He showed last year he was willing to do whatever it took to win, also finishing as Madeira's second-leading tackler from a linebacker position, servere ing as punter and returning kicks and kickoffs. "Last year was amazing," said Cohen, who adds this year's team goal is to get in the playoffs. "What happened gave us all so much confidence for this season."

so-Coach: Bernie Barre (19639) to-Will succeed if Richard Hall runs for more than 2,000 yards again this season, which, barring injury, would seem likely. Wyoming's system.has long been geared toward star running backs, but a strong senior finale would leave little doubt Hall was the greatest of them all. He'll get an additional boost with a big offensive line out in front of him, led by all-state candidate Matt Mefford at tackle and tight end Zach Novak. Wyoming ought to have the capability to throw this year, as well, with a capable arm in new quarterback Kyle Lewis and a talented wideout in Chris Carter. lo-Will struggle if depth becomes an issue, or a new, more aggressive approach on defense doesn't work out as planned. Most of Wyoming's top players will line up on both sides of the ball, including Hall at free safety and Mefford at defensive end. Linebacker Scott Cryder is another key to the defense. 0- Coach: Tom Crosby (15457-1) ►Will succeed it veteran coach Tom Crosby can get Mariemont back on track, as this is traditionally among the best small-school programs in the area. With only eight returning starters, the Warriors will have to do it with youth if it's to be done this year. Reassuring is the amount of experience taking care of the ball, as Jason Mondy returns for another year at quarterback and is joined in the backfield by running back Spencer Dunning, who gained more than 1,000 yards a year ago. Defensively, Mariemont should be led by defensive tackle Eric Shaner and linebacker Mike Dever. Kicker Conrad Hindert is another veteran returnee. p Will struggle if young players aren't ready for the roles thrust upon them. While Crosby says there is some talent among his underclassmen, this team only has 20 seniors and juniors to draw from, while there are 18 sophomores on the roster. players to make a go of it in his first year and many of those key players are back this year. Offensively, Josh Cohen was a find last year as a converted fullback who was effective running in traffic. He'll be a focus again. Jason Case is back at quarterback and"may look to throw more in Madeira's run-and-shoot setup. Two key players out front on both offense and defense are Andy Lumpkin and Joe Novakov. The top defender returning is linebacker Nick Groll, last year's leading tackler. ®Will struggle if the injury bug hits in the wrong places. Madeira only has about 33 players in its program, so there is not a lot of depth. Another question might be whether other programs will be more wary of Madeira after the success demonstrated last year.
