Letter from the President

It’s hard to believe we are already sharing our second issue of the “News Oasis” newsletter. I kick off this edition by extending my sincere thanks to all Boeing employees across the Kingdom for their hard work.

2015 has been a year of continued success and steady growth for Boeing from both a projects and capabilities perspective.

Boeing remains focused on continued growth in the Kingdom and committed to developing new industrial partnerships to further our legacy of supporting socioeconomic development across the nation.

This year, we were honored to host many executives from the Boeing Company in Saudi Arabia including Marc Allen, Boeing International President, John Tracy, Chief Technology Officer, Leanne Caret, GS&S president, and the Leaders for Second Century. The company investment in those visits demonstrates the importance of Saudi Arabia as a market for Boeing.

Also this year, Boeing continued to be an active member of the community in Saudi Arabia and supported a number of nonprofit organizations focused on education and health and human services.

The organizations and programs we’ve supported this year include

the learning disability program at the King Salman Center for Disability Research, the Hope Center for Exceptional Needs programs, King Abdulaziz Charitable Association for women development, Al-Nahda Women’s Philanthropic Society, Al Ihsan Medical Society, SANAD Society for Children with Cancer, Saudi INJAZ program to develop young Saudis, and Zahrah Association for Breast Cancer.

In addition, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to foster the culture of business ethics and anti-corruption, Boeing hosted an awareness lecture in collaboration with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) to its employees about awareness/education on Business Ethics and anti-corruption.

Finally, I would once again like to thank all of my Boeing colleagues in the Kingdom. Our success is due to all your collective efforts and dedication.

Letter from the SVP As we approach the end of another successful year for Boeing’s defense business in Saudi Arabia, I am very pleased with what we’ve achieved as a team this year and excited about what lies ahead in 2016. These past months have been about your commitment to staying the course and finding a way to achieve the established milestones for the Business. Our team and organization are chartered with a tremendous responsibility to define the future, set the bar high, and demonstrate personal and professional accountability for ourselves to our customers and our company. We have great examples demonstrating these values.

Over the last few months we signed an agreement with Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) and Alsalam Aircraft Company to create the Saudi Rotorcraft Support Center in the Kingdom. This joint venture will have locations in Riyadh and Jeddah and will provide comprehensive, in-country maintenance repair and overhaul support for Saudi Arabia’s diverse rotorcraft fleet. The joint venture will support the Kingdom’s commercial and defense rotorcraft platforms, including the Boeing-built AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and AH-6i. When it’s fully operational, the Saudi military will have a national asset that affordably enhances the readiness of their rotorcraft personnel and fleet. In 2015, we have increased our footprint and built a robust partnership with the Saudi armed forces. The potential to grow that footprint to several thousand employees is achievable. Whether you are working with customers to deliver on existing commitments, establishing new avenues for meeting customer needs through direct commercial contracting or proactively seeking professional development – you set the bar high everyday as leaders.

I am proud of to be part of this enthusiastic, motivated, dedicated and high achieving Boeing Saudi Arabia team - it is a privilege and a pleasure to work with you.

Dubai Airshow Highlights Middle East’s Importance

Boeing showcased a range of products and services at the show, including flydubai’s Next-Generation 737-800, Qatar Airways’ 25th 787 Dreamliner, the Maritime Surveillance Aircraft, the U.S. Navy’s P-8 Poseidon and the U.S. Marine Corps MV22, among others.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Boeing’s heritage goes back 70 years. Since then, Boeing has developed strong bonds with local partners and customers within Saudi Arabia by understanding the region’s needs and providing the right products and services.

The Middle East is a key market for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, underlining the growing confidence that airline customers in the region continue to place in Boeing products and services. Regional customers have responded well to new products such as the 737 MAX, which will deliver unsurpassed fuel efficiency in the single-aisle market, and the 777X, which will be the largest and most efficient twin-engine jet in the world. Meanwhile, the 777-300ER continues to form the backbone of many of the region’s leading airlines, and the 787 is considered the world’s most technologically advanced airplane with composite materials making up 50 percent of the primary structure by weight, including the fuselage and wing.

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is also expanding its regional footprint. Customers in the region operate a range of products including the F15, the AH-64 Apache, CH-47F Chinook helicopters, and C-17 Globemaster III military-transport aircraft.

The Arab Air Carrier Organization’s (AACO) 48th session Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid al-Faisal, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Adviser to the Emir of Mecca, and in the presence of His Excellency, the President of the General Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority Saudi Arabia, Sulaiman Al-Hamdan and Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser, Director General of Saudi Arabian Airlines, Boeing participated as a platinum sponsor at the recent Arab Air Carriers’ Organization’s (AACO) 48th General Assembly session, held in Jeddah.

The Boeing Company showcased its latest aviation technologies at the event and highlighted a range of its current products including the 787 Dreamliner, the 777X, the 777-300, as well as a video detailing the history of the company, its services, partnerships and global presence.

During the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization’s 48th General Assembly, Ahmed Jazzar, President of Boeing in Saudi Arabia said: “Sponsoring the event is a part of Boeing’s ongoing commitment to support the aviation industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This sponsorship demonstrates the importance of this event, which indicates the leading role played by Saudi Arabia in the region’s economy.”

Jazzar also pointed out that it is important for Boeing to sponsor events like the AACO’s 48th General Assembly session, as such events are critical for evolving the Kingdom’s and the region’s aviation industry as they allow for the demonstration and sharing of best practice from projects being built across the Arab world.

Boeing Leaders for Second Century visit Saudi Arabia

Recently, eight Boeing executives from a number of different business units and functions visited Saudi Arabia.

Boeing Leaders for Second Century, including Heidi Capozzi, Vice President of Leadership Talent Management Organization Effectiveness, Leanne Caret President, Global Services & Support, Defense, Space & Security, Ted Colbert, Chief Information Officer of The Boeing Company and Vice President of Information Technology, Brett C. Gerry, Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Kim Pastega, Vice President of Production System Operations for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Kevin Schemm, Senior Vice President of Finance, Business Operations & Strategy and Chief Financial Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Kim Smith, Vice President of Attack Helicopter Programs and Senior Site Executive, toured Boeing Saudi Arabia’s new headquarters and met

with Boeing Saudi Arabia executives to receive an overview of the ccompany’s strategy in the Kingdom.

The executive team went through a comprehensive program of both formal and informal activities; meeting with local customers and partners.

New Rotorcraft Support Company in Saudi Boeing has signed an agreement with Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) and Alsalam Aircraft Company to create the Saudi Rotorcraft Support Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Through in-country cooperation, the companies are focused on expanding the Saudi workforce through creation of self-sustaining jobs, technical skills development for local workers and further

involvement of the Saudi aerospace supply base.

This project will strengthen and diversify the Saudi nationals’ skills and provide long-term investment in our company’s future workforce, contributing to the Kingdom goals of localization, economic growth and transfer of state-of-the art technology and know-how.

‘Bird in a biplane’ lands in Riyadh

A British aviator has completed the Middle East leg of a 13,000-mile solo flight from the UK to Australia, as she attempts to recreate the 1930 journey of pioneer Amy Johnson in an open-cockpit light aircraft. Tracey Curtis-Taylor is flying a vintage 1942 Boeing Stearman ‘Spirit of Artemis’ aircraft across 23 countries, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the death of one of the world’s first female pilots.

Johnson, who died in 1941, flew solo from the UK to Australia in a Gypsy Moth named “Jason” in 1930.

Curtis-Taylor – the self-styled ‘Bird in a Biplane’ – began her estimated 14-week journey from the UK’s Farnborough airport on October 1st. She has flown the 300 horsepower, nine-cylinder Stearman through

France, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to Dubai.

From Dubai she flies on to Muscat, then Pakistan, Delhi, Singapore and finally Sydney, which she hopes to reach by January.

During her stop in Riyadh, Tracey had flown Prince Bandar bin Sultan’s daughter, Princess Reema, in the aircraft to promote her charity, 10KSA, which works to improve health equality between men and women in Saudi Arabia.

The Boeing Stearman biplane was originally used as a military aircraft in the US during the 1930s and 1940s.

Stearman Aircraft was acquired by Boeing in 1934.

Boeing deepen its partnership with Saudi Arabia

Global Services & Support and Phantom Works are collaborating with partners in Saudi Arabia to make important decisions about aviation in the Kingdom.

The Decision Support Center (DSC) in Riyadh is operated by Phantom Works International and King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology. One of five capabilities around the world, the Centers provide powerful analysis and simulation that can help customers, suppliers and other partners make better-informed choices about modernization, maintenance and interoperability of different aerospace platforms.

“The Decision Support Centers allow us to utilize sophisticated tools with our customers to address really complex problems,” said Global Services & Support President Leanne Caret, who toured the DSC as part of a visit to Saudi Arabia last month. “It’s a huge advantage for Boeing to be able to deliver that kind of insight and expertise to our customer right in their own backyard.”

Currently, Global Services & Support is using the DSC with an unspecified customer to predict the number of maintenance technicians required as its fleet of aviation assets expands. The same technology is also helping evaluate the use of advanced robotics at the production facilities of Alsalam Aircraft Company.

Support the Treatment of Children with Cancer

Partnering with Zahra Breast Cancer Association As part of its ongoing efforts to support the Kingdom’s development, Boeing has provided Zahra Breast Cancer Association with a financial donation to support the Association’s campaigns and initiatives. The funds will help to raise awareness levels and highlight the importance of early detections of breast cancer to women in KSA and provide “train the trainer” sessions for effective methods for early detection of breast cancer and promote regular breast cancer screening.

The donation will go towards organizing a training program on breast cancer detection techniques, partnerships with non-profit health organizations in Saudi Arabia and the set-up of breast cancer mobile detection booths in shopping centers in several cities to target local women with free screening.

Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Adila bint Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of SANAD Children’s Cancer Support Association, Boeing provided a donation of SAR 800,000 to the Association’s program for the treatment of children with cancer.

Princess Adila expressed her appreciation of the support provided by Boeing which highlighted the promotion of solidarity among members of the community. Her Highness also stressed the importance of Boeing partnerships and initiatives that support SANAD Children’s Cancer Support Association in achieving its goals to reach all children who suffer from cancer and help them and their families. Her Royal Highness stated, “The support from Boeing demonstrates the importance of partnerships and social responsibility within all sectors to serve the local community.”

The donation of funds came as part of a Boeing delegation visit to the SANAD Association’s headquarters in Riyadh which included Ahmed Jazzar, President of Boeing in KSA, Coleen Burke-Finney, Boeing Director of International Policy Integration, and Reem Al-Hujaylan, Director General of SANAD Children’s Cancer Support Association.

3rd Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Awards As part of the company’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of social responsibility in the Kingdom, Boeing sponsored the second edition of the CSR awards which took place as part of the annual CSR summit held in at the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah.

The summit was held under the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Jeddah, and aims to build bridges of communication between private sector enterprises and charitable and social agencies, as it provides a platform for companies to offer their experiences in the field of social responsibility, and to get an understanding of the most important community needs in terms of sustainable development projects.

It also, included several accompanying activities and training workshops cantered around the successful experiences of entrepreneurs and government and private sectors in the Kingdom.

Over the course of its 70 year history in the Kingdom, Boeing has been and continues to be an active member of the local community, as the company developed an integrated system to support development programs and continues to work with private and government organizations on community development for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
