Nusrat raises thebar with ambitions

Nusrat Shafiullah, 42, from Walsall, is a first year (LLB)Law degree student, with ambitions to eventuallymove into alegalcareer.

As asingleparentwitha fouryear-old child, Nusrathad studied foranEnglish Literature course in Bangladesh before moving to England butknewitwasn’tright for

her, so shelookedaroundfor an alternativecourse,eventuallydecidingthata career in Lawwould be idealfor her.

Shefound asuitablecoursein theUniversity of Wolverhampton LawSchoolbut hadmissedthe January deadline forapplications. At thesametimeshe waslooking for asuitableschoolfor herchild and knew that thetimewas rightfor her to startstudyingagain

Shesaid: “I hadfound aschool

formybaby, buthavingmissedthe Januarydeadlinefor applications, Iworried that Iwouldn’tbeableto applyfor thecourse Iwanted “Withmy sonsettled in school, Inow hadthe time to study. Iwas still gettingemailsfromthe University andone of them wastoinform me that Clearing hadopened andIrealisedthatthiswas my opportunitytoapply.Withmychild in school,itwas time formetogo back to learning.As asinglemother
