About the only thing the Moeller and Lakota boys soccer teams ~on't have in common these days ~re their respective school colors. Beyond that, it is very hard to tell the two teams apart. The big ~ifference: Moeller is the Division [-Cincinnati I district champion after knocking off the Thunderbirds, 2-0, at Sycamore High School. Moeller, the Enquirer city champion this season, will play Centerville Wednesday in the regional semifinals at Lakota. The Elks beat Beavercreek, 2-0, Satur-

day. Anderson won the city's other Division I district championship, knocking off La Salle, 5-0. The Redskins play Wayne on Wednesday at Centerville High School in the other regional semifinal. The similarities between the Crusaders and their counterparts at Lakota are quite striking, if one considers the recent history of the two teams. Moeller coach Randy Hurley coached under Lakota's Steve Cummins. Both of Hurley's assis-

tants are graduates of Lakota. Five of the Moeller starters are from the West Chester area. '"We knew this would be a very emotional game because of the connections," Hurley said. "Because of that, I expected this game to be anything but perfect, and it wasn't. If it was, I would have been shocked." The Crusaders (18-0-1) received goals from Greg Ruebusch and Brian Miller in each half in pulling out the win against Lakota, which was ranked No. 5 in the Enquirer coaches poll. It was the first Moeller win against Lakota after two consecu-

tive losses in the district tournament, the most recent coming last fall when the Thunderbirds won, 2-1, in overtime. . ' "We just didn't finish anything off tonight," Cummins said. "We let the first goal in, but the second one was my goal, because I had the team pushing up and they scored on us. Count that one against me." Ruebusch's goal was set up by senior Dave Necessary's rocket throw-in that Miller got a foot on before Ruebusch put it in the net. The final goal came when Moeller's Jim Frondorf pulled Lakota keeper Adam Snow. out of the net and got a shot off, which Miller

retrieved and scored on. The shutout for Crusader goalie Adam Lux was his 11th this year, a new single-season school record. ..,. Anderson. 5, La Salle 0, Division I district Championship at Anderson- Brent Rosser scored twice for the Redskins en route to a 5-0 shutout over La Salle. Ozgur Mert opened the scoring for Anderson 1:15 into the game. Rosser followed with another goal three minutes later as Anderson went to halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead. Anderson plays the winner of the Huber Heights Wayne-Dayton Carroll game Wednesday at 7 p.m.

at Centerville. ..,. Summit Country Day 5, Indian Hill 2, Division II district championship at Summit - The Silver ¡Knights exploded for three quick goals in the first half en route to their third consecutive district championship. ..,. Mason 6, Kings 2, Division II district championship at Kings - Bernard Stoppa scored off a pass from Ryan Miller in the first two minutes of the game, setting the stage for the Comet victory.
