Audition Characters PLAY: FAIRY TALE COURTROOM The Wicked Witch on Trial by Dana Proulox District Attorney: Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, I intend to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this notorious woman is personally responsible for the above mentioned crimes, and is single handedly the most heinous villain in all of the kingdom. Are you going to put up with her wicked deeds? Bailiff: The People vs. The Wicked Witch, alias Evil Queen. The witch is being accused of three counts of harassment, conspiracy, destruction of property, two counts of poisoning and attempted arson and participation in slavery. Defense: Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, my client is no criminal. She is a victim of misunderstanding, and was only trying to defend what is rightfully hers and defend herself. When you hear her side of the story, I know you will find my client not guilty. Scarecrow: Well, my friends and I were on our way to the Emerald City, minding our own business, when suddenly the which popped out of nowhere on the top of the roof of my house and through a fireball right at me. Dorothy We were very scared. Then the witch kidnapped me and my dog Toto, and locked us in her dungeon as prisoners until she could get rid of us. All because she wanted my ruby slippers, and I couldn’t seem to get them off my feet. Snow I was cleaning house when I saw this little old lady out the window. She was selling apples. I thought it might be nice to bake an apple pie for the dwarves. She gave me one to sample. I took a bite and that’s all I remember until the Prince came along. Mirror I see these things because I’m magic. I hate it when they get so tragic. I saw her give the fruit to Snow, If I didn’t How would I know? Prince Poor Snow had been poisoned by the witch. Only a kiss from her one true love could bring her back to the living. Rescuing damsels in distress is one of my specialties and through my superior technique, I was able to save her! Audition Characters (continued) PLAY: FAIRY TALE COURTROOM The Wicked Witch on Trial by Dana Proulox Beauty I take a little nap and you go prancing off into the woods, kissing STRANGERS! You got your nerve. How could you? Hansel It’s like Gretel said, we got lost and we were trying to find our way home when we found the witch’s house. The first night was like a bed and breakfast, but then we figured out that she really wanted to eat us. After that it was downhill from there! Gretel We were lost and hungry. We saw a big house made out of cake and candy, so we ate some of it. Then the witch invited us in, we thought she was going to help us, but after a few days she got angry and decided to broil us in her oven! Judge Order, Order, Order in the Courtroom! There will be no more outbursts like that in my courtroom! I am the only one that gets to have outbursts! Do you understand?! Now! Pick a number between one and two. (pause) The number was two. Defense was the closest. Objection Sustained!
