- Solid brass hollow tubing, available as an option for most collections
- Solid oak wood towel rods in a hand-applied dark walnut finish, sealed with a satin clear protective coating
- High-quality, crystal clear lucite solid towel rods
We also use genuine semi-precious gemstones in select designs, bringing a luxury, custom feel to your space.

Lacquered Finishes

Unlacquered Finish
Unlacquered Brass: This is a living finish, intentionally left uncoated to develop a natural patina over time. How do I fit and install my bathroom hardware?
All Modern Matter bathroom hardware is delivered with complimentary mounting hardware for drywall and wood surfaces, along with installation instructions and templates. We recommend professional installation to ensure proper placement and secure mounting. If professional help isn’t available, please follow the installation guide and template included with your hardware. We recommend not pre-drilling your walls before receiving your hardware, instructions, and mounting templates to avoid improper installation.
Can I order bathroom hardware samples or finish swatches to match existing plumbing and fixtures?

How do I place an order for bathroom hardware?
You can purchase Modern Matter bathroom hardware through our website or at select showrooms. To order online:
1. Choose your preferred size, finish, and gemstone (if applicable) for the product.
2. Click Add to Cart.
3. When you’re ready to check out, click the shopping cart icon in the top-right corner of the page and follow the prompts to enter your delivery and payment information.
If you want to customize your hardware:
Use our Bathroom Hardware Configurator to personalize your design. Select your desired style, materials, size, finish, and gemstones. Once complete, add your custom piece to the cart and proceed to checkout as usual.
How do I care for my bathroom hardware?
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your Modern Matter bathroom hardware, we recommend regular dusting with a non-abrasive, lint-free, or microfiber cloth. For cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then dry thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish. For designs that include gemstones, lucite, or wood, gently clean with a slightly damp, non-abrasive cloth and mild soapy water, then dry immediately. Proper care will help preserve the finish and detail of each piece.
Is Modern Matter bathroom hardware ADA compliant?
Yes, select Modern Matter bathroom hardware items are ADA compliant when installed according to ADA guidelines. This includes proper height, spacing, and clearance requirements to ensure accessibility for all users. While our hardware is designed with functionality and style in mind, ADA compliance ultimately depends on correct installation. We recommend working with a licensed professional to ensure your space meets ADA standards.
Does Modern Matter bathroom hardware contain lead? Why does it come with a Proposition 65 warning?
Modern Matter hardware is crafted from solid brass, a durable and high-quality material that naturally contains trace amounts of lead. While the lead content is well within federally permissible limits, California’s Proposition 65 requires labeling for any detectable lead.

We want to reassure you that our hardware is safe when used as intended. The lead levels are extremely low and pose no significant risk under normal handling or installation.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Each piece of Modern Matter bathroom hardware is meticulously hand-assembled and made specifically for your order. Due to this bespoke craftsmanship, all sales are final and non-refundable. We understand that plans can change. Should you need to cancel or modify your order, please contact us at hello@ modern-matter.com within two (2) business days of your purchase. We will do our best to accommodate requests made within this timeframe. Regrettably, orders cannot be canceled or changed after this 48-hour window.
What is your returns and warranty policy?
All Modern Matter bathroom hardware products are made to order and are therefore non-returnable, unless they arrive damaged or faulty. For full details, please refer to our Returns & Warranty Policy.

We’re sorry to hear that. If your order arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@modern-matter.com. Our team will review the issue and work quickly to resolve it.
How long will my order take to ship?
All Modern Matter bathroom hardware is made to order and assembled at our warehouse in Virginia Beach. Orders are typically fulfilled within 5–7 business days and shipped via UPS Standard. If there is any unexpected delay, a member of our Customer Service team will contact you with an update. You may also receive email updates from our team for order delays or backordered items, so please make sure to add “hello@modern-matter.com” to your approved safe sender list so you can stay up to date on your orders.
Can I order replacement parts for my bathroom hardware?
At this time, we do not offer replacement parts, as all bathroom hardware items are made to order. However, if your item has a defect in material or workmanship, it may be covered under our warranty. For full details, please refer to our Returns & Warranty Policy.
How can I track my order?
You’ll receive an order confirmation email after placing your order. Please make sure to confirm your order, shipping address, and any special requirements upon receipt of your order confirmation email. Once your items ship, tracking information will be sent automatically to the email address provided at checkout. Do you offer payment terms?
Modern Matter does not offer direct payment terms. However, Shop Pay and PayPal—both available at checkout— provide installment payment options. Please note that these services are independent of Modern Matter and any terms or approvals are managed directly through those platforms.
Do you offer any special discounts or promotions for bathroom hardware?
