It’s been just aweek sinceWolverhampton GrammarSchoolwas celebrating itsbestA* –BgradesatA-level in formal examsfor 10 years.
Todayitwas theturnofGCSE students to rejoiceasWGS once againdefied national trendsin achievinga bumper crop of top grades,with83per cent of thecohort awardedgrades9–6(A* –B).
Thereturntopre-pandemicgradingwas settoreducethe number of students achievingthe very best 9 –7 grades (A*/Aequivalent),but for students at WolverhamptonGrammarthiswas up by 15 percenton 2019.Two students achieved afantastic 11 straight9sand nine studentsgot 10 or 11 9s and8seach.
WGS’scohortof82students sat GCSEsin19different subjects.The percentage achieving9sand 8s was also up nine percentonpre-Covid results.

Pupils attained very good results with an almost 10%increaseonthe number of pupils gaininggrade 5 andabove,comparedto2019. This increase wasalso mirroredinthe 9 to 7grades, demonstratingpupils’ commitmenttoacademicexcellence.
