Tous ceux qui participent à un salon professionnel, qu’ils soient exposants ou visiteurs, font le même constat : rien de mieux pour nouer des contacts, échanger des informations sur les marchés, découvrir des marques et des entreprises, observer les tendances, vendre et acheter.

Idem pour les visiteurs qui, au cours d’un salon, sont sûrs de voir les produits les plus innovants et les plus actuels dans un environnement concurrentiel appréciable, mais aussi de rencontrer les hommes qui les imaginent : le contact humain demeure en effet la clé de voûte de la relation de confiance évoquée, contact enrichi et entretenu tout au long de l’année grâce aux outils technologiques. Multifonction et multimédia, un salon doit aussi se décliner en mode virtuel pour se révéler comme le facilitateur de business, le passeur d’information au quotidien.

In marketing jargon, it is emphasised that the trade fair is the real-time multifunctional medium par excellence, building trust and relational marketing and driving business and growth. An American study by Center For Exhibitions Industry Research reveals that trade fairs continue to attract a broad and relevant public, even and particularly during times of economic tension, and exhibitors who choose purely and simply to opt out of participating risk becoming disconnected from their sector of origin. The same is true of visitors who, over the course of a trade fair, are guaranteed not only to see the most innovative and up-to-date products in a significantly competitive environment but also to meet the people who designed them. For the relationship of trust referred to is rooted in human contact, a form of enhanced proximity that can be maintained throughout the year thanks to the wonders of technology. With a multifunctional and multimedia remit, a trade fair must also boast a virtual component if it is to fulfil its role as a facilitator of business, a vector of information on a daily basis.
