What are the Benefits of SMS? SMS (Short Messaging Service) also called as text messaging has emerged as an alternative to phone calls, faxes and e-mails. In simple terms, it is a mode of communication which exchanges text with mobile phones or in some cases, from a computer towards a mobile phone called as SMS PC. The term ‘short’ implies the maximum of size of text messages which is 160 characters (numbers, symbols and letters in the Latin alphabet). In the case of other alphabet systems, like Chinese, the limit is 70 characters.

Even if your cell phone is not in use, it is continuously receiving and sending information. It is communicating with its cell phone tower through a pathway called as control channel. Almost often, the tower and your phone will exchange a packet of data which confirms that all things are OK. Benefits of SMS  It is personal. It goes straight into the mobile phone of the recipient. There is direct delivery of message into their hand.  It is possible to have two-way SMS in real time. You can even get replies to your bulk SMS messages.
