Upon completion of her Masters degree in Global Management from Regents University in London she returned to family business. TETIANA BOGUSLAVSKA Tetiana Boguslavska is a Ukrainian singer-vocalist, music teacher, model andactress. Since her childhood, Tetiana had only one dream - scene, music and vocals. Her first steps into the music world- were at music school at a very young age, where it has been a love at first sight with piano and singing. Learning French at school influenced her musical orientation towards French music and artists, and Dalida, Edith Piaf, Lara Fabian, Patricia Kaas - became among her favorite singers. It is the reason why her repertoire includes so many French songs. After her school years, Tetiana joined the conductor-choral faculty at the music college of her native city of Krivoy-Rog. During faculty years, she participated to many contests and musical tours across Europe. Tetiana’s permanent search for new music styles and possibilities, as well as her strong determination to develop her music capabilities, pushed her to join the world-renowned Kiev Conservatory - faculty of Opera singing, and to devote herself to classical music. She performed at many events in Ukraine and other European countries and she did even participate to the famous contest “the Voice”. During these years, Tetiana met many talented, creative artists and teachers, who developed even more her passion for music and her choice to become a music professional. This is why she is now so happy to share her knowledge with children, teaching them vocals and piano at schools. Tetiana lives now in Dubai where she is delighting us with her strong and absolutely charming voice. She strongly believes that music is permanent movement and development, and because of this she never limits herself to

one music style. Therefore, her repertoire is very large and include many different styles - from classical music, to French chansons, Portuguese Fado, jazz, pop and rock. She is always ready to experiment new things in music. Currently she is preparing a new project with the participation of DJ, combining classic vocals, music trance and house. “Music is for me, the air I breathe” - says Tetiana. We are waiting for Tetiana’s new performances, new projects and wish her success in her career.

Engineer by profession, make-up artist by passion. Many of my clients are often shocked and surprised when they find out that I come from an engineering background. We all have something in our lives that we remember with perfect clarity the first time we discovered it. It could be that Barbie doll that was like your twin sister or the video game you could never get enough of. For me, it was cosmetics. I always knew that designing and arts were my biggest strengths in college. However, giving in to my parent’s wishes, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. I know what it is like to feel stressed out as a university student and put in all your efforts into a major that you’re not even interested in. But, I also know what it is like to follow your dreams. Right after graduation, I decided to settle down and venture into the field of make-up and cosmetics once again. The limited career opportunities as a professional make-up artist in Pakistan did not dishearten me and I launched my own start-up – The Blush Lounge. Through make up, I can transform the appearances and personalities of my clients and leave them happy and content. Every day, I learn more about cosmetics, my clients and even about myself. I feel challenged and excited. Blush Lounge is not merely a profit-oriented start up – it is a symbol of hope that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

These are the artists who have carried on the 500 year old legacy of the Mughal Empire into the Lahore of today, these are the craftsmen who enamour every inch of the metal with love, precision and accuracy. These are the Jewellers of every women’s divine possession, Kundan. Kundan literally means pure gold. The craft was initiated by the Mughals in 16th century when intricate pieces of jewellery and ornaments were designed by setting precious stones into sheets of pure gold. With the world becoming a global village, the art of designing Kundan jewellery has modified over various generations. The current Kundan jewellery is crafted on a base of brass metal, with the same pleasing detailing as done before. I am blessed enough to have witnessed this precision in Kundan crafting. I belong to a family of Kundan jewellery artists. Having practically grown up around this jewellery making, I have more Kundan in my vessels than blood and can easily tell apart between originals and fakes. It also makes me greatly sad seeing that the amount of work put into the art and the amount of appreciation the crafters get is not equal. The craft of Kundan Jewellery has literally becomea dying art, suffocating at the hands of culture industries worldwide.

Belonging to a family comprising the last generation of artists, renowned for once having made Kundan for mughals, I feel it is extremely important to preserve the art of Kundan crafting. Not only does there lie a huge potential for the art to grow but it can also prove to be one of the hallmark of Pakistani fashion, opening multiple possibilities for new comers in the industry. Kundan market can also prove to be a great addition to Pakistani exports, boosting the economy to new levels, given that the art of fostered, nurtured and preserved.

Real couturiers in London are an endangered species, so to find one not just in business but flourishing and expanding is something to be celebrated. We will talk with Omar Mansoor, who is designing properly constructed, traditional, handmade couture. For him word-of-mouth has proved the most potent tool in gaining new clients and his customers now come, as he says, “from all continents and are all ages, literally from 17 to 70”. He got his big break when Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa Al-Thani, the Princess of Qatar, fell in love with his work, and since then he has gone from strength to strength, with BBC’s Susanna Reid wearing his designs to Oscar’s red-carpet events. He’s the only couturier who is doing a regular exclusive collection for Royal Ascot every year since 2010.

The Emperors’ City By Shahwan SETHI

Lahore, the second most populous city in Pakistan and the 32nd most populous city in the world. Who doesn’t know about the city of hearts? Since childhood, we have been hearing that we are not born if we have not seen Lahore in real. Lahore was named after Lava, son of the Hindu god Rama, who supposedly founded the city. From 1524 to 1752, Lahore was part of the Mughal Empire and founded in 1526. In the late 16th century, the great Mughal emperor Akbar had built a great fort named as Shahi Qila, which was enlarged by his successors. The Mughals laid out gardens whose plants provided relief from the intense heat of summer, built fortresses covered with polychrome tiles, and tombs decorated with marble ornamented with semi-precious stones. During my roaming, I counted around 21 notable monuments, some of which date to the era of Emperor Akbar. The Lahore Fort is notable for having been almost

entirely rebuilt in the 17th century, when the Mughal Empire was at the height of its splendor and opulence. It was built with mud-brick during11th-century, which later reconstructed and renovated by Emperor Akbar in1566, who bestowed the fort with an architectural style that featured Hindu motifs. Shah Jahan period are also characterized by luxurious marble with inlaid Persian floral designs, while the fort’s grand and iconic Alamgiri Gate was built by the last of the great Mughal Emperors, Aurangzeb, and faces the renowned Badshahi Mosque. A journey started from the Lahore Railway station and directly headed towards the main attraction of the city, The Great Lahore Fort Shahi Qila. While capturing the different areas of the fort, every place has its own history, which makes it beautiful and stunning. And I am afraid if I am unable to do the justice with

Images take us to the era where the Emperors actually lived their royal historical period. The architecture was so elegant and delegate that still we can feel its quality of work. The Mughals, who were famous as builders, gave Lahore some of its finest architectural monuments, many of which are extant today. The emperors lived in Lahore for long periods, or stopped on their way from Delhi and Agra to the mountains and flower-filled valleys of Kashmir. Their gifts of western paintings and engravings profoundly influenced the developing style of Mughal painting in the late 16th and early 17th century. Lahore’s reputation for beauty fascinated the English poet John Milton, who wrote “Agra and Lahore, the Seat of the Great Mughal” in 1670. During this time, the massive Lahore Fort was built. A few buildings within the fort were added by Akbar’s son, Mughal emperor Jahangir, who is buried in the city. The Naulakha Pavilion is a white marble personal chamber with a curvilinear roof, located beside the

Sheesh Mahal courtyard. The structure was originally inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones and overlooked the Ravi River. Moti Masjid is one of the “Pearl Mosques”, is a 17thcentury religious building located inside the Lahore Fort. It is a small, white marble structure built by Mughal emperor Jahangir, and is among his prominent extensions (such as Sheesh Mahal and Naulakha pavilion) to the Lahore Fort Complex. The Sheesh Mahal (The Palace of Mirrors) is located within the Shah Burj block in northern-western corner of Lahore Fort. It was constructed under the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631-32. The ornate white marble pavilion is inlaid with pietra dura and complex mirror-work of the finest quality. The Diwan-i-Khas, or Hall of Private Audiences, in the Lahore Fort in Lahore, Pakistan was the place where the Mughal emperor received courtiers and state guests.

Roshnai Gate “Gate of Lights� is one of the thirteen gates within the Walled City of Lahore in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was the main entry point of the Rulers and the other nobles during the Mughal and Sikh Periods.

Gate is the entrance of the Lahore Fort. It was built by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1674. It has two semicircular bastions where lotus petal design adorns its base.

Mughal Emperor Akbar built two gates. Akbari Gate was built in 1566 and now called Maseeti Gate.

Although the land the Mughals once ruled has separated into what is now India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, their influence can still be seen widely today. Tombs of the emperors are spread throughout India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Peach-Berry Punch

1 10 ounce package frozen raspberries, thawed 2 1/4 cups unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled 1 cup peach or apricot nectar, chilled 1/4 cup lemon juice 2 cups carbonated water, chilled 12 frozen unsweetened peach slices

Directions Place thawed raspberries in a wire strainer. Press the berries firmly with the back of a large spoon until berries are crushed and only the seeds are left in the strainer. Discard seeds. In a punch bowl stir together sieved raspberries, pineapple juice, peach or apricot nectar, lemon juice, and carbonated water. Float frozen peach slices in bowl. Makes 12 (4-ounce) servings.

Spooky MANGO Spirits: 24 ounce jar mango slices, drained (or use 2 cups of frozen mango) 2 cups ice cubes 2 cups chilled apricot nectar 1 cup chilled apple cider orange sugar crystals, for rim In a blender, combine a 24-oz. jar of mango slices and 2 cups ice cubes; cover and blend until smooth. Stir in sugar. Add 8 inches stick cinnamon, torn basil, sliced lime, and sliced orange. Cover and chill 4 to 24 hours. Strain mixture, discarding solids. Just before serving, slowly add club soda to chai mixture. Serve over ice cubes. If desired, garnish with additional cinnamon sticks, citrus slices, and whole basil leaves. Makes 10

Summer Mediterranean Chickpea Salad Apple Chicken Salad 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained 5 -6 ounces cooked chicken, cubed 1⁄4 cup chopped apple 1⁄2 cup thinly sliced celery 2 tablespoons raisins 1⁄3 cup Italian dressing (or your favorite) 2 teaspoons brown sugar nuts (to sprinkle) Directions
