak 2 other languages other than english, it being Mandarin and Malay!

So say hi when you see me! Don’t be a stranger!

Main Logo Secondary Logo

The main focus of the new logo is the circle encompassing the Logotype, which has also gone under a colour change. The circle represents the community that Naiise Ventures wants to build in Singapore with local designers and makers.

The 5 main colours of Naiise Ventures are made up of 1 existing colour, Black, which is retained from the old logo and 4 new colours that seek to show the new direction of the company and their stive to be diverse, fresh and lively.

Logo Redesign

Naiise Ventures was born out of Naiise Pte Ltd, taken over by a new owner and CEO. I had the honour of redesigning their logo, keeping in mind that they wanted to retain some of the history of Naiise in the logo but update it to give it a new and refreshed look, one that signalled a new direction for the local company.

My logo redesign has been successfully incorporated into their online e-commerce platform and all of their social media channels.

Social Media Design

After redesining the Logo for Naiise Ventures, they gladly pulled me onboard to manage their social media pages. The job scope involved me creating graphic designs for special occasions - such as Christmas, Chinese New Year and Hari Raya - and sales periods.

The main role I had to play however was to manage their social media platforms on a day to day basis, having to post content from our website to push sales and drive traffic to it.

Graphic Design for Social Media and Daily postings

These were part of the launch of Naiise Ventures Pte Ltd. I was tasked to also reintroduce some of the brands that came along with us from the existing company.

These are just a few of my graphic designs so far. All of them are created from scratch, based on the season and what’s in trend. I hoped to apture the eye of would-be customers so that they’d understand what Naiise is all about!

And these are examples of my daily postings. Learning to schedule and post at impactful timings was one of the challanges I faced while working for Naiise. Trying to play to the algorithm but also post at timing where people were active was a new challenge for me, as I had not experienced managing a social media account before.

2020 Project:

Stained: An Episode of the M1 Youth Theatre Festival 2020

This project was for a theatre production in the M1 Youth theatre festival 2020 titled: What If. For this particular episode, “Stained”, I worked with my partner, Oliver Piong, to develop a series of visuals which were edited into a video to tell the story of a disabled person’s relationship with her mother.

The entire set of visuals were experimentations of how ink reacted to certain liquids. Oliver and I shot the visuals together but edited them separately into 3 parts, Growth, Mess and Acceptance. (I edited growth and a bit of acceptance).

You can watch the episode by scanning the QR code provided! Do note that it can be watched in 2 ways. One with just the visuals only and without the audio. Then another with both visuals and audio (edited by Ng Sze Min) together. Scan here

to watch the show!

The making of “Stained”

The visuals of the entire episode was a complete experimentation of how ink reacted with certain liqiuds and how it spread around. We delved into the connotations of each reaction, splicing it into the final video which gave the story a fitting visual orchestra.

Naiise Iconic @ Jewel: Christmas 2020, Chinese New Year 2021 & 2021 General Window display

I started to work at Naiise a local brand that sells local products from local designers. I was brought on to assist with their general VM and window display for their store in Jewel Changi Airport. Now most of the time, I had little to no capital to produce a top notch window display, but I was resourceful and used whatever VM props they had to make a display that captured the eyes of passers-by.

2020/21 Project: One app

Teenagers in Singapore are showing increasingly negative emotional and mental states. This presents challenging situations for parents when dealing with their children. One is an app that seeks to encourage parents to focus on family connectedness and boosting their teens confidence which are key to maintaining a healthy mental balance in teens. This project will try to nip the problem in the bud, before any negative thoughts can occur within teens.

Parents are encouraged to take a highly positive outlook on life, along with their children. This encourages a focus on uniting the family as one. With easy to use planning functions to a collaboration with Klook, the one app is a versatile tool parents can use to achieve that strong bond!

2019/20 Project: Somersby Strawberry Cider Campaign

For this assignment, I did an advertising campaign for Somersby, the cider makers. I gave them a new product to advertise and launch. The entire campaign is targeted at females with the flavour of the cider being strawberry, a typically feminine flavour. Thus, the campaign has a cute and playful vibe with quirky elements in all of the advertising and touch-points with “Uncover your sweet and playful side. Isn’t that wonderful” as the main tagline of the campaign.

Linking up with the key words of “sweet” and “playful”, the overall design of the event is made with elements of the words in mind. For example, the stage is designed with elements that capture playfulness, like the emojis.

Alongside the advertising campaign, there would be a physical event to attract people to the new flavour. That’s why I chose the singer, Dua Lipa, to be their brand ambassador to come to Singapore to do a concert for Somersby, creating awareness for the brand.

Along with the concert venue, there would be many areas to which the audience can try out the new Strawberry Cider and also chill out and have fun in. Included in the floorplans are places like this popup booth below, where people can get their Somersby fix!

2019/20 Project:

Exhibition Design and Curatorship

The “FORD: Then. Now. Future.” exhibition was a project in which I had to design and curate an exhibition to be held in the Art Science Museum in Singapore. This exhibition is a tribute to the Ford Motor company and it’s contriubtion to the world. It also focused on Ford’s vision for the future of automobiles and smart cities.

2D

to 3D in scale

The floorplan of the final exhibit had to be drafted out first in illustrator to give me a sense of what I could fit in the given space and how to manipulate it. This was my first time drafting out a floorplan and also doing it in scale.

This was also my first foray into 3D modelling software. I had to learn on the go as I slowly put together the final model with all the correct textures and materials rendered in exactly they way I wanted it to look

2019/20 Project:

Retail Experential & Spatial Design

Tasked to create an innovative and creative retail solution for a mature HDB estate, I came up with the idea of bringing Wine Connection to this new market, equipped with the latest in retail technology. I aimed to bring a highly phygital experience to the Empress Mall area, allowing customers to have an epicurean experience combined with the digital experience of an online platform.

Models, mockups and materials

This project was another exploration into the world of scale models. We started off with the floorplan above and went onto elevation drawings of the space. After that, we went on to make a 1:20 scale mockup of the space using foam boards. This was useful for us to get the bearings of the space better before we went on to make the final more polished model with scale furnitures and fixtures.
