Remember the show Pendant quatre jours, la dernière édition du Silmo a fait la preuve de son dynamisme avec plus de 33.000 visiteurs venus du monde entier (et vous, étiez-vous là ?)… Pendant quatre jours, le millier d’exposants présents a dévoilé leurs dernières innovations, leurs nouvelles collections et ont su profiter de l’écho mondial du salon pour commercialiser des concepts inédits, lancer de nouvelles marques.

Le rayonnement d’un salon comme le Silmo est en effet la meilleure chambre d’écho, le meilleur tremplin, la meilleure caisse de résonnance pour « voir et être vu » selon l’expression consacrée.

Over the course of four days, the last Silmo event pulled out all the stops with more than 33,000 visitors from all over the world.

Were you there? Approximately one thousand exhibitors turned out for the event to reveal their latest innovations and newest collections, taking advantage of the worldwide scope of the trade fair to launch unprecedented concepts and new brands.

The influence of a fair like Silmo is the best springboard from which to bounce, megaphone from which to be heard, and spotlight in which your company can «see and be seen».

FRED (France) FRED (Logo, France) a dévoilé un véritable bijou, la nouvelle collection Force 10 qui puise son style unique et intemporel dans l’univers du nautisme : des montures luxueuses déclinées en or, platine et palladium pour les hommes chics et virils.

Fred (Logo, France) revealed a true jewel, the new Force 10 collection that takes its unique, timeless style from the sailing world: luxurious frames in gold, platinum and palladium for chic, virile men.

PETER COOMBES (Australia), joaillier designer comme il se définit lui-même, a choisi le Silmo pour célébrer ses 30 ans de créations artisanales et pour lancer sa marque au plan mondial (en photo, modèle Sedron datant de 1996, en série limitée).

Peter Coombs (Australia), who describes himself as a jewellery designer, chose Silmo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his finely crafted creations and to launch his brand on a worldwide level (the photo shows the 1996 Sedron model produced again in limited editions).

XIT ( F MI - P a r i s D i s t r i b u t i o n , France) XIT (FMI-Paris Distribution, France), présente, dans sa collection Résille en Inox, la ligne « Les Mots Roses », dévoilant de manière subtile, des mots politiquement incorrects ou au contraire plus sages selon les montures.

XIT (FMI-Paris Distribution, France) presents the «Les Mots Roses» line as part of its Résille en Inox collection, subtly revealing politically incorrect words or more polite ones, depending on the model.

SPINE (Mondottica, UK), un nouveau concept présenté au Silmo, de l’ingénierie intelligente pour une charnière flexible inspirée des vertèbres de la colonne vertébrale ; une belle mécanique en micro-injection métallique formée de câbles et de ressorts, qui créent une tension, stabilisant la monture sur le visage du porteur. Une innovation brevetée destinée à des lunettes masculines optiques et solaires.

Spine (Mondottica, UK), a new concept of intelligent engineering for flexible hinges inspired by the spinal column, was presented at Silmo. This admirable mechanic achievement of micro-injected metal cables and springs creates a tension that stabilises the frame on the wearer’s face. This patented innovation is destined for use in men’s prescription glasses and sunglasses.

MIKITA for PALMS ANGELS (Germany) rend hommage au livre dédié au surf urbain sur la côte californienne publié par Rizzoli, avec une monture Calypso « nuit noire » montée avec des verres flash or et proposée avec l’ouvrage dédicacé, les deux logés dans un coffret spécial.

Mikita for Palm Angels (Germany) pays tribute to the book published by Rizzoli showcasing Californian skaters by creating a «dark night» Calypso frame with flash gold lenses. A signed copy of the book is available with the glasses in a special box set.

THEO (Belgium) THEO (Belgium) lance son premier bijou : Hypnotic est une broche précieuse qui magnétise le regard avec son design étonnant ; quatre modèles sont proposés, deux en acier inoxydable plaqué or et deux en acier inoxydable plaqué palladium, chacun édité à 100 exemplaires numérotés.

MICHEL HENAU (Belgium) a lancé sa première collection de solaires sur le Silmo, des lunettes construites dans la continuité de ses montures optiques structurées et architecturales, affirmant son style contemporain (en photo, modèle Octagono).

Theo (Belgium) is launching its first piece of jewellery: Hypnotic is a precious brooch that attracts the eye like a magnet with its surprising design. Four models are available: two in gold-plated stainless steel and two in palladium-plated stainless steel, each in a limited edition of just 100 numbered examples.

Michel Henau (Belgium) launched its first collection of sunglasses at Silmo: wellstructured, architectural glasses, like an extension of the prescription glasses collections, to affirm a very contemporary style (Octagono model shown).

Julbo (France) indulges your eighties nostalgia with a tribute to the «fluo fun» wave, bringing back two collector’s models that marked the brand’s history: Megève and Cortina.

YOHJI YAMAMOTO (Mondottica, UK) YOHJI YAMAMOTO (Mondottica, UK) a présenté au Silmo sa première collection de lunettes solaires ; une collection monochrome et mystérieuse où le noir, couleur favorite du créateur, s’associe à des tonalités sombres et luxueuses. « Avec mes yeux tournés vers le passé, je marche à reculons dans l’avenir », a déclaré le créateur japonais pour saluer la naissance de ces lunettes.

Yohji Yamamoto (Mondottica, UK) chose Silmo to launch the first collection of sunglasses by the Japanese designer.

This mysterious monochrome collection in black, Yamamoto’s favourite colour, combines sombre and luxurious tonalities. «With my eyes on the past, I walk backwards into the future,» declared Yohji Yamamoto to hail the launch of this collection.

Metal and plastic remain the reference materials in eyewear, but manufacturers and designers continue to creatively explore new media for a different point of view: stone, slate, paper, cardboard, and other unexpected materials make for one-of-a-kind designs. Neuf modèles sont disponibles déclinés en cinq coloris, une innovation récompensée par un Silmo d’Or 2014 dans la catégorie « monture optique » (en photo, modèle Petrus 01 Col.01).

Lucas de Staël (Undostrial, France) presented his new mineral collection using slate, Brazilian slate, quartz granite and granite copper: ultra-thin slices of rock on a stainless steel structure. Very, very bright Dans le domaine de l’optique, les couleurs neutres, les teintes naturelles et le noir dominent (comme dans d’autres secteurs, l’automobile par exemple…). Dans la mode, la variété s’installe et plus encore dans les accessoires qui apportent des virgules colorées à chaque silhouette. Ainsi, les montures sortent du neutre et plongent dans des palettes « coup d’éclat » pour un regard assurément dynamique, assurément vif.

Black, neutral and natural tones are the most common choices in eyewear (as in other fields, such as the automobile industry). However, variety is becoming increasingly present in fashion, especially through accessories that can add a splash of colour to any look. Thus eyewear, too, leaves neutral behind to dip into bright colour palettes for guaranteed liveliness and verve.
